i would have agreed before the final. but losing to a very tired nadal on a hard court... that was innexcusable. it was such a winnable match. nadal killed him on clay. beat him on grass. now on hard. before nadal came along federer had the good fortune of being in his prime during a pathetic generation of players. and finally a decent player comes along to challenge him, and he cant meet this challenge. does this really sound like the story of the greatest of all time?

Federer may be lacking in fitness now, probably he is a littled aged now than he used to be. But for skill and tactic-wise, he is still the best.

nah you have got it wrong! there is a host of reasons why nadal has beaten federer.

first off nadal wasnt tired,he only played 1 5 set match to get to the final and if you remember fed played 1 aswel and they both had a day of.second everysurface bar the us open has slowed dramatically which suits nadals game to a tee,third nadal was very different to all the other players when he came on tour,he ran down every ball which started getting to all of the players,to be continued.

you say they both had a 5 set match like that means they're the same. rogers 5 set match was 4 or 5 days before the final and it was against berdych. nadals 5 set match was 2 days before the final, was the longest match in Australian Open history, and was against verdasco playing the match of his life. he beat fed for the same reason as always: fed doesnt take his chances. he had 6 break points in the 3rd set. got none. at wimbledon he got 1 of 13 BP. at the 2007 french he got 1 of 17. he chokes

hes extremely fit but he's not super human. no one can play 5 and a half hours of highest level tennis and feel no effects of it after just a day of rest. thats why he called the trainer during the match. no human body works that way.

you dont have to be super human to play a 5 and half hour match at the highest level! nadal makes it seem that way with constant grunting which sounds like hes in agony every shot. like i said he played 3 5 set matches in 07 wimbledon so leave it. watch his match again and imagine his shots without the grunting.its the same with fed he played 2 5 setters but you didnt hear him grunting so evryone thinks its effortless for him,but hes still going through the same as nadal.and hes 27.

You can bet there will be a new generation of tennis players who try to emulate his stroke technique and way he generates power. His shots are not only effective but nice-looking.

It reminds me of when I played so many guys who tried to emulate Sampras in his day. They would strike the same pose before serving, use his racket, come in to net a lot, even wear his shoes.

Federer's forehand goes a long way to improve the way we all approach doing forehand.
