  • best drummer on the face of the earth mastered every style by the age of 17

  • Pretty sure he opens doing his variation on Garibaldi's Oakland Stroke, no?

  • I wish my uncle Tony was my brother

  • That's my uncle Tony on drums.

  • doesent look like the kit of an hip hop, r&b drummer, if i didnt know who he was i would probably think he would burn down the place with crazy ass blast beats and double bass :P

  • Tony rips so hard. That groove is just maddening.

  • charlie watts would put him to shame! ;-)

  • Chuck Norris joined dislikers.

  • I agree with godson

  • @Xxstrongdrums1996xX wtf are u talkin bout?!!!? u either def or dumb dude is cold!!!!! check out some other videos from this cat cuz obviously u dont know wtf u'r talkin bout!

  • Is there ever gonna be a video where some d-bag pole-smoke isn't talking about Travis Barfer? And yeah I said barfer...........ever time i look at that clown I wanna puke.

  • ALL YA'LL BITCHES DO IS TALK ABOUT HOW BAD OTHER DRUMMERS ARE. BUT I DON'T SEE NO VIDEOS OF YOU CUNTS PLAYING

  • what band is he in? Thought so...

  • Lars Ulrich sucks. I'm better than he is.

  • @MrJunderwood12

But you are watching youtube naked except for pink tube socks while Lars is touring the world and getting laid. Oh yeah and he is playing drums w/the band he created. Listen to Tony tear it up and STFU.

  • actually green tube socks

  • @MrJunderwood12 Fluorescent, Lime green.

I'm not a fan of Lars either. He's perfect for Metallica but I can't hear/see him play jazz, funk or do anything like Simon Phillips, Dennis Chambers, Coleman. Blackwell, Cobham, Weckl, Colaiuta, Hakim, Royster, Blackman. even Sheila E.

  • @MrJunderwood12 Yeah, me too...

  • wtf does Lars Ulrich and Joey Jordison have to do with this..?

  • What Snare is that ??

  • travis barker, lars ulrich and joey jordison disliked this.

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY

are you sick? t.barker is fantastic drummer who have own style, j.jordison is a one of the best metal drummer in history.Lars Ulrich begun drumming when tony was a child and dont have teacher like denis chambers! everybody is critick but propably havent any sukces

  • @truposzek tony was drumming as a child so i don't see how ulrich being older makes him any better. at 12 tony was already better than ulrich has ever been. don't believe me, look up some tony royster jr. videos, theres tons of them on youtube.

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY justin beiber just disliked this

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY And now Justin Bieber too.

  • @gwilym94

    Justin Bieber doesn't play drums

  • @KaersonTV No, you're right. He just hits them.

  • Comment removed

  • @gwilym94

I mean it's not his MAIN avtivity in music.

  • @KaersonTV I know. But he's still shit.

  • @gwilym94

Oh I wasn't contradicting that lol, yes he is

  • @gwilym94 Eh, I don't know if I'd exactly call him shit. He's got a few basic fills down. Only one groove, but he still has SOMETHING to offer. He's by no means a great drummer though. Especially considering the fact that he's been playing for 15 years.

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY ROFL

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY And they do have reasons for that..

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY and portnoy LOL

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY and neil peart lol

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY Lars didn't even understand it and was probably very confused.

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY ha ha i like the humor

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY

    who the fuck is lars?

  • Wish people would shut the fuck up about lars ulrich and joey jordison. They dont have nothing on this guy. probably the bottom of my list of "good" drummers

  • tony royster jr FTW...!!!

  • The onlee thing about it all: Everyone is out to out"solo" each other and less about making great art. Right? That is the goal, instead of stepping on the other musicians' toes and making them our footstool. I mean, it's become all and all out war out hear. ha. I guess we will get back to the "real relation, the underlying theme" one century....man. Too much funk in hear. Great playing though TR. Keep the flame lit. dk

  • IF IT WAS NOT FOR GOD WE WOULD NOT HAVE PEOPLE THAT CAN PLAY AS THIS AMEN

  • @DRUMMERAL100 ...? Physics and mathematics, goodmorning.

  • Comment removed

  • come on man.... the only... THE ONLY word that describes Tony is: ANIMAL.

  • Hmm i still cant figure out what those faces mean when hit playing

  • I love Tony playin but he fucked up this song really badly!!!! Leave it to David, tony... you got ur style but not like david....

  • he's whooping that poor sets ass ;(

  • BUDDY RICH WOULD HAVE POOPED HIS PANTS IF HE EVER GOT TO SEE WHAT TONY CAN PLAY ON THE DRUMS... TALENT,SPEED AND COOL ALL IN ONE

  • @lgttb1 If it wasn't for buddy rich, we wouldn't have beasts like tony today. Think about that.

  • @livingmusic37 No, we still would.... We wouldn't have Dennis Chambers though.

  • don't cry for him, just look at that beautiful drumkit he has the privilege to play on, maybe even owns it. look at the fact that he's got his own sticks and plays at these events. his day job is to play easy ass jay-z music, so don't feel bad for him if he's not quite as rich as some other drummers. it's in your ability to negotiate...

  • /watch?v=JQ4VjgMRVbQ

  • best drummer I ever see

  • mann your lik an expert you expires me too become a betterr drummer..

  • mann your lik an expert you expires me too become a betterr drummer lolz

  • great drummer, but his music is so fucking boring

  • this is sick yo

  • That left hand is twirling around in the air during those ghost notes - i donno why but it makes me mad. partially cause i don't understand why

  • @LavAzza1982 at what part are you reffering to because when its twirling hes not playing ghosts on the snare, hes hitting the high hat. its easier to twil up like that and keep the left hand crossed under the right then to come to an uncrossed position

  • dw kiit with pdp stands..xD lol

  • con some one tell what those are and do front of the bass

  • @ConnorHoffman they add extra depth and bass.. i think

  • Actually in the " Technical Aspects" category, Tony uses one bass pedal where Bobby Jarmbozak uses two. Don't get near a drumset, please.

  • @Americant47 I keep thinking that Bobby is MUCH MORE technical than Dave or Tony, sorry :)

  • @Americant47 Bobby is better and that's my opinion. That's relative, and you should respect =] Don't be a kid, try to understand that I'm not like you, if you do that, I think you'll be a good musician, Hugs.

  • what DW series is that?

  • In the technical aspects, Bobby Jarzombek is better.

  • the best drummer in the world I love how that plays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • someone give him an ACDC song to learn...that should give him something to work on

  • @ben2nd if your def you shouldnt be making braindead comments on a tony royster video

  • @GreyStreet46 Not used to dry whit I see?? lrn2joke

  • @ronniephillips bwahaha its a durag..lol

  • why do people care what these pro drummers use? they use the brand cause they get the products free. they dont care what they use. sabian... zildjian.... does it matter if u get whatever u want from all of the products they got. and stupid people buying expensive stuff just because "mike portnoy and tony royster jr use sabian and say its great. well ofc they gotta say its great when they are sponsored by them.

  • garibaldi still owns this song

  • @ronniephillips It's a wave cape lol. It's for his hair.

  • he did not miss he is hitting a low tom

  • he missed the side hat twice at 00:57 in the video surprising

  • dammmmmmn!

  • Four Arms?

  • yes i love this song escape from oakland david garibaldi played this on drums

  • Is this song a David Garibaldi's song?

  • @DanBater4 yes escape from oakland

  • Wonderful poly groove at 3:40

  • WAT!!!! TOWER OF POWER!!! R U SERIOUS?!!!! EPICNESS!!!! BUT DAVID GARIBALDI OWNS ALL ANYWAY!!!

  • grift67 u right there millionaires but there r way better drummers like tony royster and dennis chambers seems like the best drummers singers dancers r what ever gets the sort end of the stick y the mainstream gets all the glory

  • tony is the best

  • name of the song pleaseeeee!!

  • @portnoy2045 its called "Back to Oakland" by Tower of Power but Royster souped up the track to fit how he was gonna perform it! But you need to hear David Garibaldi's version of it!!!!!!

  • @drummerboi2000 thanks dudeeee!!!!!!! =)

  • @portnoy2045 no problem man!!!!

  • hey thats king kong in his zoo????

  • Royster Jr. makes ulrich and jordison look like beginners!Even drummers like daniel adair from nickelback are better than them.and don't comment if you havn't heard what daniel's capeable of,coz you won't find it on a nickelback album,if you're a drummer you'll know this

  • THIS is a real drummer people- if i hear "joey jordison" in another REAL drummer video again im gonna fucking kill myself joey jordison is fuckin amateur in comparison to a drummer with REAL skill lol sorry kids but double bass alone and speed doesnt make you an AMAZING drummer lol Tony Royster Jr fucking LAYS SHIT DOWN!

  • @shadeofclear best comment ever

  • MONSTER RUMMER!!

  • awesome playing never thought id hear tony covering tower of power squib cakes

  • only a true drummer would actually know that a great drummer plays to improve the overall sound of the music, not how fast he is or how good his drum solos are

  • @will87045 bro shut the fuck up up hater dreamer bitch. and i take it you can show me better than him////////// Well shut the fuck up

  • @BadassDeeess don't be so defensive dude, I wasn't even refering to Tony- he has mad chops. I was just supporting the statement made by DiscoFunktikonikyte about drummers that don't necessarily play will speed and solos.

  • Lars Ulrich and Joey Jordison are multi-millionaires. sad.

  • @grift67 They both played well enough for people to like them.

  • @grift67 They both played well enough for who they play with, and I don't know how well Metallica and Slipknot might've done without them

  • @grift67 They both played well enough for who they play with, and I don't know how well Metallica and Slipknot might've done without them

  • @grift67 this is sad why?

  • @grift67 well so is tony royster jr haha but i agree with what ur saying

  • @grift67 so is he but i understadn you..........

  • @grift67 Looool! This guy is probably way richer than Joey :)

  • @TheatreOfAwesomness no chance, probably doesnt have a twentieth of what joey has

  • @grift67 ,

Well, it proves that even you are Multi-millionare doesn't say anything about talent. Lars Ulrich is the worst drummer I ever saw...

  • @Tonyr67 yup, love metallica, but i hate lars.

  • @grift67 This guy was filthy rich from day one..

  • @grift67 its not about money, its about playing drums and having fun :) this guy has fun, as you can see..

  • @grift67 Ulrich actually brought something to the genre back in the day. Then his potential shot itself and fell off a cliff.

  • @grift67 but still tony is blessed by a priceless talent! bad for lars and joey

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY agreed but tony could be with a bigtime band if he wanted too, he chooses to stay with jay-z. doubt hes a millionaire but he could be if he wanted too. hes the best currently in my opinion

  • @TheJayThomas I dunno dude - Jay-Z is pretty darn bigtime himself, I bet Tony's doing alright for himself in the financial department!

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY bet he not short of a penny lol

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY talent only takes you so far becoming a master requires thousands of hours of practice

  • Comment removed

  • @CHABIEPORTNOY yes tony has a lot of talent. and why is it bad for lars and joey, i don't get it!?! stop spamming and please close your account. thank you.

  • @grift67 music is not for money

  • @grift67 Yes, I don't understand that. Travis Barker deserves is a hundred times more!!

  • @grift67 if you're in it for the fame and recognition, you're playing the wrong instrument

  • @grift67 tony won't be broke either so don't worry :)

  • I love how he's playing "Back to Oakland"

He's doing his rendition on one of Dave Garibaldi's tunes. Thats really hard to do.

Tony Royster sounds stupendous on this track.

  • haha he did hit the floor tom. Genius

  • damn datz my cousin in real life

  • @KJC123ish I know him personaly too!

  • I Believe you To..Cause He Gotta HAve Cousins And Brothers And Stuff he Gotta Have Family He Didnt Just Appear...lol

  • he missed that cymbal at :57 lol...he's still a beast tho

  • lool I herd that aswell loool but styll he sthe greatest!!

  • he has a floor tom over there..............

  • o ok i see now thanks for clearing that up for me ;-)

  • @JT3AI

    hit his floor tom dick

  • @Riggor sorry everyone isnt up to ur drummer expertise, i neva dissed him idiot, i love his drumming, so u should really read someone's comment before posting....smh at how some people seem to get real "butt hurt" on these comments

  • Toughen up Soldier!! I just get pissed off at people that sit there looking for mistakes and pointing them out to everyone instead of appreciating whats there.

  • Victor thell check his drumsolo new drummer AWESOME!

  • dude he only recently went sabian.. he was with zildjan for an awefully long time.. so that wil be why:)

  • @lolconde1993 why will that be why? sounded great

  • why do his bass drums say Zildjian?!! hes a Sabian guy!

  • this was probably a drum head with all the sponsors on it

  • @DrummerBalfe On his first dvd Zildjian was endorsing him but since then he's been getting his cymbals from sabian

  • @DrummerBalfe he used to be a zildjian guy

  • Actually the bass drums are two diff sizes ones a 22inch and ones a 24 inch he used it on the last DVD he did had some very cool solos using diff combos with one bass drum sounding higher then the other very cool stuff

  • but can he play the paradiddle?

  • he can play a paradiddle like no one's business :P

  • of course!

  • ..type in "Tony Royster warming up" - the first video will be of him at Guitar Center speaking about warming up. Check him out playing paradiddles..

  • jesus h christ! isnt it obvious I was being ironic..

  • ironic?

  • does he really need a double kicker?

  • Yes. Some tracks he use lot of double bass and double bass fills.

  • LOL @ the work 'double kicker'

  • first of all who will if he wont ?

Than it gives a unique look to him

    and it looks great

    so why not ?

  • yeah, i don't see many hip-hop/R&B people using 2 bass drums, so I was wondering. It is awesome, I like the double-pedal myself

  • R&B or Hip Hop?

I think it's more progressive Fusion Jazz or Funk-Jazz ^^

  • @HourOfRevenge

I think this is actually tower of power(funk jazz), but i don't know, he's drumming

  • No this is a Weckl tune I'm pretty sure. Weckl does a much better job with it too, this song doesn't go with Tony's style at all.

  • yes that is a tower of power jam.

  • isnt this a tower of power jam? (Garibaldi)

  • He rhytmics with solo sax, it does not look like song, just the perfect knowing of this beautiful escape from oakland...

  • Por essa Garibaldi não esperava...

  • but, it is... for him!

  • makes it look so easy..
