I relate more to the actions and principles of Mohandas Gandhi and Nelson Mandella. @Filmmaster91 OK, It was V that told her that he had died, and Stephen Fry was arrested by Creedy who was sort of working with V just to get rid of the High Chancellor, and He told Evey, Fry had been killed to fit in with the facade of when V was holding her captive, thats what I thought when I first watched it. Each to their own interpretation I suppose, such is the beauty of film.

You do realize Guy Fawkes unlike V was not trying to install a free and democratic Britain, right? He tried to restore the less-than-tolerant Catholic theocracy that preceded the Protestant regime in power at that time. Though the Protestant government wasn't perfect it was part of the beginning of the separation of Church and State in England.

If it is that's interesting considering they had left this mortal coil. I suppose if it is then it would be symbolic that they had the will and desire for freedom that V's revolution embodied.

@Standuble yes also at 2:20 it is the little girl who was shot by the fingerman, the reason for this is to symbolize how the idea that V represents is prevalent in everyone who has his ideas. Or that everyone who shares his ideas was to attend, probably used by the director and defiantly intentional

I relate more to the actions and principles of Mohandas Gandhi and Nelson Mandella. I take the message of this movie as a more allegorical one that provides a sense of awareness and reflection on government, rather than literal radicalism.

@BigJosh226 i'm sorry man, i thought i made it clear i wasn't reffering to the content of the actions, i was reffering simply to the idea of destroying parliament house, for whatever reason. V saw it as an act of vengeance where there was suppression. undoubtedly i'm sure had either party been in place, the other prominent religion would suffer.. but Fawkes set out to beat the oppression on his. that is what V takes into account. the spirit of sticking up for your ideals. dont read it too deep

@BigJosh226 in V's case, civility could only be pushed so far before other actions had to take place. it's the people who decide what is allowed, what is regarded as civil... that were making things worse in his mind. from his perspective i agree with him. no use in pushing bills and trying to charm a dictator into "gently" stopping his crusade against various forms of freedom, all he could do was take them down. i wouldn't help Fawkes blow anything up for religious reasons. i hate that notion.

@HAYDS510 Yes, I am aware of that, but it doesn't dispute the fact that people use GF masks as symbolic representation of opposition to autocratic tendencies by governments, when in fact Fawkes didn't oppose tyranny, he just opposed Protestant tyranny. If you're going to use the mask of a historical figure that fought authoritarianism and oppression, wear a Miguel Hidalgo mask or a Yusuf Akçura mask.

@Filmmaster91 OK, It was V that told her that he had died, and Stephen Fry was arrested by Creedy who was sort of working with V just to get rid of the High Chancellor, and He told Evey, Fry had been killed to fit in with the facade of when V was holding her captive, thats what I thought when I first watched it. Each to their own interpretation I suppose, such is the beauty of film.

You do realize Guy Fawkes unlike V was not trying to install a free and democratic Britain, right? He tried to restore the less-than-tolerant Catholic theocracy that preceded the Protestant regime in power at that time. Though the Protestant government wasn't perfect it was part of the beginning of the separation of Church and State in England.
But, all in all, this was a very kickass movie.
