No one has seen a graviton, either. No Christian alive saw Jesus speaking. You've probably never seen George W. Bush or Barack Obama with your own eyes, yet you're fairly confident they exist. And certainly no one who wrote Genesis saw God make the word in 7 days or create the garden of Eden. If we want to stick only to things we literally can see, then we can't believe ANYTHING, pretty much. The fact is that evolutionary theory explains numerous facts we do see better than any competing theory.
hello mr fredrick christie can you speak more on this topic...i have a question at 6:08 you said that evolution is a real fact but since no one was actually alive during the time of the dinosaurs or anything before that isn't it more accurate to leave it at a theory ....nice video but its obvious you're pro evolution and it shows with your continuous down talk of religious reasoning
Further, while we didn't see dinosaurs, we DO see evolution, every day. We see it in breeding of dogs and how the breeding caused different traits in those dogs. We see it in how bacteria develop resistance to antibiotics, through selection. We see it in DNA evidence, we see it in similarities in organ structures between mammals, etc.
There's another point to make. I DON'T "down talk" religious reasoning. I in fact say in the opening that religious reasoning is essential. Unlike Dawkins, I believe that religion and spirituality are important spheres of inquiry and questioning for humanity and for happiness. My point is that religion should stay out of science, AND VICE VERSA.
Being a Buddhist, it would be very strange for me to "down talk" religious reasoning. In fact, I ACCEPT religious reasoning, particularly Buddhist and to a lesser extent Taoist, Sufi, Sikh, Quaker, black evangelical and Native American spirituality and religion. I consider myself a Buddhist and not an atheist. So to say that I somehow down talk religious reasoning is very strange indeed. I just agree with the Dalai Lama that if science disproved a tenet of my faith, I would change that tenet.
