i listen to "We Used to Know" from Stand Up (J.T. 1969)... and i finally realize that, even though Don Felder and Joe Walsh really sparkled on those tasty leads, the song is pure Glenn Cornick. If the Eagles won't say it, let me: "Thanks, Glenn!" That is a beautiful chord progression and song structure. A funny coincidence: when i play my "simplified" (i.e., best i can do) version of Hotel California, i sound a LOT like Glen on "We Used to Know".
Hello from Vienna Austria ! search : Wild Turkey Haymon Maria Buttinger -I wrote that Song about WILD TURKEY - because when I ws in New York it was the 1. Bourbon I got at King Crabs -it was such tasty so that I still -when I drink Liqueur -only drink him -
cool song, however that opening lick sounds like the one from pearl jam's even flow. They probally thought that know one would know because Wild turky are so obscure.
@corm1000 Hate to burst your bubble but; I saw Wild Turkey in 1971 after Glenn Cornick the bassist left Jetro Tull & formed Wild Turkey. There's no way anything was taken from Pearl Jam; now for the record I do love Pearl Jam but, I think in 1971 Eddie Vedder (was born December 23, 1964) Vedder was 6 or 7 years old! I saw Tull concerts way back then & still love them!
One of the greatest early hard rock albums of all time. This track in particular one of my all time favorite songs. never gets old, however the whole album is out of this world!.
pretty cool. never heard of these guys before today.I was watching an old ad for sabbath master of reality tour. with wild turkey.thought id do a search for them. great music.its fun to find old stuff you never heard before
a great lost for me while relocating to singapore in 1975 when this album along with 50 other classics were lost on the way there. tks 4 posting. can't seem to find their cds can anyone help.
@apachescalp tks alot for yr info bro. yea you are right things have change alot since my relocation then, the culture have opened up and rock music is no longer tabboo and long hair is allowed now. in fact i've managed to recover some of my lost treasures. good to know you are in the scene too. keep on rocking.
I love this album! Just listened to it the other day. My favourites are probably Twelve Streets of Cobbled Black and Dulwich Fox, although Butterfly is great too.
I saw them with Sabbath in Birmingham. Yeah - Cornick was amazing. And is still one off my fave bass players. And the albums still sound as fresh as they did 30 yrs ago.
One of the all time mysteries why they didn't make it big.
Saw the Sabbath/Wild Turkey tour at Newcastle - February 72. Cornick did an amazing bass solo. Great band - I play this album in the car all the time - really good, crisp, rock production.
Cerain Jetro Tull influence here... Saw them somewhere near Norwich UK... Inspirational stuff at the time...

@77nightingale I meant that pearl jam may have taken the riff from wild turky. I should have made that a little more clear.

first time I've heard Wild turkey -- I always like Glen cornick's bass work -- this cut reminds me of both Tull and James Gang - not bad!

I figured this out on my P-bass finally! the hard part is that beginning ascending slide tone.
toecutterr6 3 years ago
I'm a bass player also . Try playing thier song " butterfly " . After several years , it still leaves my fingertips feeling like bloody stubs.
MSPARKS 3 years ago
How do you achieve that vintage tone?
