  • 1195 dollars was like a billion dollars now, right?

  • I just watched a TV Show on PBS about Gameshows! They Had an Interview With Dick Van Dyke and they had a Picture of him on the Price is Right Set! He was the Firat person that NBC wanted to host the show! He turned it down and they hired Bill Culen!

  • Bill Cullen > Bob Barker.

  • And a BMW! He later sold it to Stephen Urkel

  • 60MPG? Psh I have a Nissan Titan that gets like...18...on a good day.

  • That Isetta 300 seems as if it was a precursor to the Smart Car.

  • So why does it take so long to get concept cars on the road when they already existed? :0) Driving that thing must ha e been a hoot but I'll bet there were psychological issues (fears) of the front (with the steering wheel) suddenly opening while driving. IThat & the craze for bigger & heavier & longer doomed this little gem.

  • we had this show in aust. but not as old as this one, but its amazing to see the amounts that are won, lol, 1000 dollars in 1957 was a really large amount of money, wow and i too love to look how the times have changed, dont know if for the best in some things, but tv shows have certainly changed big time, imagine showing pimp my ride in the 50's, ha ha

  • dear michael this is a great video, i remember this kind of shows on the dutch tv when i was a kid, hugs and kisses margo

  • @shakensel Hi Margo. I guess game shows are popular all over the world :) Thanks for commenting :) -Michael

  • @saphopoem Thanks Jen. Plenty to ooh and ah about on this show :) -Michael

  • I was lucky. On Thursday, August 2, 1962, my Mom had tickets to an NBC Studio (away from 30 Rock) to watch a taping of the original TPIR with Bill Cullen. They were on a 1 day tape delay then, and were using the huge RCA TK-40 color cameras. I believe the studio was called the Colesium (sp?). Because it was for color broadcasts, we were told that the Dinah Shore Chevy Show was broadcast from there also on Sunday nights. Since then, that building was torn down and this is where CNN is at.

  • Originally telecast on May 31, 1957 at 11am(et); Lever Brothers sponsored the first 15 minutes of the show, which entitled them to place their products in front of the contestants' desk and on the show's title, behind Bill...those icons vanished when NBC "sustained" the second half of the show.

  • Thank you for this video because it reminded my this was the year I graduated from H.S.

  • @thefairlysimple1 I think I would sacrifice some power to get over fifty miles to the gallon. These cars were very unique. Thanks for commenting.
