The very choice of which news stories to cover is itself not objective. Likewise, the choice of which facts to present (there are ALWAYS conflicting facts and statistics) will also be determined by a level of bias.

All people in the news give opinions, it cant be helped unless they read with a monotone. Do you dislike Kronkite, he spoke out against the Vietnam War. He expressed an opinion. The goal is to not let it be all you do if you are a news anchor, as the Lee Cowan does. He expressed an opinion yes, but for the most part just reported the news. Opinions cant be held totally in check, they can only be partially held back.
The difference is that Keith Olberman is a COMMENTATOR, he is paid to give his opinion on the days news. His show is an opinion show just like O'Reilly, Beck, Hannity, Van Sustern, et al. If it had been as close as it had been in 2000 (especially because Gore actually won the popular vote) I think talk about the election being stolen would be more warranted. But since Obama won sizable in the popular vote and the electoral college was a landslide, i honestly think any election stealing is out of the question.
Agreed however they DID try. Just in my State(Ohio) 667,000 new people were registered this past year. MS has more people registered to vote than they have citizens. People were traveling to different Counties in Oh on busses voting multiple times.

The very choice of which news stories to cover is itself not objective. Likewise, the choice of which facts to present (there are ALWAYS conflicting facts and statistics) will also be determined by a level of bias.

I didn't accept it without question. Read Lee Cowan's transcript and tell me it wasn't him giving a commentary; exactly what Couric was denouncing. This is the problem; too many NEWS people are becoming COMMENTATORS. Have you seen Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC lately? I don't think I'm leaping to conclusions here; did you read the Cowan transcript? P.S. I don't always disagree with Olbermann politically, but I believe he's wrong here. Stop leaping to conclusions. ;-)

All people in the news give opinions, it cant be helped unless they read with a monotone. Do you dislike Kronkite, he spoke out against the Vietnam War. He expressed an opinion. The goal is to not let it be all you do if you are a news anchor, as the Lee Cowan does. He expressed an opinion yes, but for the most part just reported the news. Opinions cant be held totally in check, they can only be partially held back.

The difference is that Keith Olberman is a COMMENTATOR, he is paid to give his opinion on the days news. His show is an opinion show just like O'Reilly, Beck, Hannity, Van Sustern, et al. Unlike those shows however he has facts to back up what he says, while they just spout republican talking points, and also he acknowledges that his is an opinion show while the frauds on fox say they are news anchors

ok in reference to your question about media bias: yeah even though i support obama i will admit that there was a media bias in favour of him. But there were plenty of stories/reports of him that were unfair and untrue, just as there were both fair and unfair stories on McCain.
But its obvious that Palin received a lot of bad press...but i think most of be was legitimate, as i said. Election over so discussion is kind of her is kind of irrelevant.

I really don't think a group like ACORN could steal an election that went so decidedly one way. If it had been as close as it had been in 2000 (especially because Gore actually won the popular vote) I think talk about the election being stolen would be more warranted. But since Obama won sizable in the popular vote and the electoral college was a landslide, i honestly think any election stealing is out of the question.

Agreed however they DID try. Just in my State(Ohio) 667,000 new people were registered this past year. MS has more people registered to vote than they have citizens. People were traveling to different Counties in Oh on busses voting multiple times.
Even if he'd had won without ACORN doing that, it still pisses me off. Millions have died fighting for our right to vote & they are making a mockery of it. Had the election been close, It would have been a nightmare for our Country.

No not to my knowledge. I read that he wanted to implement universal healthcare & anyone who refused to do community service would lose thier healthcare. That sounds a lot like endentured servitude to me!
I think what your thinking of is he also wants all people between the ages of 18-23 to attend military basic training. If they refused, no grants for college.

I was under the understand he was simply going to allow free healthcare to those who wanted it, it could be turned down by anyone.
I also have heard absolutely nothing about his want to force youths to attend basic military training...i am much more certain about the grants for community service.
But in the free choice we have now...millions of American's are without healthcare...i think many americans would gladly do some community service for healthcare...as well as for college grants.

I actually wouldn't. i have a lot of respect for john mccain as a person and as a politician...before he ran for president. When the whole race started i said that it wouldnt be a horrible thing if John Mccain was elected. But over the course of the race i believe he compromised his beliefs in order to try and win.
I think his selection of Palin was irrational and a desperate attempt to appeal to angry Clinton voters...

I dont believe it was all his fault...i think he was pressured by the Rebulican party into doing things that he didnt want to do.
But i believed he sold out his ideals to try to win it exposed him as irrational, (his idea to suspend is campaign after the stock market crash was also a bad idea) and short sighted.

I was not a big fan of McCain. I had respect for him but he sure as hell didn't represent conservative values. He played both sides of the fence. I was depressed with both choices. McCain was just the lesser of two evils in my opinion.
I think the republicans have been clubbed over the head and awoken. I'm sick & tired of both parties. I used to be a Republican but pulled out & joined the libertarian party. Its all a big mess! None of them represent the people anymore.

I was a great admirer of Keith Olbermann until I started noticing his, and his guests',flagrantly anti-Hillary commentary. At the time, I was undecided between Obama, Clinton, and Edwards. But the daily pounding of Hillary, and the nauseating fawning over Obama, put me squarely on her side. I can no longer watch or listen to Olbermann. I will be voting for Obama, of course, but the media bashing of Hillary unnecessarily dampened my enthusiasm.
