There are so many reasons why haters hate on gay people, and most of these reasons relate to the haters own sense of insecurity. They (the haters) see gay people as a threat! On the other hand some others are jealous because they don't have the courage to come out themselves. The bottom line is that a person's sexuality is nobody else's business. My son came out to me at age 13 and although I had my suspicions a couple of years before that, we never discussed it to that point. I was so proud :)

I got a little teary where you talked about what happened between you and your dad, that must have been really hard to deal with. But you're very lucky to have great friends and a wonderful family that fully supports you. Anyway, I hope everything is going well for you! Stay strong my friend!
