I agree. I checked out what it takes to become a Japanese citizen. In order become a Nihon citizen, you must renounce all other citizenships!!! Screw that! I'm Canadian! But what does suck about being Canadian is that no matter where you travel, you know your entering entering a land with restricted rights and freedom with the possible exception of the Scandinavian countries like Finland and Sweden. Perhaps other European countries fit the freedom bill too...

It is actually possible in essence for Canadians to say they are American too. The reason is simply the fact that both countries are in North America. Canadian American and US americans could both be correct.
It is the equivalent of either a French or British person both saying that they are European, because they are located in Europe.

Though it is possible to call your self that 'technicaly' it doesn't make sense to those who have and will always call the people of the United States 'true' Americans, it is a result of the patriatism during the american revolution, which invovled primaraly the U.S. NOT CANADA.
