  • omg he mean country Turkey ? :S we are not wild this is The fiction of the Nationalist

  • DO I GET A PRIZE?? IWAS # 20,000 to view this!! COME on MAN !!!

  • saw these at bogarts, new street birmingham, 1974ish, cost 10p entrance. Best 10p ever spent.

  • i listen to "We Used to Know" from Stand Up (J.T. 1969)... and i finally realize that, even though Don Felder and Joe Walsh really sparkled on those tasty leads, the song is pure Glenn Cornick. If the Eagles won't say it, let me: "Thanks, Glenn!" That is a beautiful chord progression and song structure. A funny coincidence: when i play my "simplified" (i.e., best i can do) version of Hotel California, i sound a LOT like Glen on "We Used to Know".

  • One of my first albums ever, recommended by a friend. Crazy that it's on utube.

  • This is awesome, always wanted to hear these guys, now i can!

  • cool song, however that opening lick sounds like the one from pearl jam's even flow. They probally thought that know one would know because Wild turky are so obscure.

  • @corm1000 Hate to burst your bubble but; I saw Wild Turkey in 1971 after Glenn Cornick the bassist left Jetro Tull & formed Wild Turkey. There's no way anything was taken from Pearl Jam; now for the record I do love Pearl Jam but, I think in 1971 Eddie Vedder (was born December 23, 1964) Vedder was 6 or 7 years old! I saw Tull concerts way back then & still love them!

  • @77nightingale I meant that pearl jam may have taken the riff from wild turky. I should have made that a little more clear.

  • One of the greatest early hard rock albums of all time. This track in particular one of my all time favorite songs. never gets old, however the whole album is out of this world!.

  • For Denisse Parada!

  • bought the album Sanctuary when it came out & still play it

  • Un misto di Jethro Tull e King Krimson.....comunque B E L L O !!!!

    roy

  • o man, glen could sure lay that shit down good.

  • I sure am glad I didn't buy this album back in 1971.

  • WOW. Fantastic. I can just see some record A&R man saying, 'we already have ONE Led Zep, thank you.'

  • a great lost for me while relocating to singapore in 1975 when this album along with 50 other classics were lost on the way there. tks 4 posting. can't seem to find their cds can anyone help.

  • Kinda sounds like the band Kansas. Cool stuff.

  • @taylor88100 YOU KNOW..I TRAVEL TO SINGAPORE ALOT NOW..THEY HAVE SOME GREAT CD STORES NOW WITH LOTS OF CLASSICS..HOW TIMES CHANGE

  • @apachescalp tks alot for yr info bro. yea you are right things have change alot since my relocation then, the culture have opened up and rock music is no longer tabboo and long hair is allowed now. in fact i've managed to recover some of my lost treasures. good to know you are in the scene too. keep on rocking.

  • I saw them in 72' w/BSabbath & YES, at Winterland!

    Effinay!

  • I love this album! Just listened to it the other day. My favourites are probably Twelve Streets of Cobbled Black and Dulwich Fox, although Butterfly is great too.

    Hell, the whole album's great!

  • Anyway, nice bass-line and great bass intro. As I've wrote, Cornick is wonderful!

  • That vocals reminds me Guns'N'Roses. Fucken band and fucken Axel! Hate them!!!

  • Vocals, vocals.... I don't like such vocals, while the song is fine. Glenn Cornick is a great man!

  • Saw them in San Diego in 71 or 72 opened for TYA - Great Show ! Glenn's 62nd Birthday is 4-24-09 reWiki.

  • @NeilThompson

I saw them with Sabbath in Birmingham. Yeah - Cornick was amazing. And is still one off my fave bass players. And the albums still sound as fresh as they did 30 yrs ago.

One of the all time mysteries why they didn't make it big.

  • Agree. I saw them at Wellington Town hall, Shropshire, brilliant base player. Thank you for the post.

  • This rules

  • Saw the Sabbath/Wild Turkey tour at Newcastle - February 72. Cornick did an amazing bass solo. Great band - I play this album in the car all the time - really good, crisp, rock production.

  • saw them live at bogarts, new st birmingham, 1976, cost 10p to get in, what value for money.

  • Great band and great song! Have both, Battle hymn and Turkey!

  • great band cant beat Glen Cornick's bass work saw them at Malvern (Worcestershire)early 70's the support band was a unknown band called Super Tramp.

  • first time I've heard Wild turkey -- I always like Glen cornick's bass work -- this cut reminds me of both Tull and James Gang - not bad!

  • I figured this out on my P-bass finally! the hard part is that beginning ascending slide tone.

  • I'm a bass player also . Try playing thier song " butterfly " . After several years , it still leaves my fingertips feeling like bloody stubs.

  • How do you achieve that vintage tone?

  • yeah they opened for black sabbath in 1971.

  • Wow man I saw them open for Black Sabbath in 1971 as well in Los Angeles, very cool

    Rik

  • shit they rock to this day-Kurt

  • This was one of my fave bands from the 70's. They were great live!! One of the best gigs I saw was at the Croydon Greyhound.
