Ryugyong Hotel is now under construction. After 16 years of dormancy, it is in progress of completion with the help of the Egyptian telecom giant Orascom Group.
i want to know who they are gonna place in this hotel, this country is kinda limited in tourists and so colorless (what i see is so gray and tastless). at the same time that reminds me of old times of russia, now we are in the past with this.
This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Why do some people outside the country of the great North Korea or Democratic Peoples' Republic of North Korea seem to hate this remarkable and great building of achievement.
The whole thing is just creepy looking; looks like a portal to another dimension or something left behind by a long gone extraterrestrial civilization.
Imagine a NASA probe finding THAT on one of Jupiter's moons.
@nanoman33 ha ha ha. i know its been there forever I agree. I find this video so retro and what a sham. I heard it has major structural issues with the building they had to stop construction. I doubt anyone wants to go live in there. looks more like a prison then beautiful/ ? I guess north koreans dont know what " beautiful means. I say ask Kim jong il to sell his multimillion dollar yatchts and porn movies to finance this so they can finally finish this ugliest building Ihave ever seen.
i want to know what's it like in north korea? like what's society like there? it seems so quiet and dead. How are the ppl there? are they scared to talk or speak out?
Are you risking some kind of punishment by taking these videos? I'd hate to think so, but I must say, I can't stop watching these scenes. It really seems so foreign. I feel sorry for the people.
hmm, i would almost dismiss it as propaganda. in december 08, they put a glass-fassade on the side facing central pyongyang. but i took some close-up photographs of it and it needs a lot of work. that concrete has been crumbling for about 20 years and needs a complete make-over.
Even if it were true, it would still be a waste of money, since they have yet to fill the Koryo Hotel and the Yanggakto Hotel. They're completely empty.
@nnoborigin nah, one of my uncles does business and often times stays in Koryo and Yanggakdo Hotels. He says theres about 50 people in Koryo and upwards of 100 people in Yanggakdo most of the time, and that most of the visitors were foreign arms dealers.
@nnoborigin I used to think this date was overly ambitious myself and the the NK and Orascom Group were just tooting thier own horns but considering the progress by febuary 2011 they might finish by April 2012. Another thing, I looked at Orascom Group, It has three major branches. Orascom Telecom (given a monopoly on the 500,000 cell phones in the NK), Orascom Construction (helping finish the hotel and hydroelectric plants) and Orascom Hotels and development (Methinks orascom has a plan)

Isn't North Korea a totalitarean state that doesn't let anybody leave its borders?
For some reason that doesn't appeal to me.

Perhaps the most boring country to live in.

Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, you visit North Korea. I'm sure glad you have not been abducted to train spies.
