i finally figured out what it is that makes the darkness THE DARKNESS...Frankie + Justin + Ed + Dan...Mostly I can see, not only here...Justin isn't his best without Frankie...They fed off each other. Frankie is a bass player...He does all the feeling to make it easy on his guitar player. This guy doesn't have it....doesn't have the feeling..i don't care if you can play 100 mph. If you don't feel it, put it down.

The Darkness sound has followed Justin to British Whale and Hot Leg. Def no coincidence. Stone Gods sound way diff.

As for Frankie, I'm on the fence. I'm not sure if Justin was feeding off him or not. I think Justin was better in the Frankie era kuz he wasn't coked out of his gourd all the time like he was after Frank "left". I never really liked Frankie skill-wise...tho his look was pretty effing legendary.

@DJFLDJFL Justin Hawkins will always sound like JH and hot leg does not sound like the darkness. Hot leg has to much distortion in their guitars, the bass is too busy..idk..all i know is if JH would get back to leading a band, doing it his way or the highway, and stay away from trying to share the spotlight, then there might be a band comparable to the darkness. When people went to see TD they went to see JH perform, and hear a great rock band.

I agree with DUDEplayer69, Pete's solos are really not good, all that shredding gets really annoying, and he is also right Pete doesn't show any sense of melody in his solos he just attacks his guitar with no clear direction its just all over. He is a good guitarist but he needs to find the music and make his solos work with the music.

Pete's solo's aren't necessarily meant to fit. Justin's quoted saying 'if somethings worth doing, it's worth overdoing.' lets face it, Petes solos can't be the most outrageous thing on stage compared to Justin and the music he's written. it all fits, Justin would not have hired him if he didn't think for a minute that he wasn't right for the band.

I think his solos are awesome and he is very experimental when doing them. He does my favorite sliding technique too. He also does very crazy sweep picking which actually works for this song.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree, Pete is ruining the solos by playing like that in EVERY single song. Solos are a distinct and unique part of a song (usually), so if they all sound the same, how boring is that? The answer is very. But I love Man Rock and they are extremely entertaining, just please let Justin play the solos from now on. Have fun on Monday.
