Peter, I loved this story. I could relate to your main character completely and remember when I was permitted my own room.I am 21 now, but it just reminded me of home. Charlie reminded me of my little brothers too. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
The story was nice all the way through, but I think it shined with the girl's worrying and contingency planning about going off with a boy and with her interaction with Charlie at the end. Then the message at the very end was especially clever. I was also impressed with your ability to read aloud for such a long time with only a couple of stumbles. Thank you for sharing it with us.
A hot choclate in my hand, my young dog sleeping ón my feet, still recovering from jubilant playing in the afternoon, and from the sounds and movements he makes, I know he is still running wildly around in his lovely own dreams. The fire burning and occasionally I put a new block on. The noise when I open the stove's door, awakening him for a moment. Lifting his head shortly from the floor before he decides to get up and take over my easy chair again.
Peter explained in part one that the creative writing class he took involved getting them into book form, which you can do at a printer's. He was the author of the spiral bound book you see glimpses of in the video.
It has been a long time since I've heard anyone read a good story aloud. You're quite the storyteller Peter and I look forward to more of your childhood recollections.
Peter, I really enjoyed your story. It was riveting, and played with and played off of expectations quite well. Reminds me of a BBC drama. Is this part of a novel? The characters seem very well developed and I think they want to keep walking about and doing things. I'd love to see more fiction. You could also post text if you don't want to use up time reading it, but I prefer to hear you read it as well.
I was in suspense over what the gift would be that she'd bring home from the shore, never would've guessed it was going to be growth and change - Bravo! I'd love to hear more short stories about this family too.
hahaha "She's been going with boys." Another great story. You really capture moments well with your words. Taking time with the details about the putting on the shoes and it all coming out in the wash. I was lucky to only have to share a room till I was about 10. Well done.
Thank you for a wonderful story! I think you did a great job of capturing that sort of childhood limbo we all go through when we hit our early teens. It made me feel good to hear it, and I think there aren't enough stories like this! I really admire you and your stories, both fact and fictional!
Great story Peter. You made me laugh at times and felt sad as well. You have a lovely command of your character and enjoyed it so. Again thank you. By the way, is there a continuation to the story. Would really love to know what happens to her. She sounds like a very lovely girl.
Suicide? Heavens no! I would love to listen to all the stories you care to tell. They are just wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to tell them. Now, have a nice cup of tea for your throat!
Very nice , I could see the events as you spoke them from the story. Nice ending Sir! You are great, you should get awards for school books learning guild.
Wonderful job, Peter. Keep those stories coming. I prefer the real life stories, though. I'm waiting with baited breath for more... Long life and happiness to you and your's. Much love...
I loved your story. A charming tale written with great talent. Did you write more? Please consider reading others in the future. You have brought me great joy. My deepest thanks xoxoxo
Dear Peter, thank you so much for this... I listened to every word, on the edge of my seat. Please don't say you won't do any more stories. These are delightful!!! More, more, more!
By the way, in my message above I didn't mean that the story was childish, just that it reminded me of the sort of content I enjoyed as a kid, like books by Enid Blyton, etc., with children going on expeditions and dealing with family and peers.
Peter, really good work. It brought back such memories and I am slightly younger but I still seem to remember that ere. Thank you for doing in in two parts so its was twice the pleasure.
Wow, I did not realize it was so recent. Peter you never cease to amaze me. I know you have heard this many times but I will repeat it anyway, you are a true inspiration and a great asset to mankind. I hope you continue to share your life's story and readings with us.
not only that, but he's really cool. To use a phrase Peter used the other day...he's the bee's knees. The cat's pajamas. Or in the lingo of my youth, he's groovy. But in any lingo...he's definitely cool. :-)
I am new to youtube and just discovered you when preparing for work this morning. You can bet I will be listening to all of your clips...thank you for your great stories and your wonderful soothing voice!
Sir, another lovely story! Thank you so much. I went back to school myself and took a similar class a few years back. However, my "creative" writing was no where near as creative as yours. I think you did a great job writing from the perspective of a 13-yr old girl.
I hope you tooks some breaks when you read this story! I know how hard it is to read something clearly and straight through for over an hour.
That was brilliant Peter, thank you. In your story Thelma (very kind) reminds me of my Mum and Henrietta (bit tarty, selfish and goes for the wrong sort of man) reminds me of her sister, Enid!!
Love your stories. How about a book of 'short stories' from you. Or just a 'little' book called...what else..."Good Evening YouTubers." Since you have said that this experience has changed your life...I would buy a book and read about the who, what, when, where, why and how of your experience. Libraries would buy it. Love listening to your storytelling voice too! Wonderful! Take it easy though. Has to be overwhelming getting thousands of e-mails every day!!! Thanks Peter. :-)
I like your idea of a book of his stories because I enjoy reading the stories almost as much as I enjoy listening to them. And I hope one day, Peter or his tech pals will be able to put some of these delightful vlogs on dvd as well.
I couldn't get all the way thru part 2. For some reason, I can't get it to play all the way thru. So far I was enjoying what I did hear of your story.
WOW :D It's not often that I'm in the top four or five people of your vids, and I likey~ haha =) Nowadays you finally seem to be doing what you wanted in the first place - just being yourself without the pressure - and I'm sooo glad to see it. Hope you're well, sure seems like it! Always with love, Sunny:)
