shit all you need to do is wetsand with 2000 grit and maybe 1 more coat and sand then polish andit would look like a professional(expensive) job. good vid
do you own a paint shop? If you are I just would like to ask why do you show to people to sprey thier own cars If you doing it? you losing your customers and money...i just dont see a sense of it, sorry
@IndieFrogStudios because your the only one that cares and noone else does!!! lmao! just deal with it jesus...just like a human...rather bla bla about spelling than the message being delivered...no wonder america is dumber than ever!
@kmitchem4 You used the wrong 'your', which is pretty common mistake. You want to use 'you're', which is a contraction of 'you are'. Commonly this is taught around elementary school.
and its jus thateasy ehh ahah can u ever use to much of that clear coat and wat color would be the simpleist color to work with ?? i thinkin aobut doin this to my multi collored car i jus got hahaha :P looks fun tho
Dude - good job for trying ...but frustrated the heck out of me as i could not hear half of what you are saying...next time, hook the microphone to your collar ! no echo and clear
I like your video but I am concern about your health. That stuff is very toxic (some of it even deadly) and you are not wearing any protection or a respirator. Take care of your lungs and the toxic levels on your skin by wearing a paint suit, gloves, and an air filter mask.
Thank You for the quick respone. I wam going to paint my entire car. So when would I start sanding and with what grit? So Once I primer, find the low spots, fill the low spots, sand and smooth using 360 grit, then primer again? Then wet sand the primer to make smooth to receive the spray paint?
Jimmo great stuff man. I work in a shop and I like your vids because you use most of the techniques we do lol. Keep it up even though I do thing like this all day I still have a great time sitting here watching your stuff thanks.
@smithjo4152 You would want to use 1000-1500 when you want to wet sand a scratch out (1000 if you are bold and have done it before) 2k will refine the other scratches more so they are easier to buff out. 3k In our shop we use after 1500 to make buffing WAY faster, we also use it in conjunction with 2000 to make clear blends.
I did basically the same thing you did here except I sprayed epoxy primer with an HVLP gun prior to painting with my spray can. The problem I'm having now ist aht it seems as though the body filler/primer has shrunk and the body work can be seen a lot clearer now.
Is this because I didn't wait like 24-48 hours before spraying my color or just shoddy body work? I was told to wait to let the fillers contract etc...but you didn't do that in this video?
@Pendemic From what I know, It's bad body work. Primer / body filler will shrink overtime so the more you use the worse it will look in the long run. You want to have to use very little body filler and have the body already as straight as possible.
@Pendemic Sorry I cannot answer that, I am not experienced in painting cars. I do not think that primer will shrink that fast. I would let the filler sit at-least overnight before priming.
is this catalyzed clear easily buffable and please what is the difference between fillers, glazes and putty? do they adhere to different surfaces, which ones?
i spray painted my hood and now you can see the lines from the clear coat and some spots are brighter then others, will it buff out all shiney or am i fuc*ed?
Good post I have a bumper I painted this way I used ur vid to guide me I spent about 2 hrs and maybe 45 dollars in material and it looks amazing maaco wanted 245 dollars to paint it glad I tried it I need to redo my sideskirts soon thanks again for the vid
Thanx for posting this video! My car needs paint bad and I don't have the money to pay Earl Scheib or rent a booth so this will be how it's done. A case of cans with some clear. Nothing fancy but should keep my old heap from rusting away. Maybe when I hit the lottery I'll have it done right but this is how it's going to get done.
Your videos are great, Jimmo, but the sound quality does not make it easy to understand what you are saying on account of the echo in the shop. Not sure what I would do about it. In any case, thank you for posting your great videos.
i'm a pro beater and sprayer, rattle can jobs can look just as amazing as gun jobs, the big factor in this is the technique rather than the materials.
anyone doing a rattle can job for the first time, get an extra can and see what happens if you spray a test panel too heavy and too light, then you know where you are at on the job for real
same with the clear, better to have orange peel than to risk getting loads of runs trying to get it smooth
thanx man.. reli good stuff.. there was a lil bit of echo in voice. anyways if u can keep the mic closer to u next time it would be great and also put annotations when you use different products.. thanx again.
Why is it that there is always one douche who just has to hit "dislike"? I mean really, if the video were offensive in some way....which it isn't....then fine...hit the stinkin' dislike tab....but c'mon...it's jimmo4life. How could somebody not like his vids?
I love these videos and want to attempt my own paint job one day soon here. What I never see answered though is what does a guy need to paint a car in his garage? I was trying to find out for instance, what size compressor would I need to get the job done, no more and no less. There are so many opinions on this alone that I'm more confused now about it that I was before. Hook us up with a getting started video jimmo4life!

Do you usually wait after shooting primer/filler to let it shrink overnight or do you just continue onto the next step?

Yea it's just weird because in all his videos it just seems like he goes and sprays paint right away and doesn't let anything shrink.
