  • 6 people are dead in soul :(

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you....! Thank you so much!

  • Love it

  • Sublime beautiful. Her voice shows how beautiful humankind is capable of being

  • HEAVENLY

  • So proud my name is Antonio!!!!

  • The old brotha Antonio keep kicking asses.

  • Very nice!!

  • Awesome ! But I didn't understand the relation between the meaning of the lyrics of this awesome song and the walking woman in the video ! ! ! ! ! ! I'm sorry I couldn't get it !

  • Such a great classical song...Simply beautiful.

  • @0ilovekitties0 Baroque, actually. Hear the harpsichord? Standard for the period ;)

  • @Nikolidas Oh...well, although I really appreciate the beauty of such music, I am not really familiar with its history and so forth. Thanks for the...how do you say it..."correction"?

  • @0ilovekitties0 It's only because it's not technically a classical piece :P that's all, no critique intended.

  • @Nikolidas Yes, I understand. I welcomed the clarification.

  • love the voice and the video

  • Best version of this piece... Jane Edwards' voice is just sublime!

  • Sound and visuals are enlightening.

  • Beautiful piece...Love the video.

    Where was it filmed?

  • This version i really like, i've a Lesley Garrett version but her voice is a little heavy for my liking.

  • amazing!!!

  • mesmerizing, both the video and the music! this is something truly special.

  • One might not be aware that in American English, there is no familiar you nor distant you as in most Latin languages. That is why I like the Wikipedia translation. Thou and thine impute a relationship with God, which might be lacking from today's secular society. My Latin knowledge admitedly comes from altar boy days in the Roman Catholic Church.

  • 6 people were disappointed it was not Justin Bieber singing

  • can justin bieber sing like that hahaha just kidding ...you know ...

  • Hi!

You know where i can find the compete score of this piece? Ive been looking all around with no luck. My sister has an ensemble of antique music here in Mexico and she would love to sing this piece.

  • @apac520: Look on sheet music plus dot com. They have it.

  • Elin Manahan Thomas' version is so muchbetter ...look for it on her album Eternal Light

  • @sscoltock I don't think that truly great sopranos' "versions" of this song can be truly compared to determine the "best" version - there is something glorious in everybody's interpretation.

  • shinutokini kono kyoku ga kikoete hoshii

  • The angels song!!! :D

  • Beautiful clip made on this music.

Since november last year I regullary have to look and listen

  • This is heaven on earth, on demand.

    Amazing!

  • Recitative

This world deceives the eye by surface charms,

but is corroded within by hidden wounds,

Let us flee him who smiles, shun him who follows us,

for by skillfully displaying its pleasures, this world

    overwhelms us by deceit.

Wikipedia Nulla in mundo pax sincera

  • @jerjoe60

what a lousy translation! What it means is this:

there is no peace in the world without bitterness

Purity and truth, sweet Jesus, are to be found in you [alone]

amongst trials and torments lives the contented soul

in chaste love lies its only hope

ie dont hope in the world but trust rather in love of divine things

It is difficult to translate poetry from another language word for word - but I hope my attempt conveys the true sense of it - better than Wikipedia anyway!

  • Is this heaven? Trippy video too!

  • Love this song more than words can say. The purity of her voice can't be matched.

  • In this world there is no honest peace

free from bitterness; pure and true

peace, sweet Jesus, lies in Thee.

    Amidst punishment and torment

    lives the contented soul,

    chaste love its only hope.

    Alleleia.

  • It's on the Shine soundrack. It's beutiful isn't it? Amazon has a few copies available.

  • Damn i´m glad i aint married to miss edwards. I Believe i would be dependent on that voice. It vould be my extacy

  • Hahaha, I never knew what she was singing and still don't except the fact that people says she is singing about Jesus, the Jewish man of Jerusalem-I told everyone just listening to her magnificent voice, that it seemed sadistic and a battle worthy song. My perception, nothing more nothing less.

  • Yep, this is an excellent versionh, REALLY suits her voice. Reminds me a lot of Emma Kirkby tone. Heard some real stinkers today - thank God for Jane Edwards.

  • She sings awesom.

I have this record from her already for more than 10 years, and still it hits me.

This world is with evil, but the Love of the Lord Jesus Christ and his promises for those who believe in Him will survive for eternity.

  • True Fredoom, feelings flow on universe, karma to me...

  • Thank you and God bless you wikipedia :)

  • This is an amazing recording!

Good job on the video :)

  • Thanks everyone for your reply. I have no clue what she is saying(until now) she makes it sound so beautiful...I really like the ending part starting from 3:45

  • I looked up this song on Wikipedia a while ago... it's in Latin. It's something about how in the darkest of times, God's beauty shines or something

  • Can anyone translate the full lyric of this song in English? Please post. Thanks!

  • In this world there is no honest peace

free from bitterness; pure and true

peace, sweet Jesus, lies in Thee.

    Amidst punishment and torment

    lives the contented soul,

    chaste love its only hope.

  • Hi There, Thanks for the post. Are you sure that this is the FULL lyric translation? I am questioning because I could find the same segment while googling. I love the song but I have no clue what language she is singing from(Latin?)...it sounds like there should be quite a few more lines...anyway I hope you are not offended.

  • the text i posted is the translation of the text of the first part of Nulla In mundo, wich is conformed by 3 parts, the one of the video here is the first one. In wikipedia you can find the texts of the other two parts of the opera in latin and translated to english. :)

  • Hi, ckk66, the translation is right. The text is latin, here are the lyrics, which are repeated a few times:

Nulla in mundo pax sincera sine felle; pura et vera, dulcis Jesu, est in te. Inter poenas et tormenta vivit anima contenta, casti amoris sola spe.

    Regards :-)

  • @ckk66 It's Latin and she repeats the words or lines in different tones. This stanza is called aria, which is only one of the many stanzas. Listen carefully (a few times), and you'll be able to distinguish each word.

    Good luck!

    It's a beautiful song

  • Go to wikipedia. I got it from there...... Beautiful!!!!!

  • There is no sincere peace in the world without bitterness pure and true/ sweet Jesus it is in you/ among the punishments and torments that the contented soul lives/ the only hope of pure love.

There is my on the fly Latin translation. Hope it helps :)

  • Jane Edwards owns this one!

  • Meraviglioso.

  • Point taken, but i still think todays music is mostly crap.

  • The crap doesn't survive. That's why you can still listen to this song today; it was passed on by people who recognized that it's not crap. I bet most of the music back then was crap too, and now they're forgotten.

Things became harder to forget with the digital age though. And there are too many people who haven't been exposed to anything better than crap too, so they keep the crap alive for a while I guess, but it can't go on forever. So I hope at least.

  • gazawyke - You should try and be a little more understanding of todays kind of music, it may not be as delicate as a piece such as this, but it has its own kind of feeling, which should be credited

(rap is just poetry to music, not that I particularly enjoy it).

  • I love this song only in Jane's voice . No one else...

  • agreed>! she is awesome!

  • best version ever

  • Esto sintetiza lo que es el universo, lo que es la vida..........gracias!

  • Viva Vivaldi!!!! Es toda mi vida, jaja! AHHHH, Dios, tantos recuerdos!!!!

  • Jane Edwards' voice is softer than Emma Kirkby's, cuter, and for my money altogether more squishy and cuddly and gotobeddably beautiful. Long live love.

  • pie jesu jenkins

    pie jesu

    eres tu

    ust singers

    here on youtube

    pls try

  • This is music, not like this crap today.

  • excelente

  • This is very nice music!!! Thanks for posting!

  • Beautiful piece...

  • Thanks, I was surprised to see it wasn't just here. I guess it's like that cow exhibition that travelled around the world. :-)

  • Emma Kirkby no tiene igual interpretando el Nulla... a quien no lo ha escuchado hágalo, es estremecedor. Por cierto este moto incluye el Aleluya más hermoso que yo conozca, altamente recomendable

  • Hey does anyone know if these walking figures are some sort of art exhibition or what? Because we have them here in Dublin, and I gather this is in Dublin.

  • Ok I meanth I gather this is in Germany lol sorry!

  • The vid is from Cologne, Germany, that's right. Julian Opie is all over the world, I guess ;-)

Look for Julian Opie, then you will find many vids with his sculptures.

  • Does anyone know where to find and buy that song with Jane Edwards? I search and search :S

  • It is on the CD with the soundtrack of the film "Shine".

  • @Monstromus

I have had mistaken bilief that the soprano who made the soundtrack of Shine was Emma Kirkby !!!

I bought Emma's CD but it was not the music I wanted. I love Jan Edward's voice ! Thank you.

  • @Natvaesen - you can also paste in the URL to this site for free: video2mp3(dot)net

  • @Natvaesen - You can buy it as a single on Amazon. com

  • hey just msg me!

omfg lol that's so funny!!! qe

  • God's female voice!! The most beautiful of any version ever! Nothing come close not ever!!!!

  • I totally agree! Jane Edwards brings even more layers of beauty to an already beautiful tune. This is hands down the best version ever!!!

  • Is this jane edwards from sydney now lives in tasmania

  • @piratzrule Yes.

  • Fantastique ! Quelle voix, et surtout l'originalité de l'illustration. On marche sur la musique ! Génial, simplement.

  • So much more than just a voice of an angel

  • Most Excellent!

  • Yes, this is definitely on the soundtrack of the movie, 'Shine'. A fine, fine film. This piece is played at the part of the film when David Helfgott was jumping on the trampoline.

  • Comment removed

  • He was on the trampoline jumping in slow motion. The scene begins with the woman whose house he is staying at and her friend comes to visit and they come in the house and find all these scattered music sheets around the house. They then go outside and David is jumping on the trampoline with just a trenchcoat on and listening to this piece via headphones. It is partly done in slow motion and it is so fitting with the soaring quality of her voice and the elated expression on David's face!

  • If you watched the film then you would see...you doofus!

  • This sounds like the artist singing in the film Shine, am i correct?

  • My favorite rendition that I've heard yet.

  • I saw this video a few weeks ago..and thought..WHAT UP WIT DIS? But then I keep coming back to it-It hooked me.I think it is a juxtaposition kinda thingie kinda goin on like n stuff AHHH! IT'S JUST WEIRD..BUT I LIKE IT.;-D Like tinofilipino said..Strange but I like it for some reason! ANYHOO..I faved it.

  • v good

  • This is what angels sing like.

  • I agree that this is a strange video, but I like it for some reason

  • Jane Edwards soprano???

Questa è la voce inconfondibile di Emma Kirkby.

  • Yes, sounds just like her.

  • Kirkby is brilliant, too. The colour of her voice is a bit darker. This is definitely Jane Edwards.

  • You are wrong. This is Jane Edwards on the soundtrack of the film "Shine".

  • I know this is Jane Edwards. That's what I said.

  • Inconfondibile??? Questa e la voce incomparibile di Jane Edwards! Ascolta una altra volta...apri le orecchie!

  • Voice from heaven
