  • theres a modern version of this guy as a band called Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, they copy it pretty close

  • cab calloway is cool XD

  • Can someone please identify the specific (sub)genre of this music for me so I can find more similar? Many thanks.

  • @stuartg40

If your interested in the vocal teqnique, look up Jazz Skat Singing (hi-de-hi)

  • hey man, musically this is blues music, in my opinion because it uses the chords Eminor Aminor and B7, However with all musical genres there are very fine dividing lines. Most of my mates and myself refer to this stuff as Blues Jazz.

Its blues music with a slow swingy rythym. If you like this check out Summertime by Billie Holliday, or Motherless Child by O.V. Wright.. even check the version of summertime that was sung by Sam Cooke, that has got a real Al Capone Drinking den feel to it also.

  • @abaddon7878925 I think it might be called room jazz, or club jazz or somethin

    dont quote meh tho' :P

  • 30 people can't scat

All this time, I never knew this unbeknown-to-me song was called Minnie The Moocher aka Heighty-Ho which I heard on one of the Sesame Street episode I saw when I was a kid! Now, that's what I call classic jazz trivia! Ya learn somethin every day!

  • @enilausp I taught at an urban high school last year, and the history teacher played this to a class full of thugged out, tough kids. They LOVED it.

  • i am a white German, so normally one could say i dont know jack about soul, R&B and all that, but i do. i have seen many artists of the "black music" but NONE was like Cab! He was a true genius!

    Cant get enough of him!

  • The Man !

  • I had the pleasure of seeing him when I was about 15 years old. He was billed as "Pegleg"Calloway, and he was the half time act for the Harlem Globetrotters.

  • What a wonderful video!

  • Kid Creole was heavily influnced by this man. Cab was one of kind. Hep music can't be done today. The young people won't listen to it.

  • well' it was about 40 years later.

  • We saw Cab Calloway at a Frank Sinatra tribute, which proved to be Sinatra's last great performance, one of Mr. Calloway's last and also included Ray Charles. This gentleman, Mr. Calloway, was incredible that night in Pasadena, Calif.

  • /bow

  • Just love the Cabster! A true performer in every sense. It was a stroke of genius putting him in The Blues Brothers movie!
