Happy birthday mom! Today you are 91 years young. I just want you to know that I know you have been through alot in your life and we all love you. You are such an inspiration to us. May god bless you and keep you safe...I love you....Dennis.
This song always made me cry when I was little cos it reminded me of how I couldn't be with my mom. Luckily she's better now and we make up for lost time :) love u mommy -3
I dedicate this one to the late Theron Baker of Valdosta,Georgia. He had me find this on vinyl for him back in the 80's. He was a good guy and my former brother in law. God Bless.
Yo I didnt even realize this song was for a mother dying and leaving a child behind I just enjoyed the melody and words but never analysed them" WOW I feel dumb" this song always sounded sad (which is okay)now it just got sadder and takes on a new meaning.Great oldie lots of reminiscing when I hear this.
Happy thanksgiving mom!! I am happy and truely blessed 2 still have you here with me!! You are a blessing to your children!!!! We all love you tremendously!!!!
Frostrust and Gratzii; I wish I could take some of your pain. Our Mothers are the Essence of our lives, forever. Sometimes they leave us too soon. Always too soon. But they are within us, they are us. My mother rides in my truck with me every morning to my job. SuperMrDwayne--your Mother will be here for a long time...realize how important she is and maybe even let her know that...you radiate something good just by your comment...
I just have to let you know how much I love you mom. You mean the world to me!! I am so sorry that you have mild dementia now! Just know that I will do everything in my power to help you, I know its hard for you to go on everyday and that makes me cry for you because you are so innocent. God bless you for you are my heart!!!!!
Wow.. This Makes Me Cry.. I Haven't Lost My Mom But I Love Her So Much, And Cant Even Have The Thought Of How It Would Be W.out Her.. Every time I Listen To Oldies It Makes Me Think Of Her, She Just Says "Stay Happy, ill See You One Day In Heaven And She's Only Gonna Be Sleep For A While.. "
I lost both of my parents a week apart when I was just 111/2 yes it was the worst days of my life! and at 58 yrs of age I still hurt but this music is so soothing!!! thanks for sharing this!
Dkano9, Eddieeish, 1MalcolmR, everybody who has made comments here. What goodness you have given out...pbrzombie562..We don't really know each other but we all know that our Mothers are the most important. I am overwhelmed by the heart everybody here has exhibited. I can only grieve for those of you who have lost your Mothers...
i lost my mom when i was seventeen due to health problems i miss her more n more everyday the more time passes the harder it seems to get for me its been 14 yrs :(
GOD bless and keep all who have lost someone. DKano9 is right, time will heal the immediate pain but the wonderful memories will bring sunshine. GOD be with each and every one of you
This is one of the first records my mom gave me when I got my very first record player. She will be thrilled to hear this cut. I am sorry about the sad things you might be thinking about right now. It's going to be alright. God loves you and has a purpose for you, and will turn your sadness to joy. I know He will.
@2441883 She gave me this one; "Apple peaches pumpkin pie"; and "I'm your puppet". My dad gave me John Phillip Sousa records. I really liked those records. I wish I still had them. Youtube, I can find these things on youtube. Ok.
I am truly blessed and happy to say that I still have my mother to love and cherish. She is 90 and I am closest to her out of all her children. This song reminds me of her every time I hear it!! Peace and Blessings!!!!!!
What a touching and heartfelt song. I love the music of the last 50's and all of the '60's, even though i was quite young. I love this song, but find it hard to play often. I lost my mom and dad from illnesses, and then suddenly my youngest brother, all within months of each other a few yrs ago. I had to believe i would see them again, or just go into despair. I miss them terribly, but I know we'll meet again. That's what memories are for, and that's what God promised.
smush48, Dkano9 it right on point. I lost my mother at 41 and I have 2 young sisters I'm a decade before so I was strong for them. Its hard at first but with time tears are replaced with joy. Alwayyyyys remember the goodtime you all shared and past it on to your children if you have any yet. Moma will always be there in spirit.
My mother died two weeks ago...I was there along wth four of my brothers and sisters...My mother was 87...She did pretty good I guess for time..
I don't even know you Dkano9 but your message is so sweet. I am probably somewhat older than you(though I would never admit this in regular life), the oldest of five other siblings...
@platoon108 I'm so sorry for your loss...I'm 56 and I still have my mom so I can't relate to the loss of a parent but I can relate to the loss of loved ones. Be strong & stay united with your brothers...they need you!!!
I would like to speak to those who have commented on losing mothers...my heart goes out to you especially cause you are do young...do be strong...as time goes by the pain lessens and the good memories takes the place of the pain...I say this cause I lost my mom when I was 48 and it wiped me out for a while...stay strong and know time does heal all
@Dkano9 Right on! I lost my mother to complications to diabetes when I was 39. Yes, time does heal. But a picture of my momma of her when she was young hangs on my wall, even today. I am 68 now.
@Dkano9 How very sweet of you to give this kind of a comment to those grieving. You are very thoughtful....What you've written here is so true...thank you..phyllis x
@thetisanne Im so sorry for your loss, I am currently 15 and my mother died when I was 10. People like you are so very strong and its people like you that make me say, "Hey, if other people can get through the worst, then so can I."
I don't know what it's like to lose my Mom. Sorry to everyone who's lost their Mom. I lost my dad at 13 eight was 3 years ago. I know it must be just as bad losing your mother. but god has a purpose for everything he does. Stay strong and keep moving forward. Don't get down on your loss, celebrate the life of that person because you're only apart for now. Keep your head up.
On the other hand I live this song. I can't fully relate to it but I enjoy hearing such beautiful music :)

@smush48 and Tony, she loves you too rite now and always. yes it is really real and true. she just went to the higher spiritual realm. Theyr not 'gone'! i promise you. This is the True True Truth. (not any religion fairy tale i am tellin you. i promise. daj all my love.♥
WHAT CAN ANYONE SAY ABOUT THIS KIND OF SOUND - EVERYTHING YOU HEAR TODAY IS DERIVED FROM GROUPS LIKE THIS ESPECIALLY SLOW JAMS . IM WIT CHA NINE9BALLER
Brenda Payton has a better voice and more Talent than Janet Jackson. True. Jackson got a lot of help from her Family. But if you listen to both of them sing, Payton easily had the better singing voice. She didn't have a family with such star appeal already waiting for her. Pay no attention to the charts. That has nothing to do with talent.
Remember standing in the mirror w/the hairbrush as a mike singing along on the old am radio (wnjr) Newark, NJ to Brenda's beautiful unforgettable song.
hey oldie lovers. i need help finding a song fo my grandma. she dosent remember who its by but she thinks its called my baby has gone and left me. its goes a little something like "my baby has gone and left me, i dont know what to do(say)"
civilwardoc1, that is the difference between a young naive perspective and an older more aware perspective. I am sure that is what your parents thought too. In reality, life is better for so many now due to technology and human/civil rights advances all over the wold. Still, they say you can never go home. At least there is music to bring us back to that place in our memories.

Perez--I am apologizing if I have been disrespectful with my last post...But I have been listening to this song while I have been trying fabricate some sensible reason for even making any comment to you. Damn, I listen to this song too many times on some nights...
Perez.--So good to meet you, young angry man....I don't know you but I think I like your emotion for these older, pertinent songs. Maybe you have been in some uncomfortable places your own self... I have listened to this so sweet/sad song by Brenda a hundred times(no, more than a hundred times while I try to figure out some things that I will never be able to figure out) and it isn't enough yet...because it always takes me back to a place that was not so good ...but Brenda is too good...

I hate that most OLDER people think that all younger people dont like to listen or know about these oldies...stop being ignorant..cuz it sure as hell isnt all of us..and stop hating on music from today...and actually start to listen to the music..open your ears to different genres...you might learn something
I'm so glad you can hear the liyics & understand them ! it give me a very nice sensation! peace 7 calm just enjoying the soft lyric! it makes me remember when I lived in San Diago california! everybody hears this kind of music! oldies but goodies! awsome!
remember listening to this song with the fellows up in glasgow A.F.B. MONT thinking of the words we said to our ladies back home, daddy got to go now , and couldn.t wait till us guys got back the world in my case N.Y.C., good times.
I am sorry but everyone always talks about going to way back when things were better and there was no hate. Ummm....maybe if your white. But for anyone of color it wasn't ALL good. So lets not be delusional. Our society actually has came along way even if the music hasn't. I love this song.
LOL I read the first comment that has like 31 thumbs up, and I thought to myself, "Wow, that's beautiful..." Then I read your comment! Hahahaha Her comment made it seem like back in the day was a piece of pie. My grandparents struggled like hell!
@enorytl Wow...there has NEVER EVER been a more whiny group of people than those few blacks that STILL want to sit on a soft pillow provided by those that in actuality made life better for them. Sure, it was 'some white people from teh past' that have initiated taking some black people from afrika and brought em to the US to work under bad conditions...BUT, it was the same race that also set things right because they knew how to be civil, fair and do right. No thank yous needed...you are welcome
@cakesinthecity Or maybe a time when things started to change for the better. Living in the happy or the sad past denies the present and clouds the future.
Lost my mum a few years ago. If you are reading this and your mum is still with you, tell her you love her next time you see her.

Remember standing in the mirror w/the hairbrush as a mike singing along on the old am radio (wnjr) Newark, NJ to Brenda's beautiful unforgettable song.

civilwardoc1, that is the difference between a young naive perspective and an older more aware perspective. I am sure that is what your parents thought too. In reality, life is better for so many now due to technology and human/civil rights advances all over the wold. Still, they say you can never go home. At least there is music to bring us back to that place in our memories.

You took the words right out of my mouth. White people should think about all of the hell they gave my black race back in days.
enorytl 10 months ago 2
@enorytl Wow...there has NEVER EVER been a more whiny group of people than those few blacks that STILL want to sit on a soft pillow provided by those that in actuality made life better for them. Sure, it was 'some white people from teh past' that have initiated taking some black people from afrika and brought em to the US to work under bad conditions...BUT, it was the same race that also set things right because they knew how to be civil, fair and do right. No thank yous needed...you are welcome

@cakesinthecity Or maybe a time when things started to change for the better. Living in the happy or the sad past denies the present and clouds the future.
