I remember this show and the host before Andy who died and Devine took over. The morality was different in those days. hard to falt people because they just didn't realize that animals are so aware. we know better today. As far as the "darkness" of the show, I know what you mean. Not only this show but many seem that way to my ancient memories. I recall as a youngster in the early 50s watching "Robot Monster" late at night with the same eerie darkness. Still, great stuff.
How anyone can watch this and not be outraged beats me,immense cruelty how can there be 7 likes. These videos only serve one purpose to future generations how NOT to behave!
I used to love this show as a kid. What did we know back then about animal cruelty, etc. Boy, things sure have changed! I was amazed to see it now after all these years. It seems that no one I talk to remembers any of this but me!
Ah those were the days when we tortured small furry animals for our children's amusement and we were grateful that there were monkeys for scientific experimentation .
I watched Andy's Gang when I was very young, surely not more than 3 or 4 years old. Though I loved Andy Devine in other things, this show really creeped me out, especially the cat and Froggy. There was a darkness and strangeness there that I'm sure wasn't intended, but that made me avoid the show after a few episodes. Even Andy seemed diabolical somehow. (Others on other lists have said the same thing.)
Thanks for posting these. They sharpen what I can only dimly remember.
How cool was this! It was like a flashback to my youth! I told my kids about this show and "plunk your magic tanger, Froggy" and they thought I'd lost my mind. Glad to see I haven't!

It was to use them for tests. You certainly would not see anything like this today. Poor Monkeys!

The show was done without a real audience- the kid audience reaction film was canned.

absolutley wonderful it is, it is. My brother and I would laugh our butt's off when Froggy came on. Loved when he tortured Professor Billy Gilbert.

bmcgar. the monkey video is sad. but if A. Devine, Midnight, Froggie et al creeped you, you were a wimpy kid.
