@godamidiot being someone who has been trained through Ohio police academy, I know how we are trained to shoot. If someone has a firearm in the belt line - you do not shoot. You give commands and try to diffuse the situation. Once that person reaches for that firearm after refusing commands to not touch it - then you have justification to fire. Once their hand is on that weapon, it only takes a split second for them to actually use it.
tasers fail more often than a firearm - and you only get one shot/one cartridge. If someone grabs a gun, I do not grab my taser. I grab my gun - and I will not be shooting at their feet hoping they are overwhelmed by pain.

I wish these young guys wouldn't carry a weapon and respect all people. The kid was in the wrong but I'm not happy that his life ended. I realize the situation that the officer was placed and I'm not going to second guess him. The guy was young and his life ended too soon. My prayers are with the officer and the family of the deceased.

It's always good to shoot to kill, especially when dealing with a kid who's already subdued. I love cheering the death of people, it makes my insignificant life a little more bearable. I think the Cincinnati PD should always shoot first, ask questions later… what's the worst that can happen? Cincinnati riots, schmiots! Good advice if you want to say safe in downtown is stay clear of cops. Clearly Cincinnati officers don't know how to shoot to wound, or incapacitate.

@godamidiot You do not shoot to wound. You shoot center mass. With adrenaline flowing through a criminal's body they can withstand several shots or more and still function for a short time. There is no reason to draw you gun unless you plan on taking someone out before they try and take you out. Shoot to wound is a way to get yourself killed. While you're being nice shooting them in the leg they're firing at your vitals.

@ants41 This isn't a militarized state, and until it is, shooting a subdued suspect to kill him is not what any police are trained to do, in any situation. They are trained to defuse the situation. Even in war there are sanctions against killing detainees. So maybe you'd like to watch the tape hwen the cop fires at the subdued suspect and tell me again why you want these barely educated fools taking citizens lives in their hands. A tazer could have easily kept the 16-year-old from moving.

@godamidiot being someone who has been trained through Ohio police academy, I know how we are trained to shoot. If someone has a firearm in the belt line - you do not shoot. You give commands and try to diffuse the situation. Once that person reaches for that firearm after refusing commands to not touch it - then you have justification to fire. Once their hand is on that weapon, it only takes a split second for them to actually use it.

tasers fail more often than a firearm - and you only get one shot/one cartridge. If someone grabs a gun, I do not grab my taser. I grab my gun - and I will not be shooting at their feet hoping they are overwhelmed by pain.

skipjack...you are a JACK ASS...or blind. The officer had no choice but to defend his own life after the gun was drawn and pointed. On the pther hand, the child had many many opportunities to comply and take this incident in another direction...one which left him alive. Instead he chose to draw and pointed a loaded gun on a police officer. I thank God that camera's were there so that the TRUTH about the incident is apparent to (most) of the people who watch it.

Looks like the cop murdered the suspect. Pretty obvious that the gun was out of the boy's reach when the officer murdered him. He then retrieved the gun, and laid it nearby. There are two kinds of cops. Ones who are in it because they care, and ones who are in it because they were picked on in school. Next on 12 news, riots in downtown Cincinnati.
