there is an easier way to get in that doesn't involve having lockpick ability. if you round the other side of the memorial and go into the river and swim down you will find a pipe leading straight to a clutch of eggs but if you travel to far you will fingd a king and some mirelurks

There are other entrances. However, all of them are harder to get in and out. I recomemnd fighnting mirelurks outisde near the entrance. You can kill them whitout messing up the bonus.

Thanks for posting this. Always forget where that exit/entrance is when I do this quest. You can save alot of time by just jumping down to the eggs but doing it that way has a risk of dieing. But it should autosave when you walk in so you can load it from there.

@sparkey449 Every lock needs a key when you break it, but hardly all of them actually have a key in the game. So you can never open that door anymore, unless you reload to a previous save.

i only got lincoln's repeater the first time i played the game, because my cuzzin got it and i asked him bout it, and he told me where to find it, but i had the worst radiation u could have and couldnt even be in water for a minute, and i kept losing caps...

i think i have some comentary to improve the quest...

1- Dont run with the gun out, you lose speed, also unequip it

2- just jump down, the water softs the fall damage (at least for me) and gtfo by the back door

If you complete EVERY optional objective in the Survival Guide quest you are rewarded with the Guru perk, which is better than the ones you get if you don't complete them all.

It's quite simple. The Wasteland Survival Guide has as reward a perk, as I'm sure you know. The quality of this perk, however, is determined by how many optional objectives you completed. Comeplete them all and you get Guru.

Just go into the memorial before the quest and kill all of the mirelurks, then accept the quest, and you will get the optional achievement.
