  • i used to larp like these people. then i took an arrow to the knee

  • This is the retarded style you end up with if you outlaw headshots. Has hardly any basis in reality.

  • @possumofdestruction True. Still fun though!

  • @possumofdestruction And it's not like it would be too hard to fix. Make people wear helmets. Seems like a simple solution.

  • lol with yuor fighting style looks more like a bat

  • Some of the best fighting on youtube. It was interesting to watch all of the preemptive blocking done by the fighter with the red shield in the second pairing.

  • LARPUUUUUUUUUUUH!!!!!

  • Those swords are really thin? Or is it just me?

  • i know some of these guys and i'm pretty sure they would beat your ass if u fought against them

  • @PFPodge I'm pretty sure I would beat him, though.

  • of course if those were real swords and shields... the combat would be slowed by alot

  • @XIIOniOokamiXII

In tests I've done, the combat isn't slowed as much as I thought. Real steel has more even weight distribution, which lends fluidity unachievable with foam, and in addition, steel blades have a fraction of the air-resistance. The main slowing factor with steel is the lack of "bounceback".

  • next time use a real sword not a pixie stick..I hate how those rediculous looking things keep cropping up. Its a battle game where we fighting with SWORDS not mini canoe paddles...no offense but these "weapons" are the sorts of sport type stuff is ruining the game.. might as well put a gient floating pepsi can above the battlefield...

  • they are fighting like noobs! XD

  • This is entertaining to watch, it looks quite skillful. However, I prefer the Roman style of combat with the stabbing techniques etc. A few inches of a point is much deadlier than ay edge.

  • Only problem is that it's mace and shield

  • i want to go there!

but i dont live in america :C

  • nice dresses.

  • ok I see you guys are quick, that is for sure

However,I say it is time to slow it down to devolop better bio mechanics for defence

  • Man I LOVED this vid! The Music that they 'had' to use..rocked the medieval theme. TO bad it doesn't run the full length :(

I Just started a group..loosely based on the BULK of Dagorhir rules. We are about 3 steps back from this lvl :) But we're learning.

  • Damn I love Lunasa though

  • i think it is so stupid that your arm is "cut off" from one hit that would need so much force for that to happen in a really sword fight. At my larp we use bp body points it is way more fun then that one hit limb gone thing. just saying not to be offensive.

  • @yoda1515159 Well maybe if it cuts tendons or something... Lol. That and some groups go to only having solid hits no glancing blows

  • @yoda1515159 well first dag is fought at a much faster speed then most larps. second, the reason dag does it is for simplicity sakes.

  • @yoda1515159 technically its not really considered "cut off", just that you've lost use of that arm...

  • @yoda1515159 I don't think it's to imply that it's been "cut off", but disabled. However, I've never played, but knowing the human anatomy, I could tell you--with confidence--that if you were slashed in the arm with a steel short-sword or hand-and-a-half long sword, your arm would not be usable afterwards, especially with the kind of velocity they're using.

  • SMACK lol

  • I would like to say to all people out there. One please do not compare sports, or LARP's or anything of that sort. Each sport or activity is different. It just doesnt work. Also any sort of MARTIAL ARTS, does not give any advantage over any one in DAGORHIR. If you think you are any better then any of these people simple. Go onto the dagorhir web boards or find these peoples contacts.Go to their practices, and challenge them in their sport. BTW TY for the vid

  • @ZKingOdin thats not necesarily true i took bushido or way of the sword so ill tell you that helped me alot when i started dagorhir

  • and im done this is stupid we wont agree ever even though its clear this looks like untrained people hitting each other like 2 13 year old girls its kool have fun amatures

  • @learntodrivenow

You just need to come out to a Dag event to understand what I am saying.

  • and then the music stopped randomly

    xD

  • lol 1:20 guy in brown sucks lol this isnt basket ball lol go left.... no right!

  • Evias far from sucks. He uses a red a lot more now a days, but he does not suck. And I have no idea what the basketball reference is about.

  • @futacular the fakes lol the one thing i do not like about dag is alot of the people (most) go for hits that would not do crap in a real fight like sling shot hits and hes like faking at him and junk when i rate people on fighting i relate it to real fighting and he sucks lol

  • I will say what I always do. This isn't real fighting. If you are good at 'real fighting' all you do is bitch and moan about foam fighting. If you are good at boffer combat, then 10-1 you are not good at real combat with a sword. This is a game, not real life.

  • its the same thing but no blood its based of (real) and real fighters own people fighting like this in dagorhir.

  • No, no they don't.

  • @learntodrivenow

Trust me, no they don't. Certain techniques just don't work. Don't incorporate "real" fighting into Dagorhir, I used to make that mistake and I learned my lesson.

  • well then it was real if it was real an they beat u then that means back in the old days this type of fighting would beat them and it wouldnt and being trained with a sword at a mma place or any mm place will serve u well. better than this fighting and will beat them and i am incorporating it because it works

  • @learntodrivenow

Dude, no it wont. I'm telling you. The only type of fighting training that MIGHT help you is eskrima. The only thing that any other martial art training will help with is balance and stance, but not technique. Trust me on this. The guy at 3:50 with the red shield, that's Ori - he's a true MMA fighter, if you see, he is not incorporating any of his techniques into Dagorhir because he knows it wont work against Kem who is not an MMA fighter.

  • mm shows u stance and balance alone in its normal training they do show u technique maybe not mma ma's do which i what i meant in the other comment when i put mm and yes it does. this looks stupid lol its all about counter attacks and if they teach you though this fighting is worthless and if ur fighting like that in a big battle ur wasting so much time everyone will be dead by the time u kill ur guy lol if ur not att by that time anything that long to kill some1 sucks b.c. u kill faster in real

  • lefty for teh win lol

  • These guys gotta check the weight of their swords and their protection. Guess they wouldn't be as quick as in the video.

  • Everyone filmed in this video (even tho it was probably 2-3 years ago) try to be as good as they can. Keeping up with new weapon tech etc. They probably have 12-14oz swords, which is legal. I promise you, they are as fast as they look in this video.

  • Wish there was a strap round here. I mean I understand against other top fighters all using heaters or large punches it's a disadvantage...But meh.

  • anyone larp in new york city

  • Anyone interested in Dagorhi in the Calgary Alberta Canada area? By the way great vid, you guys are sooooo fast!

  • lol omega seams to like fighting shirtless xD

  • very nice back ground were are you guys based, love the lake

  • What song is this?

  • I love Ori's (it is Ori, right?) little spinning cleave there at the end...

  • that boy with the tiger on his shield is so hot!

  • Really? C'mon now, cut that out.

  • yeah they do lol and i found it out kinda lol

  • Dead in 2 sec..

  • Evias has become the best sword and board fighter...at least one of the top 3

  • disturbingly fast, and even more disturbingly accurate. i'd like to spar him just to see what i can pick up.

  • He's become great at the high cross, and he LOVES leg shots. Oh, and one more thing, he fakes with everything he has- including his EYES. So...yeah.

  • i appreciate the intel. i've got a combined 14yrs of fighting (sca and dagorhir) but am always willing to learn something new.

  • No problem. Where do you fight?

  • Sage Hill. we have the unique honor(?) of being a dagorhir chapter smack dab in the middle of belegarth territory. it makes my job of head herald very "interesting"

  • Dude, Bel and dag are 98% the same. Bel-in general, laxer rules. Better quality of fighters

Dag-More rules. More new people. They seem to be lagging behind in what I condisder FFT(foam Fighting Tech)

  • what if your opponent is very strong and bash your leg with is shield when you kick it?

  • Then he is a badass, though it can't happen because of the physical advantage kicking has over arm thrusting. It's just physics really.

  • How much does it cost costume and weapon wise to get some of that equipment? Also, how much does it cost to be a member of Dagorhir?

  • You don't have to pay to join Dagorhir, and most chapters are a bit lenient about costume... Sometimes they have a few community weapons lying about for new members to use..

  • tru but some teams charge just for the perpus of makeing community weapons

  • depends on what team you join. and my costume i made im currently making chain mail armor ovr 2 month and i only hav a vest made

  • Brovo Nice Shield Kick @ 1:33

  • Great Location, where is that?

  • Belegarth's Better!

  • Fighting is fighting. The more fighting, the better, be it Dag or Bel. So shut up.

  • or boffa

  • Lunasa/Dagorhir is an awesome combination, make more such videos!!!!

  • i would hate usin shields they seem too bulky, would rather have 2 swords

  • You'd be surprised.

  • I usually fight with two scimitars as opposed to shields, but trust me, the shield is the best way to go. I only refrain from shields because where I fight, everybody is too young to be a decent match. But ya, shields are the best defense.

  • i could see in a wall battle the benefit of a shield but after the initial clash it normally breaks off into mini sparring match type things and then the shiled would just get in the way if u are skilled and depending on the size o the shield because of its surface area it can slow u down quite a bit

  • Dude real weapons weren't 3 inches thick really the sheild is the only way to go for survival at all and taking on more then 1 person or two if you are very good with armor and a red/duoble blue is about the maximum sheild you can go about 4 inexperienced people.

  • also i would think if u can block well with the sword u wouldn't need a shield and could in theory get about 2 times more hits then normal if u have another sword...i think i gonna use a mini strap shield about the size of a frisbee

  • Comment removed

  • o u can find a tutorial on youtube for shield, if not try to find maybe foam floaties, the extra ones that u strap on

  • great spirit, i love it

  • We were told to try and keep things basic.

    I was also drunk.

    Ori

  • no but sometimes shoulder hits looks like head shots

  • are head shots legal?

  • Only with arrows.

  • Good fighting, shitty music.

  • Hey, I know those guys...

  • Wow, lots of high crosses, no stabbing, and weak wraps. No one parries with their sword either, just moves their shield a lot. Fun to watch though.

  • Their weapons don't have legal stabbing tips.

  • (haggis)I don't know why you used MY haggis account to post this comment....but hey, at least you are not a complete ass I suppose.

    Password Changed

  • Agrees with Kedric. MUCHO KUDOS. cant wait for the rest. When i'm not tired I will analyze it more :D

  • actually watching this over and over again... I am disappointed in the way I fought. Most people I have sparred can say I have done better.

  • I would like to see a video of a real fight between some of you, not something for show.

  • it wasn't just "for show".. although they told us just to throw basic shots.

  • damn ori you are terrible

  • Now, what I notice, is a strong weakness in placement and timing. Their shots are telegraphed. Also, when these fighters lose their shield arms, they become a non-threat. The shield is used less as a defensive or offensive tool, and more like a crutch. I'm going to guess they all started with a sword (or club) and shield, but never ventured outside of that.

Against each other, they look great. They're fast, and they have a variety of sword tricks to make up for what they lack in sword technique.

  • One thing to keep in mind about these videos is that we were told to keep thing very basic and readable for new fighters. That's why I look at the camera and say sorry every time I start a half-ass spin. Personally, I found this to be the main restriction put on us.

These videos were made to show newbies where most swings should be landing, along with ideal footwork, and to visually teach the three-corners approach.

Your comment is pretty spot on, though.

  • Cameras are hard to ignore, I fully understand that. But now I see what you were going for. Being slowed down would mess with a person's muscle memory if they are used to throwing as fast a strike as they can. I also don't disagree with spins, you seem to have the mechanic down right, but they are a more intermediate maneuver. What I would take from this video if I were a new fighter is that lefties throw sword-side wraps with abandon, and it's up to righties to anticipate it.

  • Good... thats what we lefties want you new fighters to think... buahahahah

  • Ossum.
