I get a similar problem. My modem hangs sometimes and just stops sending out any data for some reason. This usually results in a big lag on accessing web sites and sometimes time-outs, even though Windows indicates that my internet connection is okay.
A big part of your problem is that garbage Ambit modem you have. Swap that out for a Motorola or Cisco modem if you can. Also call in and get them to come out to your house (if you are a kid, have your parents do it) in the afternoon. If it is consistent then they should find the problem
you have a very bad return signal as the temperature of the day climbs signal degrades with proper cabling you will never see this. every time you had a splitter to your cable you cut the forward and return signal down all modems are designed to run off the first splitter for optimum performance. you need a service call.

I think it is the fluctuation of the electricity. Try using a UPS and or power strip. That would help. I have had the same issue before. Now I have stable connection. Also, if you are using a router, plug the router on the UPS and or power strip.

I have the same -FUCKING- problem. Everyday at mornings and nights the line is gone for about 3OR 4 HOURS. I guess im gonna channge my Internet provider. They sent a guy to fix it but he found nothing wrong(i had internet when he was fixing), once he was gone, again the same shit.

for DNS issues i do recommend you to have your security software disabled. If you still cant connect, if you have a router try bypassing it. if you still cant, try flushing your dns by going to command prompt and typing the words ipconfig/flushdns then hit enter and type the words ipconfig/registerdns
About once a month, my Verizon DSL just won't work for a day. It affects my Voip service so that puts me out of using the internet and getting to use my phone. I've called Verizon DSL and it usually takes like 4+ hours when it's working again. Now, I just unplug it and let the frazzled modem just fix on its own. Well, thanks for your opinon, I guess all these companies have their problems so I'll do more investigation before I drop Verizon and Directv.

If your modem has a coaxial cable connection in the back you should check the coaxial cable to see if it is connected properly. mines had the same problem but i checked the coaxial cable and it worked
Try putting in your personal IP adress in your Internet Explorer, and go to IP Bans, you probably have yourself on a ban from 11-5you can cancel it by hitting reset (Hint Personal IP is something like 192.168.0.1 (not that) but something like it depending on your ISP)

your cable modem is not syncing with the cable modem termination system on the cable company's end. It's either due to bad wiring in your home or their levels on their return path. Have you split your wires in your home? If you have..try removing any splits you have made and running the line directly to the modem.
I live in Anaheim California and I can not relate to anything your saying. I will admit when I first hooked up my modem it took a little bit of time to get it working but I got my service up and running. I get 10 mbs downstream and 2 mbs upstream. My cable box is working perfect no problems and my telephone couldn't be better. maybe it could be that timewarner has problems giving service in some areas. would be if you have cable tv turn off the box and disconnect the cable out the back then attach it to your modem and power it on then if the (sync) light stays lit instead of flashing theres your problem the cable going to your modem at your pc is bad either the connector is not on properly (cables touching) or where your cable connects to a spliter for tv and internet is bad (cable company job) best to swap round cable box and modem to see which is the problem.

It is a Time Warner Cable Modem. We use them in area's that used to be Adelphia. I know cause I install them everyday. It's a downsteam signal issue. The modem is not getting signal. 2nd light from the right didn't lock.

I've been on time warner for like 8+ years in NEOhio, we were some of the first people to have road runner when it first came out and had a huge white cable modem. We are on RR Turbo now and almost anytime of the day I can get at least 14 mbps bandwidth download and 768 upload. Though when were adelphia they flumped and disconnected our cable even though our service was not with them until adelphia became TWC, which was a good thing here. My internet connection uptimes have reached in 90+ days.
Im sorry but thats an uguly modem...Anyways i had the same problem too...The first day when i got roadrunner it didnt want to connect i was calling the CSR and he did some thing over there and all my lights turned off and then they came back on then the next day it just disconnected and this kept going on for 3 days...i kept bugging and bugging them unil they sent a technition and he sayd my splitters were getting over loaded(i used my own splitters) so i dont have anymore problems.

i use there service and they have way lesser downtimes then ATT. I have only had 1 Down time and i was 30 min. I Pay 30 for 18Mps. its worth it. cause im a internet Radio Dj. i have been with them since they were Comcast.
If you have enough time to make a video, you would also have enough time to fix your internet. It looks like the typical Ambit 2.0 or 2.01 cable modem. Try bypassing the splitter, moving it to another hot outlet or call them up. Typical escalation is 2 calls within 30 days for a lead tech, 3 calls within 30 days for the call to be escalated.
I JUST cancelled my HORRIBLE UNRELIABLE cable internet... Time warner cut out so much that Dialup was starting to sound good! This happened not only at my apartment, but at my moms house and sisters! I think it is the fluctuation of the electricity. Try using a UPS and or power strip. That would help. I have had the same issue before. Now I have stable connection. Also, if you are using a router, plug the router on the UPS and or power strip.
This should solve the problem. Let me know what happen next.

I have the same -FUCKING- problem. Everyday at mornings and nights the line is gone for about 3OR 4 HOURS. I guess im gonna channge my Internet provider. They sent a guy to fix it but he found nothing wrong(i had internet when he was fixing), once he was gone, again the same shit.

so i came across this video while trying to find a solution for the exact same problem.
Weird thing is it happened during the exact same time of day for me, 11am to 5pm, almost to the minute. What gives? Does the fact that it happens during such a specific time give any hints as to whats causing it? I'm in LA area.
I've had time warner for a little over a week and this is the first time its happened, if it becomes a regular thing ill be switching ISP's

for DNS issues i do recommend you to have your security software disabled. If you still cant connect, if you have a router try bypassing it. if you still cant, try flushing your dns by going to command prompt and typing the words ipconfig/flushdns then hit enter and type the words ipconfig/registerdns

About once a month, my Verizon DSL just won't work for a day. It affects my Voip service so that puts me out of using the internet and getting to use my phone. I've called Verizon DSL and it usually takes like 4+ hours when it's working again. Now, I just unplug it and let the frazzled modem just fix on its own. Well, thanks for your opinon, I guess all these companies have their problems so I'll do more investigation before I drop Verizon and Directv.

we didnt get tired of you... but sometimes we cannot fix your technical problems from the call center... and we have a procedure to follow... so it is not that we dont want to help you, or that we get tired of you... the only way we have to fix your tech issues is sending a tech 0ut to your home...
and after that we must ask "how would you rate me ona scale from 1 to 9 regarding your customer service experience with me?" so, it is frustrating not only for you... yes, i work for twc.

If your modem has a coaxial cable connection in the back you should check the coaxial cable to see if it is connected properly. mines had the same problem but i checked the coaxial cable and it worked

Try putting in your personal IP adress in your Internet Explorer, and go to IP Bans, you probably have yourself on a ban from 11-5you can cancel it by hitting reset (Hint Personal IP is something like 192.168.0.1 (not that) but something like it depending on your ISP)

your cable modem is not syncing with the cable modem termination system on the cable company's end. It's either due to bad wiring in your home or their levels on their return path. Have you split your wires in your home? If you have..try removing any splits you have made and running the line directly to the modem.

I live in Anaheim California and I can not relate to anything your saying. I will admit when I first hooked up my modem it took a little bit of time to get it working but I got my service up and running. I get 10 mbs downstream and 2 mbs upstream. My cable box is working perfect no problems and my telephone couldn't be better. maybe it could be that timewarner has problems giving service in some areas. Anyways I'm happy and full the service as of now

FIX FOR YOUR PROBLEM
would be if you have cable tv turn off the box and disconnect the cable out the back then attach it to your modem and power it on then if the (sync) light stays lit instead of flashing theres your problem the cable going to your modem at your pc is bad either the connector is not on properly (cables touching) or where your cable connects to a spliter for tv and internet is bad (cable company job) best to swap round cable box and modem to see which is the problem.

I've had their service since the qube days and have not had any real issues, however; I will say that pay my bill on time so that might just make a difference!!! It is a Time Warner Cable Modem. We use them in area's that used to be Adelphia. I know cause I install them everyday. It's a downsteam signal issue. The modem is not getting signal. 2nd light from the right didn't lock.

I've been on time warner for like 8+ years in NEOhio, we were some of the first people to have road runner when it first came out and had a huge white cable modem. We are on RR Turbo now and almost anytime of the day I can get at least 14 mbps bandwidth download and 768 upload. Though when were adelphia they flumped and disconnected our cable even though our service was not with them until adelphia became TWC, which was a good thing here. My internet connection uptimes have reached in 90+ days.

Im sorry but thats an uguly modem...Anyways i had the same problem too...The first day when i got roadrunner it didnt want to connect i was calling the CSR and he did some thing over there and all my lights turned off and then they came back on then the next day it just disconnected and this kept going on for 3 days...i kept bugging and bugging them unil they sent a technition and he sayd my splitters were getting over loaded(i used my own splitters) so i dont have anymore problems.

If you have enough time to make a video, you would also have enough time to fix your internet. It looks like the typical Ambit 2.0 or 2.01 cable modem. Try bypassing the splitter, moving it to another hot outlet or call them up. Typical escalation is 2 calls within 30 days for a lead tech, 3 calls within 30 days for the call to be escalated.

I JUST cancelled my HORRIBLE UNRELIABLE cable internet... Time warner cut out so much that Dialup was starting to sound good! This happened not only at my apartment, but at my moms house and sisters! What you said was ignorant. You made it seem like I did not say anything. Whatever "global" factors that are making TW's cable suck seem to be all over the US. It doesnt matter what knowledge of technology you have silly. My internet went from 166 Kbps and massive service interruptions to 314 Kbps with NO service interruptions and it costs me 50% less.
