  • there is too much break in your motion when you push press. the motion should squat into a push press. one motion

  • @Jayskyglider23 Its not a thruster, they are two separate movements.

  • @Jayskyglider23 no, that is the incorrect way of doing the complex. The press should be separate from the squat, it elimanates momentum.

  • does anyone else have trouble switching from the front squat grip (couple of fingers off the bar) back to the normal grip for the press?? In the video he does it as the weight bounces up at the top of the front squat but without the bounce I struggle to make the switch...

  • the seven reps is one round. typically you do five rounds, increasing the weight each round. At least thats how I understand it.

  • I have an erection

  • how many sets in the complete bear?

  • that Looks like alot of weight

  • do u have to take your hands off after each cycle?

  • Excellent technique!

  • very nice work!!

  • Niceeeeee

  • Impressive.

  • Dude's a machine but he can't count 90kg = 198 lbs. Don't sell yourself short.

  • @weirs8 No, he's mixing his weights systems (lbs/kgs). Hes' got 80kg + 10lb = 84.54545kg = 186. Plus collars though, so yeah he is selling himself short by the weight of the collars lol :)

  • dude this guy is a machine

  • Most people would have bailed after the first few, Serious determination man!!

  • I have never seen anybody who has upper body longer than legs. Kind of funny.

  • mad respect. i plan on doing the bear my next workout, but with 135. i hope to be where you are broski.

  • I feel like I'm getting a workout just looking at this video.

  • Dude you are a beast! Got any suggestions for books or videos for how to learn to do those complexes? I've only ever down the slow lifts but want to learn to do some olympic lifts.

  • Guys, thanks for the video, its by far the most clear and comprehensive instruction ont he bear. I think I have it nearly right but now and again I am pulling a muscle where my neck joins my back. I dont always feel it straight away either. The only injury I can compare it to is whiplash! any idea what I may be doing wrong? I figure it has to be related to the powerclean?

  • This guy is fucking man.

  • damn nice squat form, i think your legs have the best proportioons for squatting, my humerus is too long compared to my shins si its kinda hard.

  • im jelly.

  • Damn it must be nice to have t-rex arms when locking out a push press

  • @EricMCKiller the t-rex is known for having the smallest arms between the dinosaurs... .... was that what you were trying to say? lol

  • looks brutal, I'm going to add this to my training

  • Damn dude, no homo, but you have an awesome physique.

  • @gsrxcivic you sound like you're a massive homo, definitely sounds like you want to gobble on his cock

  • Animal

  • Why aren't you wearing a shirt?

  • @coachese68 - LOL!

  • This is one of the best demo/examples of how to do the Bear Complex.

  • the exercise is a brutal workout....186lbs?.... i'm not convinced.....

  • did you do it for 5 rounds of seven sets and that was your final one ?

  • YOU'RE A FREAKIN' ANIMAL, MAN!! Great job!!

  • That was some serious lifting! ...great form...ive seen other videos with some real sloppy form...going to try this tomo... great job

  • The dude is prolly 186 lbs. To push press your BW is impressive already. At least to me.

  • Good form and control!

  • why do u stand there with the bar on ur lap?

  • @naraku127 im guessing youve never done this. not allowed to touch the bar to the ground longer than abiut 2 seconds for the power clean touch

  • i have done it, waiting with the bar there would get me tired though, maybe im holding it in a wrong position

  • @naraku127 yeah, i guess it could. you could just hold it in the rack position. It depends where you wanna take a break, during a rep or between.

  • Holy crap man, a damn heavy bear. Good stuff.

  • Reminds me of the "brown bear" I did in college on the crew team - but it was more endurance and less power. It was curls, squats, overhead press, clean and jerk, upright rows, 45 seconds on, 15 seconds off on each exercise with a 45lb bar for 40 minutes, never putting down the bar. I was told the workout was originally developed by a coach at the Naval Academy's crew team.

  • IMPRESSIVE!!!! GREAT WORK.

  • BRUTAL.

  • I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean by "regular cycle". Could you explain please? Also, this workout seems to use functional everyday movements, so I would say it's applicable to daily life.

  • and you are?? apparently you're a desk jockey in the military. people do movements like these all the time in the field. go out and see the world you pencil pusher.

  • You're a soldier and that automatically makes you a fitness expert? He's doing all compound movements and and some explosive ones too. By doing them in a complex he's also getting an insane metabolic workout. He could just do this and he would be a better sprinter than you, even if he never sprints. All the moves translate to real life. Not only that, but he has a crap load of strength too, most people couldn't do that much weight on a lot of those moves if they just did straight sests.

  • What part of your body does this workout not hit? Chest? Great workout.

  • HAHAHAHA... WTF kind of rest position is that? HAHAHA.

  • @rockad1054 if you drop the bar i think its a 10 burpee penalty. at least thats what it was the last time it was on the WOD

  • I do this all the time. I didn't know it was called anything. I just use it to get my lungs wasted and keep myself explosive.

  • Lots of respect for The "Bear Complex".. I have a PR of 135 right now, but hoping to hit 155 pretty soon and keep working my way up.. Awesome form.. and dude, I know how brutal that workout is.. Good stuff

  • Very good workout! I will try it next week.

    Thanx for that clip.

PS: What's the name of the song?

  • sorry for the last reply but the song name is click click boom by saliva

  • late reply

  • did this exact exercise today, ouch.

  • Excellent Drew, outstanding!

  • very nice work....strong

  • Great job mate - I wish I could OHP 80kg with form.

  • Impressive dude! Good job.
