Wow... this is an incredibly bad music video, one of the worst of Nightwish's. The song itself is catchy, but the video is stupid, a mix of a video and "making of", and I don't need 3 shots of Annette eating an apple.

I think Anette sounds better than before. Good for her. I like the stuff Tarja's been making since she left too, and I can appreciate Anette better now. It takes a lot of courage to replace someone like Tarja, and I bet most of the people here on youtube hiding behind their anonymity could never sing as well as Anette does.

Seriously people, don't expect Anette to sound exactly like Tarja. I love what they once were, I love what they are today. It's still awesome and amazing. It still ahs a good beat and I really liked Dark Passion Play. You know what, if you dont like Anette, either go listen to old Nightwish stuff or listen to Tarja's albums. Get over it and stop your damn bitching. After writing for one voice for 8 years tuomas could have become almost a one trick pony, (meaning only able to write for tarja) with both the change in vocal range of anette and music style hes showing that he is a true composer and not just a song writer like soo many nowadays.
Just be happy that their is still true music like this being written.

This is a single from the album, pretty much all singles are 'mainstream' and more 'poppish', like 'Nemo'. If you listen to the whole album, it's definitely still symphoic metal.
As long as Tuomas and Marco are in the band, I will keep listening. Without Tuomas' incredible talent, Nightwish would die. Tarja might have a nice voice, but she doesn't do so well without them, in my eyes at least. Go Nightwish <3

First time hearing a song from this new album, and I thought it sounded and felt like a mix of the "New" and "Classic" Nightwish. I can't quite explain it, but I like it.
I've listened to this song at least ten times today.... Lol.... The lyrics are amazing and I like the twist that Tuomas has made in music. Can't wait for their concert in Slovenia in May. :D

anyone else feel nightwish would be better as simple instrumentation with guest vocals every now and then? tarja was alright (pretty, but her english was awful, and yes that does matter because that's the language she sang in) and annette's alright (nice voice, nice pronunciation, incredibly poppy and annoying to watch,) but in the end I listen to nightwish for the choir stuff in the background and for the instruments. could anyone else give a crap about the singers?

@amaranthrules I'm not saying that you should not take the audience in consideration, but not take them as the only consideration... for example you write a song that you don't really like but it sells... it feels a bit shallow, when feeling of likeness of both sides is equal that's the perfect song, but the composers should think... alright I like this song, now I need feedback, but never "people tell me what to write" and then play it thinking "I hate this fucking song"
I miss the Opera sound Nightwish had. I'm not saying I like Annette less than Tarja or anything, but I really think that the Operatic element that Toumas used in Oceanborn is what made Nightwish so special to me when I first discovered them.
I totally agree with you, Stitchpunk9, I have only just come across this mega amazing band and they absolutely blow me away!! I've never ready such incredibly exquisite lyrics either, just so colourful, emotive, imaginative - Toumas is something else! The whole band is epic!! Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em!!!

People need to back off on the singer issue. Bands change members all of the time. The album is beyond terrific. And it is more than just Anette, although she is fantastic. Well done, Nightwish, well done!

As long as Tuomas and Marco are in the band, I will keep listening. Without Tuomas' incredible talent, Nightwish would die. Tarja might have a nice voice, but she doesn't do so well without them, in my eyes at least. Go Nightwish <3

anyone else feel nightwish would be better as simple instrumentation with guest vocals every now and then? tarja was alright (pretty, but her english was awful, and yes that does matter because that's the language she sang in) and annette's alright (nice voice, nice pronunciation, incredibly poppy and annoying to watch,) but in the end I listen to nightwish for the choir stuff in the background and for the instruments. could anyone else give a crap about the singers?

@fercychan How many times to I have to repeat myself? I don't blame them for kicking Tarja out, I'm sure it was the best thing for the band itself. But I'm just saying they should get a good replacement, not just half-decent. And about the critics, that depends on what critics you choose to read. I for one don't think that she fits most of their songs.
Her voice works on songs like I Want My Tears Back. But Ghost River is just complete shit ;d

(I agree with him) so stop whining about she being half-acceptable, she is acceptable FOR tuomas who writes and compose all the songs... he knows better than YOU do!

@fercychan - It all comes down to a matter of taste really. My ears doesn't automagicly think it sounds good just because Tuomas chose her as a replacement. I listen with my ears, not through facts or circumstances. Music is not about knowing, it's about feeling and listening.

@amaranthrules I'm not saying that you should not take the audience in consideration, but not take them as the only consideration... for example you write a song that you don't really like but it sells... it feels a bit shallow, when feeling of likeness of both sides is equal that's the perfect song, but the composers should think... alright I like this song, now I need feedback, but never "people tell me what to write" and then play it thinking "I hate this fucking song"

I miss the Opera sound Nightwish had. I'm not saying I like Annette less than Tarja or anything, but I really think that the Operatic element that Toumas used in Oceanborn is what made Nightwish so special to me when I first discovered them.

I totally agree with you, Stitchpunk9, I have only just come across this mega amazing band and they absolutely blow me away!! I've never ready such incredibly exquisite lyrics either, just so colourful, emotive, imaginative - Toumas is something else! The whole band is epic!! Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em!!!
