  • Sorry to be pedantic but it is just HK not H and K, pet peeve of mine. However your prowess and knowledge when it comes to knives and tool steel, for that matter makes up for it. I am an armorer/gunsmith and an ABS journeyman and your knowledge is ,well, intimidating. I just stumbled upon your videos and I am impressed

P.S.One way to maintain product exclusivity is to overprice it.

  • @Shankb777 Well the company is "Helckler and Koch" not "Heckler Koch" so I think H and K works...

  • @Shankb777 Heckler and Koch? Dont you think its pretty understandable to say it as H&K?

  • after watching xxxM85xxx video called Knife Lock Test (CS, Kershaw, Benchmade,Gerber, Spyderco) i real don't trust liner locks any more

  • I miss these old classic table top reviews

  • I respect that some guys can't afford a $200 benchmade but as for me I just like to buy american but I do have a cold steel recon 1 that was made in taiwan and that is an amazing knife so the quality is out there you just have to look

  • Want to know something funny? The tenacious and this knife are made in the same exact factory...Sanrenmu makes all chinese knives for Benchmade and Spyderco.

  • @LedZeppelin13k7 Not *all* of Spyderco's Chinese knives are made by SanRenMu, but a number of models are. They also OEM for CRKT (Drifter) and Buck (Nobleman)

  • I like the shape of the German blades.

  • Based on nutn's review of this blade, I found one of these on ebay, new, for just over $50. First production too, 274 of 500, and it's so gorgeous. It's like knife-porn. Awesome.

  • Actually u can change the clip to have it left side tip down. You have to pop off the plastic hk logo. They give u an extra one so u can replace it on the right side if u want to change it. You should really update ur info. I was upset u said the clip couldn't go to other side. But I bought it anyways and found out u could!

  • i have something like that second knive.. also benchmade for like 4 dolars and i dont want anytheng more from my knive expensive knives are just trowing money xD

  • Kershaw leek is an awesome knife..under $40

  • YOU LIE!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU FORGOT KERSHAW!!!!!! but what do I know I dont have a bunch of awesome videos about knives and just like all your other ones this is awesome just pointing that out if anything not bashing your video keep the great videos coming!

  • I just get the feeling that it looks a lot like the CRKT Drifter

  • My god, I kept wondering if he was gonna pull out another knife! Now you've added another 3 knives onto my list. Damn you!

  • 1/25/11 --- POPULATE THIS: Ganzo 704. @$22.00 shipping included. 8" over all. 440c steel. VERY VERY close to the HK14205 in weight, dimensions and axis lock. The Benchmade is five times more expensive. I have three Benchmades and this Ganzo. TheG704 is VERY VERY close in build quality and 440c ain't so bad..

  • I love the flat surfaced G10 handle... too many companies feel the need to machine lines and designs in the handles. I love my G10 textured and flat, no decorative grooves, cutouts, etc. (contoured finger grooves are fine) needed. I may have to pick one of the Ascenders up, most definitely the smaller one... :)

  • Only complaint about your videos is the length. A lot of them are too long and could've been wrapped up pretty quickly. That being said, you do somehow fill them with information.

  • I have 334 / 500. Its pretty cool, but I did have the issue of the blade unfulding in my pocket.... Not cool.

  • that is my favorite playlist that you have, for the reason that i do not have a lot of money to spend on knives, being that im only 16 and just lost my job. so great playlist nutn, your vids are my favorite to watch on youtube.

  • for two companies like H&K(German) & Benchmade (USA) to go and make a chinese knife is a shame

  • @Cutlerylover7 they have been making chinese knives for a while (their red line up). people who get to hung up on the country need to stop being so close minded

  • Nice Video. Thank you for doing it. Would say that you could buy a CS Spartan, about the same money, get a bigger knife, longer reach, better handle and is made of the same material as is the Recon. IMO That not withstanding this video may be previous to the Spartan's release date.

  • sig is expensive but its the best

  • i wish i can get all the knives that you review!... the ones you think are good and OK atleast! hehe

  • Benchmade is one of the best in USA! The only one that can compete with it is Master of Defence

  • you have 666 videos now... SATAN! lol

  • i actually had a knife come out of the handle in my pocket and i jammed my hand in there... i literally bled all over bag n' save

  • if you pop out the hk logo it comes with another one so that you can swap sides for the pocket clip, although you cant swap ends.

  • Mine happened to come SUPER sharp outta the box. (#85/500) It's HUGE! I also got the tanto tip. It's hard to find a good tanto version of a blade that's not partially serrated. Love it. Got because of this review. Thanks, Nutn.

  • Fondle???? LOL, I love fondling knives

  • Byrd Knives are VERY impressive considering their $30 price tag. They are a little brother company from Spyderco, if that means anything to you.

  • I would like to see a video of NutnFancy's collection versus his son Tacticaldoodle's. I would like to see them compare there favorites. This as far as I know is the only knife referenced that they both have though i am sure there are others. Make a great video master and student, father and son comparing there favs!!! I am sure it would be fun and interesting video for TNP.

  • Nice knife but theblade on the Benchmade Vex is better shape for the same amount of cash.

  • I believe that Kershaw has the best knives for around $40. I have a strom 2 WITH reversable clip, nice steel(Sandvik 13C26), and made in USA. I like kershaw for my cheeper knives and benchmade for my nicer knives. I am aslo lookin at a kershaw junkyard dog 2, anybody have an opinion?

  • "hang out with your knife" lol

  • So is this knife made by Benchmade or H&K?

  • Flash, H&K is a full blown separate top-notch gun company. They have nothing to do with Benchmade, and certainly aren't a sub-company.

Benchmade is separate from H&K, they just used H&Ks logo on this knife for advertisement purposes.

  • @Orthrus and so they can make stuff in china benchmade only puts the butterfly on american made knives

  • @Orthrus

Ah. I was wondering why HK had their logo on a Benchmade knife. Thanks!

  • thew vid stopped at 18:09 for me...idk why though.

  • this must have gone out of production because i cant find it at YourCornerStore

  • Part 2:so the liner is hardly accessible, and takes ridiculous force to disengage.

Second: the liners aren't drilled out,no skeletonized construction.

Third: there aren't any phosforus-bronze bushings under the blade,it opens slow and takes a lot of force to open.

Fourth: the spacers on the back of the knife don't connect to the right side of the knife.

Fifth: the blade is totally dull,I can run my fingers over the edge and nothing happens.

So this knife is a TOTAL waste of money, avoid it!

  • I also have a Mini Ascender, it's a First Production Run model ... none of the problems you describe, razor sharp out of the box.

  • Well, i'm glad that you don't have the majority of the problems! :)

But there are surely some that yours has too: the abscence of the "choil" at the liner on the handle, the unskeletonized liners and the abscence of the phosfor-bronze bushings...

As for the other problems: maybe i had bad luck with my knife, but still think that this is unacceptable from a maker like BM. It's a big shame that in the passing 1-2 years the have been producing knives like this and CSK II for example. :/

  • You are absolutely right, the design is still what it is. But I can live with the quality of the design, keeping in mind that it's a 40 dollar knife. I don't mind that it is not skeletonized. I dropped the idea of drilling out the liners as this would change the balance of the knife unfavorably. I don't mid the bushings, deployment is lightning fast as is.

Since production quality and quality control is not OK, throw the knife back on them and test the quality of their their customer service!

  • Well I have VERY bad experience with the Mini Ascender.

I can tell you guys,it's the worst knife I ever had.

It was a really big disappointment for me about BM quality.

The knife has serious problems, right out of the box.

The liner is the worst. It's as hard to disengage as a Byrd Catbyrd's (!!!) ,it's poorly constructed and bent at about the center of the handle,so tha it bends the thin G10 too (!) , there isn't a "choil" on the other side of the handle,so you can't reach the liner...

  • Lefties ... the logo on the handle is removable and you can use the holes underneath for the clip!

  • Would you Rather have the reon 1 or the acsender

  • How is this vs the Spyderco Tenacious?

  • i sometimes like the back spacer. i know for whittling its nice to not get so much pressure on your hand. but just like point thickness or blade steel it depends on specifically what you're doing

  • i agree i also whittle some times

  • i don't very often with a blade coating though, i like to keep it nice unless i plan on punishing it

  • i agree that is what i use my spyderco persistence for

  • nutnfancy!! WILL U PLEASE MAKE A KA-BAR MULE REVIEW????!!!!!!!!!!

  • that's one of the most beautiful tac folder I've ever seen 0_o

  • Nice and open for easy cleaning of the mud, blood and guts. Awesome quote! haha yes this makes knives much more efficient and easier. Important to have a knife that is easy to clean the left overs of your victims.

  • ah also if you didn't know, the HK logo on the other side pops off so you can attach the clip for left-handed user, it should have come with another HK logo for the other side..

  • Sweet dude, I picked one up about 3 months ago, 119 out of 500 hehe. Yours came sharp out of the box, because mine came incredibly dull?

  • Just got one today "first production run 430 out of 500", haven't got any problem with the blade, nice and sharp :)

  • where did you get it i can not find it for 40 dollars

  • First of all no edge doesn't mean there is no quality control. If they don't put an edge they just don't put an edge (obviously a cheaper knife). There's a difference between out of box features and quality control.

Second, the cold steel recon DOES retail at 100 but you can find them sold at 60. When Nutnfancy talks about retail prices he's is talking MSRP. If you've watched a lot of his previous vids, you would understand that.

  • Dude, NutnFancy quotes REAL prices from yourcornerstore more often than not. Besides, my point was why would you buy an H&K (in name only) junk china knife when you can get the superior ColdSteelRecon knife for $20 more?

Q-C is a process to ensure junk does not go out the door to the consumer. The H&K has a dull edge. So for your $45 bucks, you get a knife that failed Q-C, or the plant has no Q-C at all - so they suck. Ask yourself, if Gillette sold you a dull razor, would you say "OK, cool"??

  • Q-C?

  • ur retarded! when u make 400 somethin videos... then talk about knives to nutnfancy.

  • You write like a child. Try critical thinking. As a long time 'Nutn' fan, I learned to use what's called judgment and experience. If you want to play sycophant, you are guilty of exactly what Nutn warns about in his earlier videos: "brand myopia".

  • That Recon one looks sexy.

  • that sucks man i mean ugly

  • I bought a Spyderco Persistence today and the video is taken down. Why?

  • I still see it up

  • pshhhh.... i use sharp stones. old school

  • Imo Id rathar pack a Rat RC3 and deal with 3 extra inches of space being taken up, and have a fixed blade to worry about those 'tougher' situations where I might hit wall or brick/what have you.

  • If you dont like something about his videos dont watch them. Instead of rallying other pricks together for a giant tosser fest.

  • Does anyone know where to get it for 40 dollars? Most places I see have it for like 50 dollars.

  • I bought mine for 59 :(, that includes shipping.

  • First off, I'd just like to say that I really appreciate all of your videos, I've been watching them to gather information on guns and knives recently. I think your information is excellent and accurate.

I was just wondering if you could take a look at the S&W CKHB hawkbill knife. It's a little heavy, and an odd blade design, but I feel it's a solid design. I've had one for a while and it still works well for me. Thanks, and keep on truckin!

  • dude, youtube has "The Hunted" knife advertised next to such a good knife review.....sucks

  • that blade would be soooo much better if it came sharper than a butterknife. i would totaly buy it if it came sharpish.

  • HK had a knife made in cooperation with Boker earlier. It was designed by HK and had HK's polymer in the handle, and several design details taken from the USP pistol.

It was made by Boker in Solingen Germany. Check it out.

  • I'd kinda like you to do more long guns. I mean, you only have 5 guns reviewed. >.>

  • good looken knife i like the ka bar's my self i dont own 1 but have handel a few at stores im more a a gun guy

  • Thanks for another great review! I like the G10 on this blade, but find everything else about the RAT1 folder to be superior. Made in Taiwan not China (no nuke weapons to contribute to) and much cheaper! Thanks to Nutn's videos the Ontario has become my standard by which all other inexpensive large folders are measured (and some expensive ones too) just my two cents worth.

  • what is the 200dollar knife he talked about? emerisson?

  • emmerson, trust me its worth it. they are super quality knives. like benchmade.

  • Did Heckler & Koch have anything to do with the development of the knife, or did they just slap their name on it so they could put it on their online store?

  • Ha 22:35

Good video 13 is my lucky number!

  • Hey nutnfancy another outstanding video. You're the best. I think you should review the sig sauer p 238 I really value you're opinion and would appreciate your views on that particular firearm. It's a sig sauer everyday carry right up your alley.

  • SWEET !!!!!

  • is there a serrated version of this?

  • yes, I own it.

  • Finally a H&K Knife :D

Thinking about getting a Snody to go with my 416.

  • You have an HK 416? Im guessin you dont live in america.

  • Norway bro. Military issued.

  • Fantastic. I'm law enforcement here and they don't let us carry anything but Colt AR's. Been trying to get them to let us qualify with 416's. There purchasable if your law enforcement.

  • i have 4

  • i dont want to sound like one of those ppl who are like " yo man you gotta review..." but the ka-bar mule is the best value folding knife i ever saw.

  • blooper @ 22:35

  • lol that looks like a remake of the Smith and Wesson s.w.a.t knife i.e same blade shape. i have a first production s&w s.w.a.t knife and it the blade looks just the same except it is 440c

  • look you can buy that knife but it doesnt really compare in quality usually so ok you can buy that cheap knife but things like steel quality lock up handle quality etc etc will really be a lot worse than more expensive knives but if u like or love your cheap knife that probably wont work as well or last nearly as long good for you but there are a lot of differences in quality that you may or may not realize that are why that knife is $45 and yours is $6.85

  • we'll see...I didn't say they were equal but they're both chinese crap like I said we'll see. probably made by the same people so think as you wish...and this knife had a $30 marked down to $13 then I guess to $6.85 but thats irrelevant glad you guys didnt like my comments lmao

  • do you know what website I can get it from?

  • i had my crkt m 16 open in my pocket and it would have sucked if the tip was up

  • sometimes the tip up carry is not always the best. I had my tenacious open in my cargo pocket almost cutting my leg when i squated down. squated thats funny!

  • Looks pretty good for only $40

  • hey man love your vids, ive looked over all 400 + and i was wondering if any one has asked to have you reveiw the mossberg ATR .270 or any caliber for that matter. it's cheap to buy you can get a rifle with mounts for 260 at wally world and thats pretty cheap for a good bolt gun, if it is good. just wondering if you would possibly consider doing one in the future.

  • LMAO blade shit @ 22:34

  • about the clip being on the wrong end; I personally like having tip-down carry especially with a blade that may tend to open partially while being carried.

  • Last Suspect is getting play dough on your knives lol.

  • I think I'll have to get me one of them. I really like the looks.

  • Nutn under science and technology class-nice

  • the spring on one side of my axis lock on the benchmade 940 broke....... =\

  • germans and their amazing products...

    ;)

  • maybe german but made in china lol

  • Hey nutn I'm an avid watcher of your vids and was wondering your take on the H&K Auto, Model # 14700? I've had it for some time now and love it, it has that "second kind of cool for me" haha.

  • Booooo @ no more autos :( After looking into defensive blade use I'd say absolutely I'd never want anything other than an auto or a fixed blade. Side by side in my hand, yeah I can open a Benchmade as fast as an auto. But in a high stress situation nothing beats an auto except a fixed blade.

  • YAY for back to reviews. Nice one nutnfancy.

  • damn... CHINA..... ouch

just kidding alost evrery knife nutnfancy shows is approved, and good enough for my needs thanks for the vids man

  • man you can still see some battle damage on the knife you used for stabbing protocol vid, nice.

All the knifes in this video look nice. could you just drill some of your own holes and change the position of the clip?

  • Kershaw blur over this anyday man

  • the blade shit 22:35

  • Hahahaha.

  • I think... I'm.... IN LOVE WITH THIS KNIFE.

Oh, it's goin' on my list!

  • "made in China" doesn't automatically quarantine a knife as a p.o.s. .....its all about a company's quality control.

  • True, but Benchmade has been having QC problems in the USA for the past couple years. Now they are shipping knives dull. Benchmade is the new Gerber.

  • I'll agree. I bought a Benchmade LFK off of Nutnfancy's review of it. It IS a lot of knife, and it came sharp, but the pocket clip loosens up ALL THE TIME. It was so bad, that one of the screws came out and got lost and I had to ask Benchmae to re-ship me replacements. They were cool about doing it, but it's left a bad taste in my mouth.

  • Loctite dude.

  • he suggested a tip for the screws. Buy some locktite (can find it at walmart) and put a drop in and screw it in.

  • Loctite

  • Have you learned nothing from his vid's? Just because its made in China doesn't mean its a POS.

  • fin locking liner its not good bekose its kan go too far & you known whats hepening! no fingers

  • I wonder how easy it to self skeletonize a liner?

  • Probably not very, but I bet you have veryyyyyyyyy careful not to compromise the strength of them.

  • 5 stars, great review, might pick up one of these soon

  • The blade looks like it's been modeled after a SOG Spec-Elite II... Hmm.

    Good review NnF :)

  • I had a liner-lock knife fail on me while doing some work with it. Granted it was not a very expensive knife but it totally turned me off that locking system. My current folder has a lock-back system but I am considering upgrading to a faster system with one of the newer styles of locks.

  • try the Benchmade axis lock

    I hate lockbacks personally

  • BLUNTRUTH4U did a good review of the Spiderco Tenacious. He didn't like it very much.

  • When I heard you say that HK is overpriced I was hoping you'd mention Sig. But you know they are NOT the same. Plain jane USP 9mm can be found new or like new for 650, with the P226 going for 800. Those shitheads only give you ONE magazine for your 800 dollar gun. Not to mention how INSANE their accessory prices are.

Just thought I'd mention that. Both guns are great though.

  • 5/5m8

  • hey nutnfancy, it would be amazing if you could do a quick review on the KA-BAR MULE tanto folder. i plan on getting it but would like some additional support for my decision. thanks

  • killa2191 - Ka-Bar Mule is too damn big for a folding knife...they have them in all the military exchanges here and they look ridiculously large. I think there are many better options.

  • i'm a lefty they will .....not be getting my money.

  • anyone want to guess how long it takes before this knife is coyote brown?

  • lol 2 weeks and im going with dessert earth ahaha

  • Anyone have a non scam store that sells these knives to the UK?

  • new graham will ship international. regardless of whom you order from you need to call and talk to someone there to get everything straightened out.

  • can you just search UK knives for sale.

  • wish that clip could move to other side. does that HK logo pop out to allow clip mount?

  • Even if it wasn't a real surprise, now we all know that Nutnfancy likes "the blade shit"... (:

    Excellent video!

  • could you later review the endurance of the ascender?thx man

  • you rock nuttin, love the vids good to hear that theres more coming

  • Newer Militaries have aliner on both sides.

They match the locking liners size and are not full slabs.

  • nice review again! thanks

  • sadly in Germany its not available

  • The kershaw skyline is US made, and only $30 at Walmart. It is my favorite knife too, and I have other $60-$100 knives.

  • just love your knife vids!!!!!!!

  • I wish he would do more gun reviews.

  • Playa, what kind of cameras do you use? Could you please do some reviews cameras?

  • I just bought a Spyderco Tenacious last week!

  • Haha Doodle said it was the HK Avenger. I was googling "hk avenger" with no results thikning to myself "Wow... Doodle must really have the hook up."

  • you almost said "blade shits." Awesome vid, was thinkin about geting that knive. Keep up the great reviews

  • About the liner locks: It's not just the thickness, it's also where it's placed. On this HK, it's right near the edge of the joint, where it is more likely to slide off, or be forced off. With both Spyderco's and the RAT the liner is placed in the middle of the joint, where it sits more securely.

That HK does not look secure to me.

  • you realy now what you are talking...

    great stuff...

    regards

    sercout

  • hay nutn its 472 vids not 474 don't worry everyone makes mistakes lol love your vids keep up the good work

  • Hard to beleive I've seen them all. :-P

  • hurry up and duracote them......

  • That is a bid old folder!

  • dont get me wrong i love all ur vids but i wish u could do more shotgun reviews by the way great vid

  • Nutnfancy you should have a website

  • Thanks, Dude, as usual; Awesome Info!

  • Hey,

how about a Spyderco native for your "under 40" playlist. The one i have is S30V steel, FRN handles, agressive jimping on the spine and a good pocket clip and i paid 40 for it. I carried it for years and it never let me down, I still have it and still love it.

  • The blade is a bit similar with the Smith & Wesson S.W.A.T Large Black assisted knife

  • I don't know how you do it, Nutnfancy--between your job, military duties and family you're still able to put out quality videos consistently for us to enjoy. Thanks again for making the evenings entertaining.

  • not sure if anybody saw this/cares..... but in the new G.I. Joe movie..... by the way it sucked. One of the characters had a knife that clearly said C.R.K.T. I thought that was kinda cool.

  • Wh-Wh-WHA?!?! You mean to tell me that a summer movie starring Marlon Wayans sucked? Was there not enough explosions? I just don't get it, I'm officially perplexed! HAHAHA!!! JK JK!
