The drop tests look really interesting... one question though, does normal or hard skating make them generate noticeable heat?

@grimcity What's up Grimcity. If you skate them barefoot with the foam side touching your foot, at times you can feel some heat when you land hard. It's not uncomfortable and feels good to know that energy is being felt as heat instead of going to your cartilage. If you skate them cloth side up, it's not really noticeable.
