I guess at the end of the day let this be a lesson to the boaties.

While its thier modus operandi to sink or disable mthier bat when close to the Navy or land, they may need to think twice before they disable thier boat in storm conditions.

As was proven in this case we were unable to rescue all of them and while disabling thier boat stopped them from being turned back, most of them cetianly will not be going back, ever.

I feel its a bit unfair to blame Labor for this incident.

Yes the reason we are getting inundated by the boats is Labor's "Open Door" and money hand out policy, however while yes they come to Oz to get this but they make the choice not the Laborites, Activists, Civil libertarians/drug addicts etc.

@JOHN58476 I agree...if Labor brought back in mandatory offshore processing which was proven to stop the boats when the Coalition was in power....these idiots would not dare to bother coming here and risking their lives...not to mention those who have to rescue them and the hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money being spent every year to process and house them.
