  • Should probably show pictures of Baltimore and not NYC XD just saying as someone from B-more haha

  • 3,500 miles away... must be on the west coast?

  • one of the best on this cd.

  • I NEED A PHONE CALL!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE IF YOU COULD????????????

  • @WantTheSAMEasANYONE Everything.

  • someone was playing this song at a coffeehouse and theres a railroad in front of the store... well right at "i need a freight train" a train went by.... everyone freaked

  • This is real life when the plasticity of vinyl gets into the way of breathing, if you are sufficating identify how you are feeling and express yourself

  • helped me get sober.

  • @Snpdrgon Helped me discover alcohol, actually.

  • classic

  • I'm 73 miles west. Its sunny. love the song though.

  • this song on homicide life on the street = amazing

  • i was kinda afraid to play this song. I was afraid of what it might unleash... everytime

  • Whenever i feel alone i love to listen to this song. Whether it makes me feel better or not its a great song

  • It is now raining in Baltimore, thought I would share this

  • @Berkeleyization ...and I'm six thousand nine hundred miles away.

  • i was getting sober to this album.

  • beautiful (:

  • Beautiful song good music stands the test of time

  • lets see justin bieber or hannah montana come up with lyrics like this...fuck them all. counting crows all teh way

  • "you get what you pay for but i just had no intention of living this way,"

  • i miss you so much

  • these guys always know how to hit my deepest feelings, the singer and the depth in his voice. Countin Crows - August and Everything helped me a lot growing up when I wanted to escape from the fake people and their pop and happy music lol

  • It's so depressing.. Just what I wanted

  • HOLD UP it is raining in baltimore now. crazy.

  • We all need a raincoat my friends...

Yes, each and every one of you out there, even the bad people...

  • Very impressive, luv how you've captured the essence of this beautifully, haunting song in your video. Being a native of Baltimore, the lyrics hit my heart hard....can truly relate to what Adam is feeling. Incredible songwriter & singer ~

  • this i true music

  • Incredible song. One of their under-rated gems.

  • @OldHickory1971 I know. It tells a story, but it's so beautiful and melodic too..... miss this kinda music. Unpretentious but deep..

  • @sp4eva1 so very true. I miss the music with meaning. This one still tugs at my old heart strings.

  • @OldHickory1971 It sucks tho, cuz I didn't like any of the albums Counting Crows released after this--they kinda fell into bland pop music.

But we always have this 90s classic.. so amazing. The album is gorgeous.

  • @sp4eva1

So true. August and Everything After was a great LP.

  • @sp4eva1 i dont think anybody could of followed up with an album better than this

  • What a beautiful video! Good to see a decent slideshow for once.

    So many heartbreaking stories here...

  • it rocks

  • I actually met Adam Duritz when this album was out. Down to earth and willing to socialize.

  • This is some song. I know I've needed a phone call. A plane ride.

  • i need a phone call

    i need a plane ride

    i need a sunbird

    i need a raincoat

(anybody else hear sunbird, not sunburn?)

  • Why do I always play this when someone rips my heart out and spits on it?? I need a phone call!

  • Wish I had not left the country when he last came to me....needed me...and I wasn't there.....Now it's too late......

  • My mind tortures me.

  • Wunderschön!!!

  • My favorite Counting Crows song. Great visuals to go along with it. Thank you!

  • Alone at night I tend to think about all the things I need and believe it or not, this song always is playing in my mind. Talking personally, I'm thinking about adopting a child being single, and if my dream comes true, I'll play C. Crows to him/her over and over, so he/she can appreciate the value of simple things in life in music.

  • @MyNameIsJonas574 Hope your dream comes true! :D Wish I had been raised on Counting Crows...

  • Baltimore 15 miles East sounds like He's around Catonsville or Ellicott City

  • @Bigben1984 Catonsville and Ellicott city are southwest of Baltimore. if you take the lyrics seriously, he might be referring to Essex or something on the bay, but they might just be lyrics too

  • @alexbans6971 No no no he says that Baltimore is 15 miles east of him so therefore he would be 15 miles west of Baltimore which would be like Catonsville, Woodlawn, Ellicott city or something like that.

  • @Bigben1984

actually i looked the lyric up. he says "50"miles east so i guess Frederick? what the hell he's doing in Frederick is beyond me

  • @A2ndVoice lol nerd frederick is west of charmcity

  • @LunaOccurrence

yes i know. he says that Baltimore is 50miles east.

that would make him 50miles WEST of Bmore.

so yes...frederick is west of charm city. good job

  • @A2ndVoice Now why would he be in frederick ? He says it's rainging ine Bmore and 50 miles east you should be? da da dahhhhh

  • @LunaOccurrence

i will attempt to learninate you more. then i give up

    the lyric goes

"it's raining in Baltimore, 50 miles east"

"where you should be,no one's around"

from this we can discern 2 things

    a) Baltimore is 50miles east of him,or he is 50miles west of Baltimore. same thing

    b) he feels that someone should be somewhere(presumably Baltimore, possibly wherever he is), but no one's around

he could be anywhere 50miles west of charm, but Frederick is the largest i can find there.

  • @A2ndVoice Yep that's right because 50 miles East of Baltimore would be like the middle of the Delaware River somewhere between Delaware and New Jersey East of Dover and thank you for pointing out to the other guy the 50 miles East of him so he is 50 miles west of Baltimore

  • I did'nt see any Baltimore I know here? Ive been from east to west and south to north..Dont recognize anything here?

  • My favorite song from August. Recently moved to the AL. Gulf Coast. Everything arrives by boat or truck. Can't hear any trains no matter how hard I listen. Really miss that sound.

  • Sadness never sounded so sweet. Great song.

  • Maybe I should buy a new car.....

  • I luv the Counting Crows! and I luv Baltimore!

  • This song braks my heart every time I hear it...but in a good way...Y'dig?

  • I can always hear a freight train, baby. If I listen real hard.

  • one island, one album... no question

  • I just clicked the Neg'. Didn.t mean to.

  • I need a sunburn.

  • I love what you did with this video. As a photographer, I hope the shots are yours to use, but I'm going to pretend they are because it's so pretty.

  • you get what you pay for but i just had no intention of living this way.... god that will haunt me to my grave.

  • i love this song. one of counting crows best. you can feel the emotion. check out my cover of this

  • I just had no intention of living this way

  • Dude, this song is good. I'm gonna start listening to Counting Crows, you sold me on them

  • I especially love this song. All of his music is expressive of how he felt at the time. What an accomplishment to get any record company to buy into your feelings. But one of my favorite bands.

  • "i can always hear the freigh train

baby if i listen real hard"

when i was a kid i lived in this transit town on the border, and at nights i used to lie awake and listen to the sound of trains passing through, thinking about how much i wanted to leave there and never come back... i left, eventually. but the sound haunts me still.

  • What would you change if you could?

  • Everything. Her. Smoking. Drinking. Drugs. Would have let her in if I knew it was the last time I was going to see her alive. Would change alot. Wouldn't change listening to Counting Crows for 15 years though.

  • 0:45

that picture reminds me of a photo taken of my sister when she was just a little girl. she was holding this bright yellow duck umbrella, ans she haf the dearest smile on her face... Reminds me of when times were better. Wonderful song.

  • awesome imagery for one of the best written and played songs of all time.

  • Reminds me of sitting on my sister's carpet listening to 'American Pie" while the rain poured outside...

God I wish he would write music like this again...

    My favorite album...

  • thank you so much for posting this... this song brings back memories everytime i hear it... its.. wonderful...

  • i love this song. reminds me so much of the greatest love of my life. every time i hear it, it reminds me of her and what she ment to me and everything, just what her love did to me. she was from Baltimore. and it was a chance in which i went to Baltimore. fell in love with the city. this song is everything i feel for her and what it feels like not being with her, i will always love her.

  • Adam Duritz is from my hometown of Baltimore. EVery time I hear this song, I think of home.

  • likewise. kinda makes me homesick.....

  • i need a phone call

  • First heard this song 14 years ago, can't believe it's been that long. Beautiful. if I was going to kill myself, I'd probably do it to this one. Or I could go completely the opposite way with it and kill myself to something completely inappropriate. Police kick down the door, I'm swinging from the ceiling and blaring from the stereo is Bobby Mcferrin going "Don't worry....... be happy." Goddamn I type a lot!

  • Gosh I love this song!

I wish I could relate to this song.

Where I live its always sunny :(

  • Great lyrics sung beautifully.

Images are very nice. Love the black and white in the video.

    10 stars!

  • i can relate to this song....i live in a small rainy town in montana....almost every line....i love this song...

  • This song is so beautiful and I've only recently really started relating to it. I'm from the UK and lived in the midwest of the US for a while, and when I came back I felt kind of lost even though I was supposed to be home. Felt enstranged from the grey city, missed the desert, even missed the sunburn :-) and no longer owned a raincoat :-P

Also missed a special person who was suddenly on the other side of the planet. This song just said it all for me.

  • We used to always laugh at the part where he goes on at the end about wanting a sunburn. LoL we were 16 so it didn't make sense at the time.

  • i grew up to this album, perfect in every way.

what happened to them? they should have just stopped. this was the best they were ever

  • Take the time to listen to the other albums. They are sooooooooo good. Also listen to the live releases they are epic (so much better live IMO). August and everything after is there best but their are some jems in their other music.

  • and I don't have nothing to say...

  • very nice job.......B

  • You get what you paid for; but I just had no intention of living this way. (:

  • I live in Baltimore. This song fits it perfectly sometimes but other times its the exact opposite, it is very lively and free. I love it here.

  • iv felt that here in scotland ,,what would you change if you could....like to hear a little guitar..defo need a rain coat ..cuz it winnie hud back wee the dreich!

    honast.,,Ilove it here!xo)

  • It's Raining in Baltimore...only some pp know I was born there...so they know.. I wish it was a small world...It's always raining in Baltimore for .me...God... I really need a rain coat...

  • Personally I love to count sheep but then I fall asleep.

  • i will always love counting crows.

  • im nt sure about dis 1 but CC is awesome, there other songs are much more lively and more of an inspiration

  • Amazing pictures. They fit the mood of the song nicely.

  • Very evocative images - LOVE IT. I giggled when the first pay phone popped up!

  • i luv this song so much 1 of the best songs ive eva heard

  • Awsome! love the photo choices! another great video!

  • I really enjoyed this. What is it about the rain?

  • its about pain and loss and missing someone

about what it feels like to be somewhere you used to share with someone and they arent there anymore
