  • Mikael Persbrandt is an very cool and hard guy, if someone could kill someone else with a single blink, it would be he.

  • Hahaha Go Gunvald!

  • damn, is she cute!

  • does any1 else get kinda annoyed annoyed the way she pronounces dwalin and balin?

  • The name Beorn is pronounced the same way as the swedish word Björn.

A common mansname and allsow the name for bear! :)

  • @Vichylove I was about to say the same thing! I think it is the same for Norwegian and Dannish 'Bjørn' and knowing that Tolkien took his histories from the old norse mythology also it is not strange that the name has a conotation with the animal here indeed^^

  • A little bit of me died when i saw Mikeal Persbrandt being in this movie..I cant stand him. I will cry for real if he fails with his English. </3

    And yes im swedish/svensk..

  • @AdmSwe vi får hoppas på det bästa... Förhoppningsvis tolerarear Jackson inte svenskaccent.. :P

  • My biggest issue with these so far is the mispronunciations of character names. We get that you're from South Carolina, Rebekah, but please show a little respect for Tolkien's characters if you purport yourself to be a fan of his work. There are more than adequate pronunciation guides in the Appendices, and failing that, listen to John Rhys Davies' pronunciation of "Balin" in the Lord of the Rings films.

  • That guy as Beorn?!?! This is horrible! I expected Beorn to be a huge hairy bearded guy like Hagrid from Harry Potter.

  • @StatuesBleedingGreen The man who plays Hagrid is big fat guy that looks friendly. Tolkien describes Beorn as muscular and fierce. Persbrandt is two inches taller than the actor playing Hagrid and he can turn very very dark. He was a boxer a while ago (getting back into shape right now) and he's one of the best, if not the best, "underground" actors out there.

  • @RealityChickRCRU Ok, so if that's how the book described him then I guess it's fine. I just don't want the guy to look like a bare-chested Sparten type model character.

  • @StatuesBleedingGreen It's hard for a norse man to be a little spartan. He has no shirt on that picture, bad choice of a picture.

  • @StatuesBleedingGreen He will probably have a huge beard in the film and they probably gonna change is size digitally or something to make him look huge.

  • @lfgubrs ... Fat suit.

  • i hope they show the transformation

  • Peter Jacksson is so good at chosing characters! Mikael Persbrandt will make a better Beorn than the Beorn in my fantasy. I hope that they will use Beorn alot because 1. what a cool character and 2. Persbrandt will after that movie BE Beorn!

  • wow Lotro is getting good money

  • Mikael Persbrandt the baddest of bad asses!

  • Cool....I like this series.....and the host makes it easy to watch...

  • Rebekah platt rocks!!!!!!!!!!

  • Play video, hold in number "1"

  • i hope you good folks at TORN can give me (and others) some solid info in Sir Christopher Lee and Saruman please. thanks.

  • Enjoying these updates, and the comments section as well -- parts of it anyway. :D @Rebekah, you're a brave soul to put up with these geeks alternately drooling over you and bringing you up to speed on their geekdom . Hang in there. LOL!

  • The number of nerds that spilled their seed over this video must be mind-boggling.

  • I'm not sure about the pronunciation of Balin and Dwalin, but Smaug should definitely be pronounced Smowg, not Smawg.

  • @AlatarVinyamar I have often seen the english speakers slipping in their accent in the name pronunciation... not a great sin though, it's forgivable. :P

  • @AlatarVinyamar Everybody pronounces it differently i think, personally i pronounce it as its spelled. Smaug. Well see how it will be in the movie :)

  • im glad this channel is up, keeps me up to date with the latest hobbit info! im actually jizzing in anticipation of this film :)

  • This is more like Hobbit in 6. But anyways, cool. I always wanted Paul McGann in The Hobbit. He would be a great Bard. I always picture him as Radaghast the Brown, sort of a coincidence that Sylvester McCoy got the part. McCoy really isn't how I imagined that character, but I'm sure Sir PJ has got some great stuff in mind. I'll probably never image Radagast the same way after the movie. :)

  • It should be Hobbit in 4,20 as it takes it takes 40 seconds before it starts.

  • Man, it's a good year for Captain America!! You lucky S.O.B you!!!!

  • Have you actually read The Hobbit or are you just reading all this from a teleprompter?

  • @thirsokewl - Bahahaha!

That reminds me, this girl may be cute but she needs to learn how to properly pronounce the characters names if she is going to be the "official" Hobbit in 5 spokesperson. I mean, for f*ck's sake, how hard is it to pronounce Balin or Dwalin right? It's pronounced BALL-IN.

How did nobody from the making of this video catch that? Simply stunning

  • @kmccarney88 She got it right. In the original animated film, they call him BAH-lin, not BALL-in. I've always heard it pronounced this way.

  • Comment removed

  • @kmccarney88 I think she followed that rule. Tolkien always had a professorial British accent (and "A" sounds) in mind when explaining those. I can see where her A sounds a little like "pal," but at least she didn't say BAIL-in..

  • @thirsokewl Actually Rebekah is a massive LOTR fan who visited New Zealand, took the LOTR movie tour and even played her flute in Hobbiton. Being a fan was one of the qualifications of getting the job.

And remember, she is from SC, she has a slight twang in her accent.

  • @The1neRing Thanks for the reply I was just wondering and did not mean to sound condescending if it came across that way

  • Hobbit in 5, you guys should take it upon yourselves to get the low down on Brian Blessed! Whether or not he has a role in the film is, by far, the thing I am anticipating the most! The guy is a genius and was born to play a dwarf! Lets hope he gets the role of King Dain considering all the other dwarf roles have been taken.

He has been rumored to have a role in this film for years and on imdb.com as "rumored" for months. Please give us the low down on who he is actually rumored to play!

  • I'm looking forward to the writing contest.

  • Thanks for all the great info!

  • Isn't the Dragon's name pronounced Smowg and not Smawg?

  • @ljotulf You are correct.

  • hey rebekah its your brother here...bob...wats up

  • Awesome post, Rebekah. Thanks for keeping us all up to date!

I'm curious though - I'm from NZ so maybe it's just my funny accent, but did you really say "[Mikael Persbrandt] is BEARY excited about getting the part [of Beorn]"?

    If so, nicely played! :)

  • You certainly hear this very often but you've indeed beautiful eyes and a very infectious smile =)

    Nice news =)

  • Geeks are getting more and more beautiful these days. I cant beleive how awesome your eyes are.wow:)

  • Thank you for updating us!

    Keep up the enthusiasm!

    ^_^

  • i like you =)

  • SOOOOO HOTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love how enthusiastic you are! It's fantastic. :D

  • Can you tell us about the Hobbit script?

Sorry I can't do that, Peter Jackson told me to "keep it secret, keep it safe"

  • I want to marry you Queen of Geeks...drool

  • Love it! You're gonna be famous, Rebekah!

  • Much improved. And, uh, no need for a "signature pose," this is about Hobbit news, right :D

  • Tell us more about the "regular bears' meeting'... you seem to have enjoyed that part ;)

How about giving us a High Five as a "signature pose"?

  • Wow, this is geeky.

  • @Einmaliger Just the way I like it :)

  • Thanks for keeping us updated!

  • Rebekah, You will make me very happy if you write me a PM :)

  • Rebekah, I love you!
