  • This was my favorite song as a kid. Now, as an adult, I love it just the same =)

  • I love this song!!!

  • Great song, nice video montage.

  • santa anna les pateo el trasero a esos traficantes de esclavos.

  • I have read the book; interesting premise. Good discussion of one side (Mexican). Even Mr Tucker characterized the defenders as 'gallant'. You are determined to cast the defenders as miscreants; so be it. I am, however, not misinformed nor am I vulgarly hanging onto cliched arguments made from Marxian talking points. You are an ideologue. Good luck to you.

  • PS: Until you read Exodus from the Alamo--the latest best research on the Alamo I think you better reserve your misinformed comments.

  • someone tell me this story??

  • my friend says "we beat down the crackers."lol

  • @SuperCman72 fuck you with youre crackers, mexicans are also white, but they wnat to be diffrent, so they sey they are brown, stupid shit.

  • Wow, can't believe the hate that spews here on this. I guess I'm and ancient. I believe they were soldiers fighting soldiers. No one will ever know for sure what the Alamo defenders went through at the last moments, nor what SantaAna decreed his men to do. I have to believe that both fought and died gallantly as they could. Must have been a hell of a fight if we are still discussing it 111 years later.

  • Slave owning bastards. Most of the Alamo defenders ran and were cut down by the Vera Cruz lancers. It was all about slavery

  • @Deguello321 full of shit ten for every brown turd mexcian was killed by the alamo defenders and shits like you will always talking and doing nothing try to take texas again cowards.

  • @tomanyasses

Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa pale face. I am a white guy! I just don't believe or support your racist crap. Go to your KKK rally and wipe your butt with a coonskin hat NAZI bastard

  • @Deguello321 again you think wrong of me but thats what you like to do , dumb like you honor no white people is your way, typical dumb female no wonder there so much crap going on idiots like you are dime a dozen. your type kills your own children to many low lifes like you

  • @Deguello321 Tell that to Juan Seguin.

  • @tikijane

You mean that slave owning bastard Juan Seguin? Sure. You don't know much about history. Seguin supported the pro-slavery Anglos becasue that bastard was a pro-slavery man himself. Go read and get some knowledge.

  • @Deguello321 I have read the history, much of it in the original Spanish. Take your own advice and read the history. By the way, not all of the Alamo defenders were Anglo and few of them owned slaves. Slavery was not the issue here; Santa Ana abrogated the Mexican constitution and saw himself as a Napoleon of the west. BTW, I am a historian by training and trade.

  • @tikijane Incorrect. Stop putting words in my mouth. I never said all of the Alamo defenders were slave owners--What I said was that they were pro-slavery men--there is no question about that and I read that in English and Spanish. Part of the reason he got rid of the constitution was to prevent the importation of slaves. Bowie was one of the biggest slave smugglers. People like you immediately jump to condemn Santa Anna. I have no argument there but nice try to change the subject.

  • @tikijane Don't argue with idiots like him. He's just an ignorant troll and will ignore anything you say. Let the little asstard live in his fantasy world.

  • wow the alamo they killed ten for every one of them shows you davy crockett and jim boey kicked there asses.

  • hehe nice last line "secure our borders" so USA got borders in asia and middeleast, was new to me:)!

Good luck with the budget problems that need solving by friday, no point holding the ground there better be move able in that issue.

  • nice montage bud, thumbs up for me

  • I can't believe anyone would dislike this. If you like country, you'll love MR

  • @Lumotaku The Santa Anna of 2000's is not chavez but Calderon from Mexico and Uribe from Colombia, who surrender their people to USA imperialistic whims, and same thing could be said about the US president, who serves the financial elite and not its people

  • The final attack upon the fortress occurred at night, contrary to the Hollywood versions that shows a day light last stand. Santana, against all military tactics of his age, ordered a nocturnal attack in which the mexican artillery could not cover the waves of infantery and it could no be formed and directed without confusion, so the first waves were stupidly sacrificed by the stupidity of Santana, but the mexicans

  • @powerdriller10 By my research the Alamo was bombarded every night to prevent the defenders from sleeping, while during the day time the defenders faced probing assaults from varying directions to physically harass them and keep them from resting. On the last night there was no bombardment so fatigue overtook them. The Mexican forces got into position around 4:30 and the final assualt began at 5:30 and lasted 90 minutes. By 7 am it was over. 180 to 200 Texans to approx 1500 Mexican died.

  • @Bear

Your number of Mexican casualties is wrong. The total mex attacking force was 1500. Of course, the 187 texans were all killed. The Mex Army in Texas was about 5000 soldiers, but only 1500 were at the Alamo. Fatigue was not a factor against Texans once adrenaline got high by seeing the first waves of attackers. Santa Anna night attack gave advantage to Texans who could fire artillery at near range, while mex artillery could not aim to protect its infantery.

  • @powerdriller10 From all reports Santa Ana attacked all four walls on March 6th which spread out the defenders. Each wall was attacked by 800 man column, plus a 400 man force that assualted the log palisade between the church and main gate alone. Adrenaline alone cant undo close to two weeks without proper sleep. Adrenaline doesnt last 90 minutes. Not all attacks are done with artillery, as the first wave was a sneak attack, to get as close as they could without alerting the Texans.

  • @powerdriller10 No arguement on it being dark at 6 am. Santa Ana's battleplan was brillant, he mentally & physically wore down the defenders and executed an all-out assault on the Texans. The cannons was silent until discovery this was done to maintian noise disciple, to surprise the wore out Texans. If a person is denied sleep for a period of time, then allowed to sleep they will sleep-- DEEPLY. The fact that attack was in the early hours supports this.

  • @Bear

Santa Anna brilliance was never in the military domain. Just see how he failed miserably to set up the camp in San Jacinto. In one side the camp had a river , which was a good idea except that in the opposite side was a forest of tall trees, ideal for attackers hidden behind the trees and with no chance to retreat and organize for the defenders. In the Alamo Mexes lost 33% of soldiers, it shew great bravery and resilience for the privates while despicable stupidity for the commanders.

  • @powerdriller10 We do have to take in to consideration that the bridge crossing the river was burned down just prior to the battle at San Jacinto. I agree that Santa Ana failed to provide a proper defense of his position. Possible his arrogance of beating the Texans at Goliad and the Alamo led to his error. As most of the Mexicans was resting with rifles stacked was just plain STUPID. Both sides was pretty much equal in numbers, the Mexicans only having 400 man advantage. For sure failure.

  • @powerdriller10 The Mexican army was chasing the Texans since March 6 and San Jacinto was months later so Santa Ana fell to the folly of pursuit. The burning of bridge, terrain, need for revenge and near equal numbers was a perfect fit for the Texans. Sun Tzu states a general must fit on ground favorable to his forces to achieve victory. Gen Lee overlooked this at Gettysburg, giving the Union a victory. BTW: In the Revolution, Gen. Washington did a night attack on Dec 24th vs German Hessians.

  • Comment removed

  • @Bear44

Santa Anna knew that the "Campaña en Tejas" was doomed. I´m gonna tell you exactly what was his real plan: He was going to feint the chasing a few weeks more, then he´d declare victory and return to Mexico City. While the Mex Army could hold, he will say that it was his merit, when famine and lack of supplies made the Army collapse, Santa Anna will yell "Treason!! Incompetence!! ",and then he would collect more resources for another Campaign, nailing in the way a lot of money for himself.

  • @Bear44mc

In early March, it is still dark at 6:00 at the Alamo latitude. The first wave of attackers were the ones that must be protected against artillery, once there are Mex soldiers in mass close to the fortress, the mex artillery couldn´t keep firing. So it was an attack done at dark, and the first lines of mexes were stupidly sacrificed by Santan Anna incompetence.

  • @powerdriller10 Not every attack was made with artillery support.. when one uses cannon barrages one loses the element of surprise. This is military tactics. To be a good general, you must be willing to lose a few (thousand) soldiers. Its a cold truth, that most can't grasp. Its not incompetence or stupidity its the nature of the military machine. General Lee ordered the final attack at Gettysburg KNOWING he would lose thousands of men. Its just how it is when in the military.

  • @Bear44mc

Yes, you are right, an attack plan budgets casualties. But, Santa Anna plan of starting the attack at dark required exactly what you said: surprise. The surprise chance got lost due to noise and roaring done by some of the mex battalions which were not well instructed. Any way, in 1836 a night attack was considered too risky in all military textbooks. The problem was that confusion was unavoidable for the attacking soldiers used to pack together.

  • Yes, Alamo heroism was like Thermopoly, but heroism in both sides (Excepting Santana). The fact is that Travis thought that he and his men could stand until help arrived, because he despised the mexican soldier, for Travis a mexican was a coward incapable of thrusting himself unshielded amid the cannon and musket fire. But, the mexican army stood 33% casualties and still went forward, fatally proving wrong Travis miscalculation, and proving right Santana stupid military misdirection.

  • Feet wet 1639-Its not the movie/song but what it tries to convey. This was our Thermopoly. The Greeks had a lot more people and except for the Spartans and Thespians and a few others, many lived to tell the tale. History has many stories of great sacrifice. Those men did not need Travis to tell them their days were numbered. They could have left............... But that they didn't.

  • @anthony8151 Spanish mercs (pardon) Glorious Explorers claimed the lands in dispute, centuries before the "Mexican Government" existed. Spain went broke and the so called "Common People of Mexico" evicted them. Followed by Dictator after Dictator. Protection and trade came from the people, whom in 1836, were predominantly American. Hollerin "That's mine" doesn't make it so. If this offends you, and your feet are on U.S. soil, you are either here illegally or, you are a traitor. Feet wet, 1639.

  • @gdawsey wrong the first here was whites just like the first on the moon whites ,white came thirty thousand years ago in the east the ice age moved or wiped out most there are white indians dumb ass now take your head out of your shit talking hole

  • @tomanyasses My comments weren't racist. My beliefs are based on Nationalism. Some small groups of Mexicans believe we stole Texas. The majority of Texans were European with a large number of Mexicans, They declared and won Independence from Mexico. We would not be a great Nation without Texas. I judge a man by his behavior, not his color. If I dislike a person, it's because he's an ASSHOLE. I will point out 2 facts for you: 1 Anonimity makes a coward brave. 2. Jesus loves you. I don't.

  • @gdawsey and so do space aliens love you, i dont

  • cool

  • speaking as a Canadian...who has seen the Alamo...and knows the history...LOVE THIS SONG FOREVER... My Dad played this version for me a decade ago...saw the Alamo since... love this.

plus... have listened to elder Texans talk about it.

  • speaking as a Canadian...who has seen the Alamo...and knows the history...LOVE THIS SONG FOREVER... My Dad played this version for me a decade ago...saw the Alamo since... love this.

  • @anthony8151 a bunch of the defenders of the Alamo were Tejanos, which were MEXICANS fighting alongside the American Settlers. Mexican Natives AND american settlers fought for Texas's freedom, and just because the settlers were from america dosen't mean that they were fighting to steal mexico's land for America. Texas didn't actually even become a state until several years after San Jacinto.

  • @anthony8151 I'm retarded, but you seem to think that California/New Mexico belong to Mexico, but like i said; I'm the retarded one. Why do mexicans even come to America if we're just land stealing assholes? By the way, do some research, Mexico surrendered the land.

  • @TumisHumis There were many more Indians in Texas than their were Mexicans and the Indians never singed aay their rights to the land in Texas. This stuff about Mexicans owning Texas is just a big lie.

  • @progressiverebel The Indians are the Mexicans back then, and today the Indians are still the Mexicans, that's never going to change. Mexica is a tribe name.

  • @X9Intelectual bull shit ,you speak spanish, not indians language, dumb ass stop lieing turd

  • @anthony8151 It ain't stealin' if u kill the person you stole it from.

  • Santa anna was the hugo chavez of the 1800s or is hugo chavez the santa anna of the 2000s

  • We will never know the total of defenders at the Alamo, it was over the 185 number, and closer to 232. The names on the monument at the Alamo are wrong at times and it is missing a number of names.

The defenders of the Alamo were form all of the then United States, with Louisiana having one volunteer company and it's flag there. The flag is in Mexico today and is one of the limited items we know was at the fight.

They all rest with God now.

  • i dont understand why he says that none crossed the line first of all he said that the men that wanted to stay cross the line those who dont dont cross the line and one guy didnt cross the line and left

  • Galba Fuqua was teen of Minorcan descent who died defending the Alamo- he was wounded and bayoneted to death by Santa Anas men. Gringo invader?

  • This Alamo battle was nothing but heroic...so many lies and urban legends about this small fight. The story of the heroic last stand , men who refused to run and decided to stay and die to buy time is a complete lie...all made up by the Women who run the Alamo today..all lies to get tourists to come to San Antonio to spend money...disgusting

The memory of the dead at the Alamo are all tarnished by greed and stupid Texan pride

  • @MatrixFactoryGuy you are retarded.

  • The Nazi es were National Socialist, "Socialist". Get it? Socialist and Capitalist regard what should be fellow citizens, as Human Resource, a Resource To Be Used and not be bonded with.. Now Patriots defend U.S. Sovereignty and always fight the on going battle against ever-present evil until the Day Of the Lord. That is Courage.

  • Don't you just love the compassion of the Human spirit.(Sarcasm for those who share a brain cell with their sister/wife.)

  • nice

  • what would history and life of been like if they hada won, if those soliders beat Santa Ana i guess they would of had to be "space aliens" or something of supernatural ability

  • Remember the Alamo

  • Really good quality video. I'm a proud 6th generation Texan of Native American and white descent. Ancestors at Alamo and San Jacinto. Have any of y'all visited the Alamo and paid your respects before popping off about what's right or wrong. Remember, before anything, it was a mission church. A house of God, that sheltered men until their death. Rebellion here was as inevitable as it had been in Lexington & Concord. Study your history.

  • I didn’t finish reading all of your posts but I will tell you that Texas was looking to be granted statehood in the USA and these 185 brave and wonderful soldiers from the US went to fight on their behalf.

Having said this, I want to thank the author of this video for the video it self, the song and the comment at the end telling us to protect our boarder…

    H U A !!!

  • Freedom. is The Best of words. Them Heros will live for ever. When I think of them. I will not forget.

  • REMEMBER THE ALAMO & The Thirteen Days Of Glory! Remember Freedom Isn't Free It's Bought & Paid For In Blood.

  • Still enjoy the original black and white version of The Alamo with Fess Parker.

  • fignew1 doesn't matter who did what, there was a lot heroes who fought for what they believed was right. The music is great, the men fought for us, had they not, we here in Tx. wouldn't be where we are today. Yes, lots of history is there. RIP men.

  • USA invaders :(

  • WHAT ABOUT MEXICAN INVADERS? PLEASE LEARN YOUTR HISTORY DUDE

  • simply amazing

  • Arizona should use this for their new official state song. Remember the Alamo and Arizona

  • @sugnhb you do know a large portion of the men who fought for Texas were tejanos (Hispanic Texans). Who more than likely would hate Arizona. Please do not link a TEXAS achievement with Arizona. Texas has a much different relationship with our Mexican community then Arizona has.

  • @toryh07

Arizona was bought after the Mexican American War.

True though, many tejanos did fight for freedom!

  • @Ewolf98 Less you want a bunch'a "illiterate rednecks" to beat the shit outa you, just to tell ya that we dont care bout no damn indians, hell, the Blacks are free, and the indians dont even ask for land?

  • God bless those brave men who fought and died for freedom at the Alamo! We will NEVER forget you! REMEMBER THE ALAMO!

  • Yes, that's right, to all you fucktards, I'm posting this to educate your lame dumbed down sorry asses.

Fact: Americans who relocated to what would become Texas did so to set up their own republic.

Fact: They regularly disobeyed Mexican laws, including one forbidding the ownership of slaves.

This goes out to : F14Ace, Chazz0861 & all the other fucktard IDs he may possess, along with any other moron who wants to rewrite documented history.

  • Remember the Alamo!!!!!!!

    Yea for Marty Robbins.

  • Comment removed

  • @Dogmeat1950: Bull shit. At both occations it was nothing but white imperialist slave owners taking avantage of Mexico. But that's ok. You whities developed this land, 170 yrs. later.. here we(MEXICANS) are; enjoying the fruits of YOUr hard work. Thanks!!

  • um....no. there were Mexicans,Natives,White men, list goes on, Fighting the Mexicans. what do you think Mexicans are Native to the land? rofl?Spanish=from SPAIN.

just keep in mind the USA had no problem putting japs into Camps during ww2.

  • Wow, would love to see what fictional books you get your history from, lol

I guess from what you are saying that none of the people of Mexico was indigenous to the land, & that every single one of them came from Spain, lol

  • @CuachicquehRex You are a fucking idiot. Im not going to bother educating you, because you are a fucking idiot.

  • @expostfactum . Well, start educating me then; let's see what kind of BS comes out of butt hole.

  • After 13 days all the defenders of the Alamo were dead. Over 2000 of Santa Anna's 5000 troops were dead. When asked about the victory, one of Santa Anna's own generals said "One more victory like this and we will lose the war". Santa Anna also butchered the defenders at Goliad.

  • @terlingua213 You are very much correct...At San Jacinto they chanted Remember the Alamo and Remember Goliad. At both places no prisoners where taken. Goliad just doesnt get the same press as San Antonio, but both were terrible.

  • @Deguello321 You get to join the fucking idiot club....

  • @expostfactum there is a lot of them in that club !!!

  • Roll call John Goodrich my kin

  • i dunno the sound turns crappy when i turn the vid to hq.... anyone else got that prob?

  • ok im canadien i think the us were the best fighters there no ofence to the mexicans they wone cuz there were a lot off them

  • what do you think isnt true about it?

are you gonna tell me the mexicans were heros?

    bull shit

  • wtf is what?

    the battle of the Alamo?

youre a mexican how the hell do you not know what the Alamo is?

  • lol i think you answered youre own queston

    its a song...

    lol

  • cause after Mexico was free of Spain they thought they wouldgo and take some land well the Texas said kiss my ass and kicked there ass. then the USA came 20 years late and did the same.

  • Better go back and take some more history lessons, as the land the Alamo sat upon beloned to Mexico.

What caused Mexico to attack was the fact that the people of the Alamo settled there & decided they did not have to go by Mexican rule, including keeping slaves, which Mexico was against, hence, war.

    Consider yourself schooled.

  • um....you do know that 2/3 of the Texans that fought where Mexicans right?

also how are you going to say it be is part of Mexico when through it';s history the area of Texas was under 6 Different flags?

Mexico also didn't have freedom of religion,Mexico did not protect Freedom of Religion, instead requiring colonists to pledge their acceptance of Roman Catholicism; Mexican Law required a tithe paid to the Catholic Church

    Consider yourself schooled. lol.

  • The facts of history prove the area we know as Texas now was legally part of Mexico back then, so your 6 flags claim mean nothing.

What the Texans sought to do was set up a Republic independent of either Mexico or the USA, & did briefly for a time before Texas was annexed by the USA.

    Schooled again, lol

  • Read your history before you talk out of your ass next time

  • @Dogmeat1950 Some of your facts are correct...only some. Actually everyone who died at the Alamo were Mexicans (since coming to Texas made you a citizen which is what mexico was advertising before to get Texas populated and therefore taxed) since Texas was part of Mexico at the time. The "Texicans" were rebeling against Santa Anna and Mexico just like the US did to England.

  • Santa Anna went through a process of dissolving state legislatures, disarming state militias, and abolishing the Constitution of 1824. the war had nothing to do with slavery lol. as I said READ A BOOK.

  • I doubt this would go over well with you, & it did not go over well with the Mexican government either.

  • Better go back and read some more books, as it is quite clear through history that the people in the Alamo believed in slavery while the Mexican government did not, but I will conceed this issue was only a small part of the friction between the two parties.

The main issue lay in the new Texans refusing to adhire to Mexican law & rule, which would be kind of like me moving in with you & trying to tell you how to run your home by rules I decided appropiate for me to go by.

  • @sphinxrising58

Perhaps YOU should go back and take history lessons. The Mexican government invited those people to move there and when Santan Anna was elected, he suspended Mexico's constitution and began treating the foreigners like crap. Oh yeah, many of the Alamo's defenders were natural born Mexican citizens. Funny how nobody ever mentions that. You "conveniently" left that fact out.

So go ahead and tell the people in Texas they need to vacate. Tell me how well it works out.

  • Fuck Texas & the people who live in it, as last I heard, nothing but steers & queers come from Texas, & I do not see any horns on them Texans, lol

Regardless of the racial mix, fact remains the people at the Alama thought they was the shit, so did not have to listen to the law of the land, but guess we all know how that turned out, huh?

You cannot rewrite history according to your beliefs so this discussion is over girlyboy.

  • But you can turn the Alamo into a restaurant. ^-^!! Forget about beliefs.

  • y would they do that bitch

  • For the same reason why a few would hit your face. The song from this video sounds bad.

  • @sphinxrising58 you are either a troll or a complete retard. mexico treated texas like shit. they hardly gave them any freedom. slavery had absolute NOTHING to do with it. santa anna and his dictator-like ass attacked the alamo because 1.the people of texas wanted to leave mexico and mexico of course didnt want that and 2.the alamo was at like the best spot to own. you make it sound like we completely lost. we may have lost the battle, but won the war at san jacinto. go back to 4th grade dumbass

  • @TheRoyBoy734 You must be a Texan, as we all know they are trying to rewrite American history, laughs.

Fact was people in the Alamo did possess slaves, & fact was Mexico was against slavery, not to mention being against upstarts telling them how they would live in spite of Mexican laws, so freedom had very little if anything to do with the real story of the Alamo, as technically, they was a bunch of backasswards racist criminals, laughs.

Better go back and learn your history, lol

  • @TheRoyBoy734 As far as going back to 4th grade, perhaps you should go back, as at least, I know my American history, which is more than you can claim, obviously, snickers.

  • @F14ace You are correct.....Period....end of discussion.

  • @F14ace , so what you are saying is that IF a government invites a group of people, and that same government starts to treat those people like crap, THOSE people have the right to fight for independance and freedom???Well, the U.S.A. has treated many if not all NoneWhites like crap; maybe there should be more Alamos.

  • @CuachicquehRex u dont know history!! mexico overthrew spain for texas, then the texans took it from mexico!! quit crying its how the world works and you probably snuck into the u.s from mexico so go back if you dont like our ideas of freedom and if your still in mexico you guys need to overthrow your crappy ass goverment and that way you dont have to come over here anymore!!!

  • Actually, after reading further comments, I've come to the conclusion that sphinxrising58 is one of those self-hating bleeding heart liberals who hates their country and has their head perpetually lodged up their ass. They couldn't see another point of view if it came up and kicked them in the ass.

  • you think the ballad of the alamo sucks?

how do you hate a song that tells the history of the alamo?

of course its not fucking rap or pop

    deal with it

  • @edgehead31593

and rock dont forget it's also no rock for that matter.

  • @edgehead31593 it talks like the white man is fighting evil

  • God bless Texas

  • North America strongest army's are USA 1# Mexico 2# Canada 3#.

  • subscooby agree but i think its natural..we all have our perceptions and what we have read about the topic over the years..i just dont like it when people start name calling etc..think ill have to stop on most of the videos i have been commenting on as people are getting rude and offensive no fun in that..people prefer the myth and legend to what is factual.. its like the jfk assassanation..and oh yea the custerfphiles are very touchy..so i dont go there anymore..

  • mexico did not take over the alamo it was mexican territorry...1000 under general cos were trapped inside by the war dogs...and surrendered and were given safe passage...bowie was supposed to blow up the alamo and haul the cannons away...

  • pdogone1,

burnett, the first president of the republic.was not the 1st prez. see:

    Government Republic

    President1 18361838 Sam Houston

    Vice President1 18361838 Mirabeau B. Lamar

    Ben Weihrich

    TEXICAN by Birth

    MARINE BY CHOICE

  • most of the men who fought at the alamo were not texans..most were mercenaries and those who came to get some land for three month enlistments..after the revolution burnett, the first president of the republic. decried all those who kept coming as leeches. even houston called the volunteers pirates....those who did come from the states were in violation of the neutrality act of 1817..but that was ignored..santa anna was doing what all countries do when a rebellion breaks out..suppress it

all it was their country and to my mind

    they fought and died hero's

  • Absolutely, they were fighting for their liberation from Santa Anna's military dictatorship. Mexicans (who called the area Tejas for centuries already) that lived there made up at least half of the revolt. The idea of independence came later. After independence, we based our flag off of NC's.

We are annexed by a treaty. We still have the right for revocation of this treaty. The US is the one who used our situation to make land grabs from Mexico.
