You are entirely right. I used to hold a grudge against other Christian sects but we are all serving the same purpse. We need to help each other out and unify. Stop fighting, lift up Jesus Christ. I'm pretty sure Jesus doesn't like Christian rock: "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking" Matthew 6:7
That's not the only place in the Gospels where Jesus cites that he does not appreciate loud praying ('people in the public square') or worship. He prayed in private and quietly and there is only one verse in Mark that mentions a hymn being sung (and there is not clarity on whether he took part....it sounds more like the apostles were drunk). It seems he liked fishing a lot more than he liked song. Also - hymns originated with the early pagan religions in Egypt....but, whatever so did communion.
If we quote Jesus, it would be wise to take things in context and avoid using his words to support our own beliefs. Jesus was talking about those who pray to get attention. This was done by the priest on a regular bases to make themselves look good, not for the purpose of prayer or true praise to God. God also says to loudly praise him with symbles and instraments. So get off your soap box and don't claim to know what Jesus likes or dislikes unless he directly stated it.

I was simply pointing out that you separated the two with "God or Jesus" ... as I was a Christian for 20 years...I never heard anybody say something like that. Why would Jesus want people to pray in quiet and privacy and then turnaround and scream their heads off in large groups? Also - that verse (as they all are) was translated in more than one way and in certain editions the word 'worship' is used.

We as Christians are always quick to judge others. But only God knows the heart. He has not given us that ability, because only he is the rightous judge. One of the things that Jesus hated most was the self rightous religious crowd who judged others. We should always examine ourselves to make sure that we have not let the pride of our salvation turn us into that.

Jesus used those terms on those who should have known and welcomed Him but didn't.

that verse has nothing to do with whether Jesus likes christian rock or not.
as long as your heart and mentality is in the right place, any "christian" song can be pleasing to Him

That's not the only place in the Gospels where Jesus cites that he does not appreciate loud praying ('people in the public square') or worship. He prayed in private and quietly and there is only one verse in Mark that mentions a hymn being sung (and there is not clarity on whether he took part....it sounds more like the apostles were drunk). It seems he liked fishing a lot more than he liked song. Also - hymns originated with the early pagan religions in Egypt....but, whatever so did communion.

If we quote Jesus, it would be wise to take things in context and avoid using his words to support our own beliefs. Jesus was talking about those who pray to get attention. This was done by the priest on a regular bases to make themselves look good, not for the purpose of prayer or true praise to God. God also says to loudly praise him with symbles and instraments. So get off your soap box and don't claim to know what Jesus likes or dislikes unless he directly stated it.

you may be right abuot him not liking Christian rock but who are you to judge? plus, that biblical reference is for praying not giving PRAISE AND WORSHIP a bad view to others. why in the first place would you think God or Jesus wouldn't like praise being given to his name?

thats a stupid question of course i do. but ur taking this conversation to a whole nother level. you said that you didnt think Jesus likes Christian rock. were not talking about the Holy Spirit in this case. As Christians were meant to love one another, so this arguement is pointless. i repeat, why wouldnt God/Jesus/Holy Spirit want us to praise them? i dont really get where ur point is coming from a biblical reference to prayer and attacking a praise song. it would be helpful to explain plz

I was simply pointing out that you separated the two with "God or Jesus" ... as I was a Christian for 20 years...I never heard anybody say something like that. Why would Jesus want people to pray in quiet and privacy and then turnaround and scream their heads off in large groups? Also - that verse (as they all are) was translated in more than one way and in certain editions the word 'worship' is used.

the trinity is composed of God Jesus and the Holy Spirit, of course theres going to be specification. where in the bible does it say to go and scream our heads off in large groups? i know you dont mean literally but idk a biblical reference about that. i think the answer tho is that he doesnt want us to use big words to talk to him, but wants us to talk to others about it. idk, when i get to heaven ill let you know

Have you ever though that mayb she is known as a freak bcause she is a Christian. Christ is about LOVE not puttin someone down and tellin them what they are not doin rite. Y dont you leave that up to God unless you r totally righteous and then i believe HE said you could cast the first stone.....

Maybe she also meant Freakygirl as in being weird. To whom ever put her down, any sexual conotations were brought up by you first.
We as Christians are always quick to judge others. But only God knows the heart. He has not given us that ability, because only he is the rightous judge. One of the things that Jesus hated most was the self rightous religious crowd who judged others. We should always examine ourselves to make sure that we have not let the pride of our salvation turn us into that.
