  • @gracie94elton They sing "we can never discard"

  • The face that the last guy makes at the end is just downright adorable!

  • what do the backing singers sing at 3:25??

  • @gracie94elton they slowly say "look behind the facade"; it sounds like "looooook behiiiind theeeeeee faaaaaa-caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaade"

  • @JokersGirl0711 oh, thanks XD I thought I was going bat-shit-crazy because I couldn't find him!

  • @TigerLilacs17 Glad I could be of some assistance. ^_^

  • What line does Hasslehoff sing? I can't find him.. :/

  • @TigerLilacs17 He's not in this song. Utterson, Emma and Lucy are, though.

  • So true... I found out that I knew my brother all my life, but the person he was pretending to be was just a facade... And I'm slowly learning who he really is... And it hurts to know he'd lied to me and my family all these years..

  • I think it's funny how well you can hear Coleen =) No troubles picking out the 2nd soprano/alto line... I love her as Lucy.

  • this is a fantastic song!

  • the man at 0:11 in the back kinda of looks like hes got heartburn xD

    good singer nevertheless! lol

  • I always said "facade" wrong before I heard this...

  • Coleen is very beautiful in this show.

  • I go to a very high-talent level acting camp and our production of Jekyll of Hyde (working on it right now), our Facade from people 17 years old already sounds better than this.

  • @tavymcsavy can u prove it??

  • @tavymcsavy SDM? xD

  • @tavymcsavy

You must be at the French Woods Festival!

...Right? It'd be a great coincidence if another camp were doing the same play. If you are here, I completely agree with you. If not, I have no way to agree with you because I haven't heard your cast.

  • @APVStudios Yep French woods, I know who you are but do you know who I am?

  • "And I'm certain, life is terribly hard" I don't think he played it out enough. Obviously, listening to the soundtrack it's going to be different but he hardly tried! It's an *amazing* note to reach, if I were him I'd have sung my heart out on that! But that's just me...

  • Is it just me, or do parts of this sound like Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Variation 8'?

  • went to the show up my way n watched my drama teach play spider... he was awsome as well.. along side the lead singer........ tthat played Jekyll and Hyde in the Musical... :) cant wait for the dvd to be out.... :D xo

  • Why is there a pirate there?

  • @ElliotCarver Crippled war general - almost, but not quite

  • This has got to be the best of all the songs in this.

  • 2:25 he rocks!

  • It's that Simon Stride singing in some parts like

    0:58, 3:08 and 3:24?

  • 2:25 anyone know who this guy is? I love his voice :D

  • Actually Watching this musical I was suprised at how much I liked David Hasselhoff in this role. I'm not like a die hard fan or anything but for the most part, I thought he was pretty enjoyable.

  • omg i love this song cause its so true ^_^

  • The guy at 2:24 and 2:56 is amazing!

  • I'm not one man OR two. I'm zero men.

  • does anybody know the tempo for this song? if so i NEED to know by tonight. thanks

  • 4 people are hypocrites

  • ACK!!! The man who sings at 2:25 has a gorgeous voice. Everytime he sings in the entire musical, I swoon. Everyone in this sings well, but he sings like a god.

  • Lol- I'm in the musical @ school and I have to say..... ours is much better.... hahahahahah:) Well, of course I'm going to say tht! lol- we sound better too tho :/ isnt tht right @TwilightTeamEdward25 and @Chewbiful !? WE ROCK:) hahahahahah:)

  • One thing I don't like about this play is that there is almost zero choreography. When my community theatre did this a few months ago, we were all over the place. It was EPIC.

  • @barrettc17 Sometiems less is more. That's what I love about this number. It's so simple and the "choreography" doesn't pull away or distract from the lyrics. Sometimes "community theatre" forgets that what is most important is the STORY not the SHOW.

  • @barrettc17 That's precisely what's wrong with community theater. Over the top, because 99% of the people aren't trained and are just figuring things out as they go along. I bet the "choreography" was tied right to the lyrics, too.

  • @reader1004 Ours is actually a video response down there. just watch. notice that almost all of the people in the number are under the age of 17 and there are NO mics involved whatsoever and we are a small community theatre in north Mississippi with almost no funding at all.

  • aaaahhhhhhh! LOVE THIS MUSICAL!

  • I absolutely love this song thanks for uploading it

  • Aahh!! My Choir are singing this song for our broad way night at the end of the month, Its going to be incredible, Can't wait!!

  • Honestly, I think Hasselhoff did the part well. Obviously he will never be the best, but give the guy credit, he completely stepped out of his comfort zone to follow a dream.

  • I really love this musical!! It is soooo gorgeous!!! And I do like this version, but indeed David Hasselhoff must go!! Errr... he's a tad much .... But other then that... I love it!!!! I first saw it live at our civic theatre in Kalamazoo and fell in love!!! Watching these clips brings back so many fond memories!!! Thanks soooo much for the upload(s)!!!!

  • The tune to the chorus is very nice, but the lyrics are rather stupid.

Also, this opening is eerily similar to Sweeney Todd, right down to the riff that plays at the beginning while the audience is still clapping.

  • Comment removed

  • @MissAnon9001 ...? Sweeney Todd is about fifteen years older than this musical, unless I'm mistaken in believing that it came out in 1992? Sweeney Todd is 1979.

  • @MissAnon9001 I popped over to Wikipedia to make sure that I wasn't horribly wrong, it said that the production of this musical didn't even start until the late eighties. So it's entirely possible (and very likely) that Sweeney Todd influenced Jekyll and Hyde.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing; Sweeney Todd is an amazing musical, and I wouldn't mind it if more musicals were like it. :)

  • @MissAnon9001 idiot. LOL I love it when people try to be funny and witty when instead they just make themselves look like morons. Nice try.

  • Marioman98989897 mine is too. What band are you in?

  • Pause at 0:12. To funny. I love that red headed guy. :)

  • Im playing this in my marching band! its pretty cool

  • i love this song so much.... does this make me uncool that i love theatre music so much?

  • @sparklystuff007 I certainly hope not, because I do too, haha XD

I've listened to all of the Jekyll & Hyde songs at least 12 times each haha XD

  • @sparklystuff007 absolutely not!!! It's sooo cool to love theatre!!!!!!!!! :)

  • I LOVE this song!

  • yahoo

  • 2:59 SHIVERS...

  • @ubercarrots i know! that man has the most amazing, and to me, angelic, voice that ive ever heard!!!! you wouldnt think he could sing like that.

  • I did this musical and NIU performing arts camp. I was Lucy the Prostitue ;]

  • @pockadotdotz Hey Pimp daughter... lol

    i KNOW its u! :)

  • We did this as the opening song of our musical, Facade, in Dutch. It was wonderfull to sing it! Such a powerfull song!

  • We are doing this in Palmdale Ca of you are close enough to audition! AVDOT.org

  • Is the guy at 1:39 Morgan Freeman ?

  • @tomkoguitar Nope. It's somebody else. I don't think Freeman has ever done a musical.

  • I LOVE mp3iffy it WORKS just google mp3iffy.

  • love this song, love this musical but I HATE this version. Besides having David Hasselhoff as the lead, each member of the cast is singing and acting as if they are the stars--they aren't working as a whole.

  • God I wish I could of saw this on Broadway...

  • I love this song! I wish my school would put on Jekyll and Hyde :D

  • My high school's marching band did a routine to this song.

  • great song ,i love this musical, misto melodie ,imi place musicalul asta:d

  • super tare , imi place mult musicalul asta:D=great song, i love this musical!! :D

  • We're doing this show next Wed-Sat 7-10 April in our Town Hall, its going to be brilliant! Great Show with Great Cast! =)

  • we were supposed to do this musical in school but they canceled it

aaaa i was so exited to this!!

  • 2:26 Orgasmic Tenor Solo.

  • This is a GREAT song. And it is sooo much fun to sing. Especially with my company. :) x

  • dieses lied singen wir am humboldt-gymnasium düsseldorf im chor

  • i have said it on this video before but i will say it again. The Stride on this is sooo good, really undervalued. his voice is like guiness, and his phrasing is excellent. unlike some people (Hoff, im afraid to say) his voice is full of colour and concept

  • I like Hasselhoff as Jekyll, but he's a completely different person as Hyde; he scares me as Hyde

  • hasselhoff is a terrible singer. teh kid who acted at my schools performance of jekyll and hyde did ten times.

  • Comment removed

  • Boys howdy, we're doing this for our musical and our orchestra sounds like sheeyt :)

  • @TropicalTopaz he's better than some singers

  • Best opening number ever.

    It's so fantastically done.

  • I wish there was another full version of the musical on here that didn't involve David Hasselhoff!! Lol. I really want to see it but he's so hard to watch... Anyway, this song is fantastic! Loving this show so far. Except for that one little problem. =)

  • @orchdork607 haha your so right, he ruins it!

  • @orchdork607 He sickens me =[ heehee

  • @orchdork607 what is that problem?

  • @orchdork607 I hear you brother, I love this show...and the rest of the cast is really good...fuckin night rider

  • @orchdork607 Yes, there was some version.. but in Hoffs version the chorus is way better.

  • @orchdork607 Yeah, seriously. Robert Cuccioli was a hundred billion times better!

  • this is so well done. i literally can't stop watching it.

  • I think this is a great song -- It has some of the best, non-cliche lyrics in the whole show, and the music is great.

But I just wish the blocking was different... not digging the random muscle guys flexing for no reason.

  • the best song

  • Ok did anyone get chills at when the lights were dimming and they were all doing the haunting chorous number

  • @anti678978 I get chills throughout the entire song.

  • me 2

  • i do 2 a @ msassgl

  • Yep!

  • I would kill to have a voice like 2:57

  • me 2

  • Great performance, but why did they alter the lyrics?

  • they are using the original copyrighted version. Most likely your version is the one that complies with the copyright. That's what our highschool did.

  • I don't know, my reference is the original concept recording Wildhorn made. The lyrics are different there in some places.

  • amazing :)... just by looking at the video the song takes on new meaning... we're doing this song for group musical for a thespian competition :)

  • 2:58...Daaaaaamn....

  • we did this at school, and although i was playing danvers i got to do the 'im inclined to think' awsome!

  • I love this show XD

  • This is amazing...

  • Very well performed I think!

The original English version is much better than the German translation...

  • we are rehersing to perform this at the mo! brilliant song and perfor, mace! :)

  • great song

  • I'm doing it at the moment. It's a superb musical. Absolutely brilliant!

  • so amazing!

  • when do we see david hasselhoff?

  • He's not in this song. :) But he is in most of the songs of this production, notably "Alive," "Transformation," "The Way Back," and "Dangerous Game," and "Confrontation," to name a few.

  • Jekyll/Hyde whom The Hoff is playing is not featured in this number.

  • i've performed in jekyll and hyde :) amazing musical! we did facade with masks, it was immense.

  • It's cool to see a very young Kelli O'Hara here!!

  • i totally dne this!! :D ..was amazin! not professionally.. god i wud luv to be part of tht even as an extra hw amazin lol x

  • Everyone in this cast is absolutely amazing, aside from Hoff. Sure, he's in character and all, and hits the right important notes, but as far as legendary singing, nobody can top Cuciolli or Colm Wilkinson. In my opinion, at least.

  • Who in all things sane and holy is that red-headed guy who is so amazing when he sings, "All in cahoots"? Is this the famed red tenor? I've no clue about vocal ranges other than if I could sing, which I can't, I'd be an alto. I love this musical, wish we did it rather in than Guys and Dolls for SummerStock Toronto 2005. :P

  • I love this musical! Why do the lyrics seem to be different each time it's performed?!

  • In high school we did a medley of Jekyll and Hyde, and Facade was always my favorite

  • I'M INCLINED TO THINK!

  • I saw this in NYC in the summer of 1998 with linda eder.. amazing. I love this show!

  • You're so lucky! Eder is a goddess. :)

  • wow...

this is such an amazing song - i also especially like that red-headed tenor, his voice is so beautiful! The guy in the top hat and black coat isn't so bad either.

  • Danvers or the other guy? If its Sir Danvers, that's Barrie Ingham. He was Rattigan in the Disney Sherlock Holmes mouse movie.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually Vincent Price was the voice of Rattigan. If you don't believe me, look it up.

  • Actually, Barrie Ingham was Basil. Vincent Price was Ratigan.

  • its funny how that big black guy always has his shirt off......makes me think he asked the director every scene if he could do it with his shirt off!

  • I love this musical. We are putting it on at our local theater this coming Fall in October.

  • I love this song! And I love that red-headed tenor!

  • ME TOO! He's my favorite!! :)

  • lol.. im in the orchestra for this for our school musical.. the music is so hard to play.. but sound totes cool! =P

  • ...I'm inclined to think--

I always laugh at that part :D

  • i know uttersons part in this song are so random

    lol

  • Lmao... Nice terror song x] haha

  • This reminds of The Ballad of Sweeney Todd but much more spisocated version, sorry can't spell.

  • Well, Steven Sondheim isn't a traditional playwright. Jeckyll & Hyde is much more traditional...a pity really.

  • Funny, at 2:46 you can see a camera man

  • haha LOL

  • There's a lot of meaning in the message of this song.

  • Yes because it's 100% true.

  • w00t. First comment.

This is one of the best songs in this play! Jekyll and Hyde is the best play ever. <3
