Great singer! This song was originally an old Spanish song called "La Golondrina" about longing to go home. This kid does the song great justice. Beautiful in any language.

So many memories come flooding back when I hear this beautiful song, in fact any song does when I hear this young man sing. I get goosebumps. When my parents brought heintje's first record home, I was around the same age as he. As I hear these songs decades later, I still remember the words. Thank you so much for posting and thank you for bringing the memory of this great child singer back to life.

I wish i could find this on cd. i loved heintje when i was a child. my father was from germany. I would of loved to dance to a mother's tear at my son's wedding but couldn't find it on CD. i go to you tube with my grandson and listen to heintje with him and my grandson loves when he sings mama.

Yes it's the same tune - originally written as La Golondrina (the Swallow) by Narciso Serradel Sevilla. Look up La Golondrina and hear Placido Domingo's version. It's good but I prefer Heintje's.

What a fantastic singer and handsome lad. Did he ever take a bad photo? His grooming, his hair and his wardrobe are always perfect in every photo and video I've seen. Nor can i find any fault in his adorable voice and diction.

1971, als 8-jähriger, trällerte ich textsicher sein "ICh bau dir ein Schloss" aus voller kehle, weil ich das so toll fand.

Bestimmt bereitet er auch heute nachfolgenden Generationen viel Freude mit seinen Liedern von damals.
