Use the console to spawn the unit, to use it you need a map that has strider nodes, I hope that by the time the strider coding is finished you wont need strider nodes any more.

Sorry for posting again, but seeing the latest posts wondering why they can't get this game, I thought this might be useful. For Half life Wars version 0.5, you only need HL episode 2, as it has all the latest models and files, and the online program steam as it will verify and complete any more installation. You need to run this game off 'my games' list in steam or a shortcut connected to it.

PS: Typing 'map room' will open access to a standard map for screwing around as combine or rebels.

zoom right down to the ground then, type:

'give npc_strider', and that should spawn a strider. How you gain control of the unit?, I'm hoping someone else figures out with my info.

It may have something to do with the unit's 'ent_fire' command. BTW, you have to enable console in advanced options!

use unit_create unit_strider 3 to spawn a strider that should be on your team.

You don't need the three to control them. BTW, new builds include maps with strider support and you can edit the cost and recharge time of the strider's cannon in the game RTS script files.

Look up the Half Life 2 Wars Forum for the builds link! Also, typing in 'unit_create unit_(unitname)' might help getting any units (point the mouse where it can spawn). Other than that, you may need to edit building ability files to make extra units, like the strider, buildable.

The next version will support the navigation mesh system from css. You only need to type "nav_generate" in your console and wait for a while.

No info_nodes needed.

For some reason, I can't play HL2 Wars. It goes to the menu, then back to Windows, and it says that there's no Steam Content servers available. It looks awesome, though.
