I love FM 2008 because it's far more realistic that the player who is injured is playing badly (giving poor passes, shooting terribly etc.), while in FM 2005, for instance, I played vs Porto in Champions League and Derlei got injured in 5th minute. But that didn't stopped him to score 2 goddamn goals in 84th and 89th minute while I was leading the whole match 2-0!!!

hi. can you give any tips for formation etc? on tyhe old games i jsut used to do 4 4 2 with the wingers running right up. but now it doesnt work (but i am a small team in league 1) i loaned a 21yr old from watford and he scored 42 goals in like 44 games (top scorer in the league) and yet i still finished last lol. i wana do the challenge of building up but its very frustrating at times! use 4-4-2 formation, play slow tempo, and some mentality, and play mixed passing, narrow if the pitch is narrow, and defensive, it takes time to score a goal and it also means you get more possesion.

playing the lower leagues on FM2008 the key (IMO) is pacey defenders. I took Ebbsfleet Utd to 8th in the prem in 7 seasons and the basis of this was my back 4. my 2 main stays were James Smith (loan from L'pool) and Phil Starkey (already at the club). Both stupidly quick & both excellent as high as the Championship. I also signed 2 full backs on loan from Man U (Sean Evans and David Gray) while in the lower div's who were both really good at gettin forward.

Had a fairly good goal ratio aswell compared to his, i lost the next 3 games and my last game was versus man city, just needed a draw to win and i lost 6-0 and he won his game 8-0, he ended up winning the league by 1 goal. I then lost the FA cup final, then the Champions League final vs the same friend.
