@TheSuperHeros2 No where did I say that they did, you should really read more thoroughly, I said that Palpatine asserted that the betrayed the Republic's best interest, not that they actually did. Maybe you should watch A New Hope again, where Ben clearly tells Luke that Anakin was a noble Jedi Knight who was corrupted by the Dark Side, he then said that Anakin - now Darth Vader - murdered his father. I know why
This scene made the Jedi look pathetic, I agree. But then again, the prequels also make 'losing the will to live' a lethal condition. I think it would've been HILARIOUS if those kids all drew lightsabers and swarmed Anakin in a massive dogpile. Remake, remake, remake! \o/
Order 66 was one of a series of contingency orders that the clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic were trained to prepare for during their growth. The order branded the Jedi as traitors of the Republic and called for their immediate execution without question. Its issuing by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine marked the formal beginning of the Great Jedi Purge, starting the rise of the Galactic Empire, and it was chief among the atrocities that led to the Galactic Civil War.
This part of the movie is so sad... However, it DOES succeed at revealing exactly how/why there were no other Jedi knights (except for Obi-Wan and Yoda) in the original trilogy.
Clone troopers aren't just mindless soldiers who obey whatever orders are given to them by Palpatine. The trust between the Clones and the Jedi started dwindling throughout the clone wars when Jedi like Pong Krell started mistreating them in war. This happens in the tv show.
I think the saddest part is when Anakin walks into the Jedi room and the kids come out of hiding ask him what to do because they trust him and then his response is to take out his lightsaber and exterminate them.
@TheSuperHeros2 What emotion? Maybe it would have been more compelling if we actually knew any of those Jedi who were killed instead of them being mere background characters. And this wasn't the first time Anakin killed children, it's just that this time Padme has to care because the plot requires it.
@TheSuperHeros2 You said the emotion of this scene "ya tard". And of course they have names, but why should I, as the viewer, care specifically over the deaths of Shikshti Wi-Mon and those other characters?
@TheSuperHeros2 And Padme said that "anger is just being human" then, yet now that he's killed children again, she said he changed. Changed how? From killing innocent and defenseless sand woman and children to killing children? It makes no sense and she's only acted that way because the plot required it.
@pat5168 Thank you for sharing that. It's great to know. She didn't say he's changed for the fact that he killed kids, although that ties into it. she says he's cahnged because he has became enraged and obsessed with finding out tehw ay to make Padme survive the birth of Luke and Leia. You should care about their deaths because they were all important jedi- All being Jedi Masters and on the Jedi Council - hence why their deaths are shown.
@TheSuperHeros2 I watched the movie too, genius, the Order was clearly to eliminate the Jedi, and I gather from Palpatine's later statements that it was justified by his assertion of them betraying the Republic's best interest. Their lack of conveying is terrible if someone needs to do something more than watch the movie they created to understand it.
@pat5168 The order was not created because the jedi betrayed the republic, it was because Paalpatine, aka dArth Sideous (Sith Lord- enemy of the jedi) wanted to erase them. He was in the republic for that reason souly. You need to rewatch them so badly. You're blinded by your ignorance and obvious hatred for Anakin. Her was portrayed as a noble man as a lie. Do you not recall when Ben tells Luke his father was murdered by Vader? All a lie to protect Luke.
@pat5168 To further state why he's changed. He's became a different attitude - taken over by his obsession with power and his desire to make Padme survive. My god have you watched any of the movies -.-?
@TheSuperHeros2 He's always has an obsession with power and he's always wanted to make Padme survive. I remember in the second movie when he offers to do anything for her and when he advocates dictatorship, implying himself as ruler. He's always been a whiny little bitch, complaining about everything and wanting more. They could have portrayed him as being genuinely noble like they say he was in the original three, but there was no fall to the Dark Side, it was realizing he was meant for it.
i can't remember which site but i read on one of those all you need to know about star wars sites with every info imaginable from the movies to books... that over 100 jedi actually survived order 66. so it wasn't a complete loss. thats why lucas made that little scene with obi wan saying he changed the beacon to warn jedi to stay away, that way it explains why in the expanded universe you have all these different jedis your introduced too throughout the books and etc...
I'm not embarrassed to admit this scene made me cry in the theater. Especially when Anakin seals the fate of the younglings and Padme begins to cry. It is all very overwhelming.
To clarify my last comment, GAR = Grand Army of the Republic. Order 66 was one of 150 contingency orders drilled into the minds of every clone, and nearly all of them executed Order 66. Many didnt like to execute their Jedi friends, but did it anyway. A few commando clone squads however refused to carry out Order 66, but they are not mentioned in the movies.
"In the event of Jedi officers acting against the interests of the Republic, and after receiving specific orders verified as coming directly from the Supreme Commander (Chancellor), GAR commanders will remove those officers by lethal force, and command of the GAR will revert to the Supreme Commander (Chancellor) until a new command structure is established." -- Order 66, GAR document CO(CL) 56-95
@hardrocktobi stop hating on the government, if it weren't for the government would would be speaking Russian right now, so if the government wants to stop piracy, you say THANK YOU and GOD BLESS AMERICA

Even if the dark side clouds the future shouldn't the jedi have been able to take down the clones even if they were surprised at first. Im just a little confused, they make the jedi seem kinda pathetic.
@TRISTUSCUS one of the greatest ways to deafet a jedi is to use their own troops against them. beacuse jedi trust people. this tactic was devolped by darth revan.
Plapatine did have the power to stop people from diying, he could maniuplulate the cells that gave the force to keep them alive. He didn't do it with Padme because love is a thing both Jedi and Sith avoid, and it would have made Vader weaker
Anakind DESERVED to burn in that lava. Murdering children for a power Sidious didn't even have, and then CHOKES his pregnant wife half to death. Stupid brat
@NeidalRuekk i have often wondered if that power palpatine said darth plagueis had learned really existed, and if they could have learned it if palpatine had not just "played" anakin for his personaly advancement
if you read the books youd know the only Jedi eliminated in order 66 were the ones fighting in the clone wars, and even then, not all were killed. Subsequently when Vader went in search of the other Jedi to kill, there were a ton in the outer systems that he couldnt account for
The reason I loved the Clones so much before is because they came from Boba, which originally from Jango Fett. Ever since I have seen this scene, I have seen both the Clones and the Droids in the same way. They are both mindless beings, never questioning not their overlord's rules. Complete mindless beings without any integrity.
Out of the roughly 10,000 jedi only roughly 200 survived Order 66, and the siege of the Temple (Operation: Knightfall)) Most of these survivors were however hunted down, corrupted or simply forsake the Jedi way. By the time of the Empire's defeat at the Battle of Endor (ABY 4), only around 30 jedi remained in the galaxy.
@Killerlonewolf115935 you bet ya . will just get the wookies and gungans gather up all the left over jedi the senate council army and the 61 good clones and well kick but
@marcusschumacher801 In all fairness to Cody (btw this is extreme nerd fact so keep that in mind) Order 66 was not: Betray all those dirty jedi scum. Order 66 was an emergency protocol one of 150 that could be activated at any time by the supreme chancellor in the case of an emergency. 66 was an order to terminate all the jedi command in the case of a jedi coup or uprising. If anything the Clones felt betrayed that their CO that they had died for had betrayed them.
Why does the Emperor have to hologram certain soilders, then all of them seen to know what was said? I mean, couldn't he just talk over the radio to all the planets? I mean, talking to each soilder takes ALONG TIME. :P
At last the Jedi are no more! Yes, the jedi scum are eradicated finnaly! The jedi are the plague of the galaxy! Im glad the dark lord of the sith killed them all! The Jedi are all evil
I remember when i was little and saw this for the first time seeing ki auidi mundi die and the fighter jetjedi die i cried because they were my favorite i just looked at it for the first time and i gogot damn it why why why oh and BOOM HEADSHOT 2:38
Oder 66 was one of over 100 orders programmed into them during their creation, stating that every Jedi had become an enemy of the Republic. The Orders were all irreversible and obeyed without question.
02:45-02:55 this short sequense of just ten seconds is probably the only moment in the entire movie that gives you a warm, hopefull feeling. Magic filmmaking by Lucas, I'm gonna enjoy watching this movie on big screen again in 3D :)
Why are you all so angry about the death of younglings? George Lucas put that scene in because it shows what Anakin's fall was like. Everyone knew it was coming...and who knows he might not have killed them..he might have gone *activates lightsaber* "let's go kill them *leads kids into battle and then ditch them*
It's funny how only Bly felt any compassion...Cody was frustrated that the order didn't come before he gave Kenobi his lightsaber back. But overall the reason the Jedi didn't see it coming was because the clones had no ill-feelings. They were just carrying out orders.
Wow for everything the jedi stand for the clones obey the order fuck :( id bet u the jedi would save anyone of those men and fight for the republic :( damn clones the Republic should of known it was to easy who just pays for a clone army? :P
@TheSuperHeros2
Well, technically Vader did murder Anakin because it wasn't Anakin anymore, it was a whole new entity, same body but different mind.

The worst thing about this scene is that the music is drowned out by the sound effects. God damned shameful.

Why does the Emperor have to hologram certain soilders, then all of them seen to know what was said? I mean, couldn't he just talk over the radio to all the planets? I mean, talking to each soilder takes ALONG TIME. :P
BootsFTWD 2 weeks ago
@BootsFTWD The Emperor only contacted about the most important members of the Jedi Order. Others were dealt as you said, over comm.
ruunu3004 2 weeks ago
@BootsFTWD he doesnt talk to all the clones he only messages the commanders, captains and lieutenants

"yes my lord." just like that no remorse no conflicting feelings no doubts cody just going to obey.
i wonder if obi wan ghost ever haunted him.
BlackAce1229 2 weeks ago
Why are you all so angry about the death of younglings? George Lucas put that scene in because it shows what Anakin's fall was like. Everyone knew it was coming...and who knows he might not have killed them..he might have gone *activates lightsaber* "let's go kill them *leads kids into battle and then ditch them*
Darkanakin42 2 weeks ago
It's funny how only Bly felt any compassion...Cody was frustrated that the order didn't come before he gave Kenobi his lightsaber back. But overall the reason the Jedi didn't see it coming was because the clones had no ill-feelings. They were just carrying out orders.

Darkorbit21 3 weeks ago
@Darkorbit21 Order 66 included not to obey their jedi-leaders, it's a 100% termination-order.
Creaturelover18 3 weeks ago
@Darkorbit21 sadly order 66 over ruled any jedi given order it would be like a seperatist trying to give them orders

What did they think. That they were just going to kill yoda. It's not that easy
arraneeno 3 weeks ago 26
@arraneeno Every other jedi had like 10 storm troopers while they were by themselves.
Yoda had 2, and he had wookies beside him.
