What a specail post! Jacqueline Sussann - how we miss her! Was in New York last week and went past the Plaza, The Peirre and The Sherry Netherland. All landmarks bought to life through Ms Sussann. Would love to see the whole series again. I loved it!
Wow! I have been wanting to hear this song again for over 25 years!!! It was never released by Dionne Warwick on CD. I loved the show (Catherine Hicks was great) it was so flamboyant and CAMP! Dynasty started the same year (1981) go figure!
I love this song. Does anyone have the two songs Dionne sang for the movie, "The Love Machine"? They are named "He's Moving On" and "Amanda". I know they came out in 1971 and were both written and produced by Bacharach and David.
Yes. I have the soundtrack "The Love Machine" on LP. Along with the two mentioned songs, it also has some great instrumental tracks, such as the smooth and seductive, "The White Fox."
If you ever upload these songs or the soundrack in total let me know. I love the whole soundtrack and despite it didn't set the music charts on fire it is a hit with me.
I, too am hoping that this miniseries version gets uploaded soon. My mom first saw this on TV back when it came out in
'81, but said she didn't like it very much, because it wasn't true to the 1967 movie. I never saw this '81 version, though, but I will keep in mind what you said--not to expect anything too great when I see it for myself. :)
I have wanted it so badly in my collection. Although it wasn't a hit, it is the ultimate
example of the Mistress's vocal perfection. NO ONE Could sing this like Dionne. She is my ultimate favorite. What would pop music be without her? "What would become of love songs"?
Her voice is just such a marvel. She sounds like it's 1968 on this one, while at other performances around that same time her voice was totally different. It's almost like she picks her voice out of a hat: light and girlish one day, sultry and husky the next, flat footed belter the day after that. So very versatile.
I am planning upload selected scenes from Valley of the Dolls 1981
I taped Part II back in the day... Meanwhile, enjoy "The Lonely Lady" on my channel for your Hollywood camp and glitz fix...

I posted a comment long time ago. Sorry, I misspelled Sammy Cahn. It should have been a C. I hope I didn't spell anything else wrong.

Yes, please, someone upload it! However, don't expect anything too great - this was a third-rate miniseries (over 2 nights) from what I recall.

I need this song badly at this moment as I am in a rage and I know from past experience this song and Dionne's music can soothe the savage beast.
