  • Amazing, considering they grow up listening to music that sounds like it was composed on the black keys of a piano! Many Japanese seem to be great impersonators. There's a Japanese girl who sings just like Karen Carpenter on YouTube, here. I think under "The Carpenters." She sings as Richard accompanies her on piano. His praise for her talent brings her to tears. Maybe idea of bringing Karen to life again for Richard. Who knows?

  • SO EPIC!

  • my friend's youth orchestra played this. i just LOVE IT.

  • Haha that's so cool how the two guys spun their basses on the squeaking parts :D

  • I liked it when it looked like their basses hit each other.

  • my school orchestra is playing this, and its fun to play, but after a while it feels tedious :/ and the squeaks are super difficult xD

  • I love to do the squeaks lol XD

  • We're doing this piece in quintet i'm in, it's really a lot of fun to play. but then again all of leroy anderson's stuff is.

  • Thats awesome. I'm playing it in my schools orchestra

  • Brilliantly conducted, brilliantly played

  • Damn, that Leroy Anderson was a genius!!

  • これぐらいのテンポが丁度良いですね

  • This piece was once the theme from "I've Got a Secret."

  • i have played this for middle school tri county orchestra (i was first chair cello!!! ^.^) and we did rush it a bit but that was part of the fun i guess. instead of squeaking we used whistles, slide flutes, clappers, a popper, and as the the conductor called it "a zing thingy"

  • I played this song last year with my orchestra. We didn't squeak, we stamped, clapped and whistled instead. And the violinists sneezed once.

  • lol

  • we did this for all region region.

noone could figure out how to get the half not gliss's.

and very few people could get their instrument to squeak.

  • lol. instead of the squeak the seinors choose something to do in that time. One year there were animal farm noises, another they threw rubber chickens into the audience, and every time our orchestra teacher wears a viking helmet.

  • lol. I wish my group was that creative.

but this was a serious event, and an honor to be there. so that wasn't gonna happen. and we were working with one of the most well known cello teachers in the state.

  • They are good but sort of boring our orchestra hasent learned all of it and we sound awesome!! Rock out Jackson Middle school!!!

  • ahhh I'm currently learning this for my middle school orchestra, any tips? ^^

  • Don't screw up?

  • Me too!! Hard to read the piece cuz ours is old!! i cant make the noise of rubbing my palm against the back of the instrument. Hard shit!!

  • I believe the secret is to have really dry palms, if I remember correctly (I played this a couple of years ago).

  • eh. i find it works better with slightly moist palms, so they stick

  • we played this for district! ^^

  • hi there, good performance and awesome. I've setn a video response from our youth ensemble. best regard from Lugano, Switzerland

  • This was done by the middle school tricounty honors orchestra where i live. boy, i wish i was held back to play this song!

  • Wow, they did pretty awesome. Much better than a public middle school orchestra...

  • Cool - five stars for an awesome band of music lovers!!!

    Thx for uploading

  • This song always reminds me of a kind of dating montage.

  • haha yeah or a little kid sneaking through a meadow after tying a sleeping grampa's shoes together

  • I love this song ♥

  • haha I love this song :)

    My conductor doesn't, though. :P

  • look at the conductor at 0:28 he does the robot

    i love this song!

  • @versatchie that's a pretty common gesture in conducting actually

  • im play it every year. im the concertino

  • im playing this song in october...

    love the bass twirl. :)

  • Our district orchestra is playing this.

Sounds fun to play, doesn't it?

  • in my opinion this version is a bit too fast

  • I agree. It's way too fast.

  • in MY opinion i think the speeds just right

  • This is a fun piece to hear. Leroy Anderson was a musical genius IMHO.

  • they don't even squeek!

  • yes...

the squeek sound was very small...

maybe they're afraid of their violin broken :-D

  • Cool! Our eighth grade and the high school Symphonic Orchestra played this recently!

  • awesome!!

  • we played this last year in 6th grade GO BASSES!!!!!

  • OMG and you're only amateurs? This is so freaking good!!!! You become the music, practically, cuz you add ur own coreography and all..... very very cool. I love it when they twirl the basses. Favorite! :D

  • great job =D

    It's so playful.

We are doing this in our Senior Chamber Orchestra. (I have blisters because we are playing guitar style, lol)

  • Oh and the hardest part is making the squeaks lol

  • Ha I love this song :] I'm playing it in All County. It's a looooot of fun to play!

  • Very nice, and I noticed how everyone's heads are kind of moving the same. It's really neat to see how not only it sounds like one unit, they move like one unit also.

  • Great video thanks for posting on youtube.

  • they're really good!
