By the way, Singapore has Chinese as majority group living there. It's just that, small malays population is there(and other ethnics). So, they learn English in school.

Taiwanese are of Chinese descent. They are from Min group which speak Fujian dialects(Me too).Like, Hakka, hokkian, and others. In the old times, only young Chinese men moved to Taiwan. And Taiwan was inhabited by aborigines long before Chinese came to Taiwan. So they may be mixed with the aborigines.
