Must have been a bad break. I just gotta titanium rod 4 screws 2 n knee and 2 in ankle region. only scars are a 4 inch on the knee from where they hammered in the rod, and its weird because some spots in that area are still numb after 14 months. And of course at the site of the break is a very small incision scar where the break was, (about 6 inches above ankle) when i flex my calf there's a huge dent where i broke it. Im 100 percent now though, no pain. good luck
Because my response comes up on other videos, I am female and my response to matts broken tibia with all the metal work outside the leg. My heart goes out to you for putting up with all that metal, that looks like a night mare. I have had problems with internal metal in my ankle but this is nothing compared with what you are going through. I wish you well XXX

You are lucky you aren't dead from what I've seen, most of the time when people get into bad motorcycle accidents they die. You are one of the very few who survive.
When I broke my tibia and fib, they said I might have to get one of these....so glad I didn't have to
damn dude that just happend happen to me too yesterday in the whoops at cycle ranch my rear end started dancing due to suspension problems and bucked me towards the right
it sux, i know...i had one of those on my tibia from jan 7th untill august 17th 2008...i know how it feels :S
and still now, december 17th i still cant run or do sports....hopefully in a couple months ill be able to get back on my motorcycle and start racing again...
I wrecked my motorcycle on the last day of may. compound fracture of the tibia and fibula plus some internal injuries. thank god i didn't have to have one of those external fixators cuz that doesn't look like much fun. how's the leg doin now? how long did it take to build up your leg muscles? i start physical therapy in a week and i CAN'T wait!
The fixator was removed around 8 months ago. Took about another 4 weeks of using crutches, then 6 weeks using a cane for support before walking without any support. Muscle build up took about 2 months, constant therapy at home in addition to the hospital therapy. It can hurt like hell, but you gotta do it. The bad part of this break was it was just below the knee, at the plateau the knee rests on. Still can't lift anything really heavy (like a TV) because of the pressure it puts on the knee
thank you so for answing me, its just that i have been searching for an answer to why is this taking so long. so after the fixator he did not need a rod in his leg. and how long did he have the fixator in his leg. my son had the fixator for 6 months and december 10 he went to the o.r. and got the rod in his leg.
hey when did this happen, the reason why i ask because my son has the same pins in his left leg and he too was in a motorcyle accident. he has those pin since june 4th of 2007 and now in december 10, it was taken out and was put a rod in his leg so in other words it did not heal. but the rod for some reason has got a bad infection so now he has too go back and get it remove and get other rod put in which by the way those doctors call it a hardware. I would like to know how r u making out.
Matt had his external fixator hardware removed on December 21, 2007. As of right now, he is walking without crutches, but uses a cane. His bone healed fine, and he was lucky that he didn't get any infections
