least hotrod helped were the fuck was magnus to people blaming rod when it hasbro wtf it was never rod nor rodimus fault get over optimus death i mean shit i am tired optimus prime fans bitch season 3 got fucked over because of youlle
I will say that I always get teary-eyed when I watched this part. I sympathized with Hot Rod and what he tried to do. I wish I could have jumped in there and helped Optimus Prime. I got so upset when Megatron shot him.
Megatron: Why throw away your life so recklessly?!
Optimus Prime: That's a question you should ask yourself, Megatron.
Megatron: No! I'll crush you with my BARE HANDS!
--Later--
Megatron: Optimus is dead! I crushed him with my bare hands!
When you first saw this movie and didn't know any better (for example, when you were a kid), who else thought Megatron kept talking about "bear hands"?.....When I was a child....I did. XD
To this day, I still blame Hot Rod. Optimus would have finished off Megatron and lived if he didn't interfere. Did you see how Megatron one handed-handed Hot Rod? Pathetic.
why is it whenever its optimus vs megatron, optimus is always the one that gets pierced with shit? all that happens with megatron is that he gets thrown around. id liek to see a sharp rock go right through megatron sometime. :P
You know what would be nice? If they actually did a special edition with all of the deleted scenes or all the scenes that never made it past the story board, including the defeat of Devastator.
You probably already figured out what the scene was, but supposedly right before Prime gave his classic line, Dirge tackled Prime from behind and was subsequently drilled headfirst into the ground.
It might be on the DVD, but I'm not sure. I think the only reason it was removed was for time constraints.
Which is kind of funny, since the scene on the Autobots shuttle when megatron and them slaughtered the autobot was extremely violent, and so was them tearing apart Ultra magnus on the planet of junk.
It was planned yes, But at the end they decided to stick with Megatron shooting Optimus prime. It was like this in the movie theater and there is no deleted scene in the DVD.
What I don't get is...Autobot City is a HUGE transforming battle station with cannon's the size of Trypticon. Yet, it's destroyed in a couple of minutes by a handful of Decepticons using their standard pistols and rifles. The Movie used many unworthy excuses to finish off the existing characters to replace them with new toy figures. Prowl, Brawn, etc. were killed in 1 gun shot what's up with that?!
It wasn't a matter of min look at the sky changes. They were actually battling all day and night into the next morning when prime arrives. That much fire power over that much time can bring down anything. Look at how they get in devastator rips open the walls and tears cannons apart with his bear hands.
The one shot kills were dumb they get explained by the bots being so low on energy they had no defenses but Hasbro has even said this was just a way to clear the old line. If they had realized how much we loved those characters they wouldn't have killed them off in such a manor. That's part of the reason they resurrecting prime in season 3.
Yup, Nelson Shin said in an interview that Hasbro and even Peter Cullen didn't realize the season 1 & 2 Autobots and Prime were loved so much by the kids. If they knew Prime was like God to them, they would never let him die in the movie. Good thing they gave Prime back to the fans in season 3.
unfortuntaly it sparked that tradition of killing him in every show only to have him come back in the next ep. its so tired time to change the tune writers please.
That's very true, but when that happened they also didn't have the heart to tell those kids that they had already planned to bring Prime back in series 3 as a zombie and kill him all over again, which I found hilarious...
Actually Metroplex was just part of the city. Most of Autobot City was just a fixed place city, with some of the buildings having concealed gun emplacements for defense, whilst some of the guns were part of Metroplex, who was a seperate Transformer simply attached to the city.
No, Metroplex was Autobot City, he didn't have the ability to transform until Five Faces of Darkness when he was given the transforming cog. In the original footage that was used in one of the rare trailers it actually shows Metroplex in his battle form shooting down Decepticons as they are jumping from the shuttle.
"Designer Floro Dery has described how he created his own design for Autobot City, but was then instructed to add elements of the Metroplex toy to it - presumably, this is what caused the confusion, which was eventually straightened out when an establishing shot of Autobot City in Thief in the Night clearly presented Metroplex to be a smaller sub-section of the city."
Pay particular attention to the last part of that quote....
the whole idea of hijacking the spaceship was so they can acheive a surprise attack. by the time autobot city was transformed fully ready for battle it was too late. the decepticons was already inside the city. the guns of autobot city was made for long range battle well outside the city.
There wasn't just a handful of Decepticons either.
There were at least 2510, which is the number shown as Perceptor is calculating their numbers from inside the city.
I remember somewhere reading that this was supposed to be the largest number of Decepticons ever gathered in once place, and Megatron sent out across the galaxy for them. We just didn't get to see all of them.
@Cathain78 Good point. I believe that the Decepticons brought along a ton of generic, possibly mindless jet drones. They were duplicates of Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Dirge, Ramjet, and Thrust. Some were hidden inside the hijacked shuttle while the rest of them were comprised of the Decepticon forces still operating on Earth. Remember, the Decepticons had that huge underwater base. As soon as the Decepticons reached Earth, Megatron gave orders for them to prepare to attack the city.

Let's see, Megatron had to shoot Prime at least 4 times to get him on his knees. Prime had to strike him once to get him on the floor...
