  • Russell Brand for Prime Minister.

  • thumbs up if russell brand is brandelious. i want to sit down with him and have a talk, im sure he'd have copious amounts to share which would change the way i see life.

  • Staggering? It's a load of waffle to be honest and using all those long words to appear to be a "genius". Personally, whilst I agree he does have a large vocabulary... I can't help thinking he is on drugs here... (sniffing, licking lips, manic, talks too fast, going off on tangeants, the way he moves combined with the talking b*ll*cks of course - if he were driving and acted like that I think he'd be taken to the station for testing).

  • It's a shame that he's most well known for things like Get Him to the Greek when this is what he's capable of

  • well done Russell Brand for having the vocabulary of an above average university student. wow he's insecure!

  • 3.30. No, but I am a very naughty boy Jeremy.

  • "Where's the part when I am skewed on a pin in the glare of your intellect" Russel.

  • A very intelligent, manic man, symptomatic of extreme bipolar disorder. I got the feeling that as an opponent of consumer culture of which he is, as he says, a part of, then he must have little regard for his fans.

  • @theindividualizt I can tell you, from firsthand experience, that he loves his fans. Just to let you know :) no animosity.

  • I've never been a particular fan of Brand, but I must say that this interview has converted me somewhat. He's clearly an intelligent man.

  • russell brand=my hero:)

  • That is the first time I've heard paxman laugh

  • Jeremy cuts Russelll off at 1.19 so can't distinguish his last few words ... Brand is brilliant here ..

  • I wonder if Jermey's quip about his energy prompted him to turn it up to 11 during this interview...

  • 'All I have ever wanted is too make peopel laugh, thats all Ive ever wanted'

You cant get a more genuine, kindhearted person than this. At his essencse you can tell he is just a top bloke

  • If Russell said he was the messiah, I would probably believe him.

  • the thing i respect about brand is he has a profound sense of seeking self, his purpose and the meaning of his life on Earth. For me that makes him more interesting than all the wit- which of course is also great- but the internal reflection that sometimes pours out in his interviews shows a more unusual and deeper side to him. Someone should ask him to make a book list of the titles he found most helped him develop his train of thought.

  • Perhaps if we could popularise through the techniques of branding and consumerism, a different idea, a different narrative, perhaps the world can change. After all it changes constantly and incessantly, it's just the perceptions that we have are governed by people with self-interest and are not inalignment with the health and safety of us as individuals or as a planet. AMAZING.

  • he's so eloquent it's refreshing.

  • -You seek death?!

    -Not death!!!

AHAHAHA XD just found that funny ;)

  • the way he answers the question at 3:08 is not human but from someone who is in contact with his "higher/true self"

  • damn he is awake.

  • Paxman clearly likes Brand, yet the concept is bizarre and almost unimaginable.

  • @StraitKnopfler Haha! Yes. I can sort of imagine them going off together after the interview to a club, both wondering to themselves what the hell they were doing together! I guess both Paxman and Brand are more than capable of ignoring the superficiality of outward appearances and connecting brain to brain.

  • The man talks a lot of spiritual bollocks for someone who is so spot-on about the influence of the media on the social collective.

  • I have only discovered Russell Brand in the last few days, and can't get enough of the man. I have concluded:

    1) Every interviewer starts out ridiculing him and ends up respecting him

    2) He is the second coming of Christ

    3) If I could become that brilliant after a history of crack/heroin addiction, I would seriously consider taking it.

  • @kickchick1974 If you've not already watch his interview with Dawn French, it's brilliant.

  • @MissRamble Thanks for that - I just watched it and he is sensational as usual. French is a great interviewer and is one of the few who can handle him respectfully from the word go!

  • @kickchick1974 I agree. That's why I like it actually, they just seem really relaxed and it's obvious they're enjoying it.

  • @kickchick1974 I arrived at those same conclusions! Amazingly so as to the point of considering him the second coming! Excluding any ambition of a heroin addiction (which contributed less to his genius that say drama or performance lessons), these past weeks in discovering Russel Brand has made me turn towards several "celebrity shows" ,which I would have despicably shunt in the past, in nothing but utter respect for the man.

  • He is talking about the ruling class, illumanati pretty much.

  • @MurrayHerts The concept of new world order implies that this "ruling class" is a conscious entity, while in reality it's more of a force of nature which is, in my opinion, maybe even more scary.

  • oh looky! there are absolutely NO dislikes to this videos which is AWESOME! because Russell Brand is marvelous :)

  • Wowzer he is teh clevers!!1! the way he use big words seems almost natural

  • Extrordinary message and all from a celebrity we generativity produced a prejudiced

reflex judgment towards. It's amazing how somebody can surprise you, Derived in the midst of all that is believed and practiced.

  • Vocab master! I wish to learn all this vocabulary to have it at my disposal in a blink.

  • Russell brand is literally staggering. I can't believe there are some people on various youtube vids who've used the word "talentless" to describe him. What he has is more than talent, I literally can't think of anyone who can match his intellect and quick wit along with the verbal fluency, endless vocabulary and social/communication skills that he possesses. Madness!

  • @fred5644 I doubt Russell Brand would have trouble understanding why there are so many who believe him to be "talentless". Yes, he is very talented and has ideals to be admired, but as he himself refers to in this interview, much of his work thus far has failed to display this. The media prefer to use his 'high-burning' persona for trivial, low-brow comedies which fail to do justice to his ability. Also, he (along with many of those I admire most) has an arrogance which could be off-putting.

  • The last words of Russell's at the end were very poignant. His motivation to make people laugh, is quite touching.

  • he is the most amazing man i think i've ever seen. this is incredible

  • Russell is awesome. wow, he is my messiah

  • Wow hes so different from the 1 leicester square days now! never thot he'd be on jeremy paxman..well in mate

  • If the whole world could comprehend and follow the words and idea's of this man. The world would be an amazing place. I think Jeremy Paxman had it wrong when he dismissed Russell as the Messiah. How wrong, we have yet to find out.

  • Jeremy's face at 4:12 is the best thing I have ever seen.

  • unity and oneness hes so spot on,CONsumerism is what we are fed to beleive we need..love from the heart get rid of ego.....

  • The Best Guest in Talk Shows and Interviews ever I think ..

  • england vs america. compare the larry king interview, with this one. who comes out on top? lol

  • I really thoroughly enjoyed this interview, it was conducted with respect and I appreciate Russell's honesty. Interesting point about desire, strikes a chord in me. I try to live my life in the same way, though I envy the energy of the man!

  • such a brilliant interview

  • @Moo0z0r

Yeah, I'm ignorant - and proud of it too. I am proud that I don't listen to third-rate comedian and drug addict spouting philosophy and then pretending his words are profound. Paxman, a man who has interviewed some of the most powerful people in the world, looks embarrassed to be there

  • @DavyTom71 So glad you said that.....

  • iv never seen pak man laugh before!! :D

  • @IBooMHeaDSh0T check out his interviews with Boris Johnson! :)

  • i used to love brand back in the day before he became very famous. but jesus. what can i say...he's off his rocker. i mean, God? really brand? i'll overlook that if he actually has some specific contribution to society that comes to fruition, seeing as that is what he seems desperate to create. apart from that, nothing he says here is original to me. i still like you russell more than the rest, if only for your manic cognitive energy, which i share.

  • what?! he believes in god? since when?

katy perry has been a bad influence. god apparently didn't help britney spears get in touch with her 'inner self'....

  • Two egos in a room. Paxman wins. Russell Brand is so pretentious - and he doesn't stop talking because he's scared Paxman will 'skewer' him.

  • @wgcs14 no u got that wrong. He doesn't stop talking because he has a lot to say and u can see paxman was in awe.

  • Brilliant, Russell Brand has finally woken up to the reality that western consumerism is creating hell on earth. X Factor, Big Brother, Shameless, etc are nothing more than information heroin designed to steralize the masses whilst the goverments, banks, corporations get away with murder ......literally

  • That was intense and insightful. He has gone up in my estimation.

  • Brand's admirable attempt at bringing recovery to the masses....

  • @Dave92rock

You are right, it's an interview on Newsnight and not meant to be high end comedy.

Why do people watch a clip of someone they clearly dislike, only to moan about them?

I wish I had enough time in my life to watch enough of the material I do like, let alone the time to watch clips of people whom I know I dislike.

  • @nickgooner Very well put!

  • The guy's off his head. Go into a nightclub where the customers have been snorting coke and you will meet loads of morons like this prick: wild eyes, manic arm gestures, scary grins, and all of them talking total bollocks. Five and a half minutes passed by and this "comedian" didn't say one funny thing. A lot of people have been duped by this fraud

  • @DavyTom71

Bi-Polar disorder. This is a manifestation of this. Not drugs. This interview was not for comedic purposes really, so why should he say anything funny?

  • @alittlebluehouse

Because he's not funny - just a sicko. And all his philosophical stuff is as phony as a nine pound note; none of it means anything. I don't know whether he's got bipolar or not. I somehow doubt it because we never see him 'on a downer'. To be honest, I reckon we would have seen a blizzard if he'd sneezed during this interview

  • @DavyTom71 Just because YOU don't find him amusing or entertaining doesn't mean he isn't. Humour is subjective, surely you must understand this concept. As to your other comment, I seriously doubt he would allow a camera in his face when he is on a "downer" as you call it so your comment on that makes no sense.

  • @alittlebluehouse

For some reason, cameras are always following him around, and he always looks happy - so where is this bipolar disorder he's suppose to have? The ups and downs experienced by manic-depressives last for days or weeks, maybe months. Bipolar is quite easily treatable, and if Bland has it then he will be taking treatment. His bizarre moods are just part of the act, or drug-fueled; you decide, because I couldn't give a shit about the fame-hyped phony

  • @DavyTom71 like the Moriarty of people i really do disagree! i think he is a man to be respected, as unlike 99% of famous people who take drugs and thing bad HE has woken up and changed his life around...i know that for me that would be a very hard thing, plus he is very funny and very interesting person, it frustrates me when i read comments say things that truly and right...much like yours

  • @TheJackinder

Like the Moriarty of people? What the hell does that mean? He stopped snorting snow because he wants to get on in America - a good incentive to turn one's life around and one most people never get. I don't see much to be respected about Bland. And watching him playing Arthur is just sad. At least when he was on drugs he was unfunny but with an edgy and controversial personality. Now he is just an unfunny children's entertainer with a boring, bland personality. A total fraud

  • @DavyTom71 a boring bland personality? Id love to see the interesting intellectuals you must hand around with. Bland is the last thing you could call him.

  • @DavyTom71

I actually found myself chuckling on occasion throughout the full 15 minute interview but that's neither here nor there because it was at the end of the day an INTERVIEW. If you want a laugh from Russell watch his dvd's or listen to his Radio podcasts... which by the way, I suggest you do as you seem in great need of a laugh.

Another one of the Russell Brand hate brigade. He's not going to just disappear so why don't you just deal with it and stop wasting your time commenting.

  • @Dave92rock

You're right, I do need a good laugh. I just won't get it from Bland. I know he won't disappear because there will always be his army of gullible acolytes who are either too young to know any better, or middle-aged and desperate to feel young and fashionable

  • @DavyTom71 did you mean to portray yourself as such an ignorant prick?

  • @greensmith999

Only ignorant pricks resort to insults. Usually because they have nothing intelligent to say. Sound familiar?

  • @DavyTom71

you just feel the need to patronise people by pretending to sound inteligent.

everything you said was subjective and you believe only your opinion is correct. therefore my comment was quite accurate...

  • @greensmith999

I know my comment is correct

  • What ever people may think of him, hes one heck of a uniquely talented entertainer, quick witted and an extremely thought provoking intellect. Oh and the same goes for Russel Brand...

  • @theycallmemrglass the old pull back and reveal, classic :o)

  • This interview may surprise a lot of people to hear Russell Brand talking about Ascension, but it is just another sign on how quickly we are moving into the Shift of Consciousness and how it is being accepted right now by people in the public limelight.

  • @cinemabadge....Very interesting comments there. Undoubtedly we're moving towards something on an uprecedented scale. Good or bad we'll soon find out. I think everyone's starting to realise, we can't continue on the current path without something catastrophic occurring. We have to stop the madness of exponential growth in a finite world. Go back to a more connected way of living to the earth and our environment around us. Maybe this is the "Shift of Consciousness" you speak about.

  • fighting form

  • i've listened to all his radio shows and i don't think he's religious, i think he just likes the idea of it. he goes through religions he would like to be but i don't think he actually believes that theirs a god. he wants to be spiritual for some reason. but he just can't be he's not serious enough. but thats why i like him

  • me me me me... if he was an ice pop he'd lick himself away.. unfunny prick!!

  • My god, that lightning-quick intellect! I think he's brilliant, personally. It's a pity people are prejudiced, based on how many people he's slept with and how he dresses. Who cares.

  • @LadyLottimort

No, we're prejudiced based on the fact that he's crap.

  • @2Touchstone What an explanatory answer. Cheers.

  • Why can't most celebrities be like him? All you see today is people talking about who they're dating, who's cheating on who, who's in rehab. It's nice to hear some finally talk about something meaningful and actually keep their morals and want something better.

  • What a brilliant performance from Russell. This man is the fresh prince of bel air.

  • What a brilliant performance from Russell. This man is a breath of fresh air.

  • @2Touchstone are you, by any chance slightly jealous of a confident, intelligent, witty, attractive man who has slept with more women than you've had wanks that end in a torrent of self-loathing tears? understandable i suppose.

  • @intertubers

No, I'm not jealous, I just think he's shit. The people who love him strike me as fools.

  • @2Touchstone cheer up!

  • @2Touchstone

but how can you possibly label his fans as 'fools' when he fills this interview with brilliant and thought-provoking existentialist ideas and the false values perpetrated by consumerism, globalisation etc?

  • @JohnMerrick93

Well, he says it in such a glib, obnoxious, pretentious way. The people who talked about those ideas used to be eloquent and taken seriously, Russell Brand is just a preening, vain prima donna.

  • @intertubers hahaha
