The double slit experiment for laymen should always start with the example of water waves going through two slits. When viewed from above it clearly shows the interference pattern. THEN start about the attennuated laser experiment. And then, finish off with the real kicker: observe (detect) the photons and the interference dissapears, in other words, not only does the photon splits in two to create its own interference, as soon as we observe it reality changes.
I must be thick, i can't get my head around this but i will watch the rest and hope the pennie drops.

Being that a singe perceived object is in two places at one time, it's known in quantum mechanics as superposition.
