The arrogance of Singapore is legendary and it's one reason why it's so unpopular within its region. It has been terrorising people with its unjustified arrogance, a lot of what is has achieved is due to British help (as in HK) and also a very good physical location.

@colloz No, I did not say the rest of Asia was pathetic. British assistance was what helped Singapore to be at a slightly higher level than the rest of Asia. The foundations had already been laid by them. Later on, people such as Albert Winsemius then advised your country how to develop even further, which it managed to do with the help of foreign technology and assistance. However, Singapore is arguably still not a developed country.

Who was in charge of the little island from the early 1800s to about mid 1900s? Did you fail your history? The history of your own country, apparently. @colloz You should know that from the 1600s till 1819, what was then Singapore had almost nothing there. It was the British who got modern Singapore started. Without them, what happened in the 13th century would be irrelevant. Also, just to let you know, when I asked who was in charge, I was not referring to any particular individual. Did you know it is possible for one country to be in charge of a colony?
