When western Rome fell, Constanine the Great, a Greek king established a new empire in the Ancient Greek city of Byzantion. He renamed the City to Constantinopolis which means city of Constantine and he named his Empire Byzantion after the Original ancient Greek City. History is interesting, you should read a bit.
