I am not from Newport, & I am not even fully Welsh; see my Grandad was from Bridgend, so really I'm only a quarter Welsh. However, whenever I went to Wales I always had the feeling of 'coming home', despite the fact that I was born & raised in Slough, in Berkshire, England.

Bridgend & the surrounding area of Maesteg, Pontypridd, Porthcawl, & the Blaengarw valley (which I particularly loved), always felt like my true home, & this song stirs that part of me that is proud to be Welsh!
