Vedder and Cornell both do GREAT covers of the song. Right now I'm digging the Cornell version, but before it was Vedder, and before that it was the original.
I'll get bashed but I think that everyone would be able to do a good cover if it came from the heart, and if they were not out to do that perfect imitation.
I personally dig Cornell, but I certainly would appreciate a Slayer or even Muse version (oh, the Angst!).
All versions are suitable with great interpretations and we call the song as a remec piece of art. Thank you to the origins but Cornell its more familiar to me.
Josepherdon. Thank you for posting all three of these songs. I love covers They are great. most are never as good as the originals but there are some that are better. I am a huge fan of George Thorogood because all most all of his library is covers of old Blue artists his covers are some of the ones that are better than the originals. Just my worthless opinion. I have tons of covers i collect them as soon as i find them.
Eddie didn't want (or dare) to transfrom the song to make it ound like his own.
Chris was braver about that, but those heys should have been left out - he was a lot better with the billie jean cover.
Singers will always have a hard time covering the greatest band in pop/rock history but it's a great joy to listen to classic Beatles song interpretations.
you talk, no, trash about your likes and dislikes... wtf people...? it's like you talk about faces... some you like, some you don't, but it's all real... someone here said something like: music is art... YES, god'damn... my music teacher said to me: it's not about authors version and interpretation, It's about how You feel the song... So why are you shiting on someones work / style / interpretation ??? it's rhetoric, don't anwser, just stop with the bulshit!!!
Vedder and Cornell cannot sing this..Vedder is garbled and disjointed, Cornell's tempo doesn't fit and his signature screams do not work here..Love Vedders musty groans on VS and Cornells grinding riffs and screams with Soundgarden but none of their styles work on this Beatles
Three good singers; Cornell's voice is probably the only one that would sound good a capella. The other two are not strong singers. *flees from the masses of blind Beatles' worshipers who actually believe that they can sing. . .well*
c'mon, just listen the fuckin song, they did it, cause, they're huge fan of the beatles, one of the most important, band of history, i like chris cornell, version i think he did justice
Lennon destroys...annihilates them both. First off, neither of them can ennunciate, which is born of an inability to sing...plus, when Cornell says "hey" it sounds like he's choking on a dead squirrel. And of course they both have the dreaded condition known as "soup mouth": they sound as if they're trying to hold soup in their mouths while they sing (a terribe condition made virulent by the grunge movement). More props to Vedder, at least he has some catchy songs. Cornchip Cornell = poser
(Dear chilidogdupree) You're a dick. Right or not I don't care: thats not the point. You sound like one of those insecure fucks that compensates by being pretentious about his bullshit music theorys. Chances are you can't sing or play an instrument. Certainty is your an ass. Music isn't a goddamn competition, and if it was, your snobby ass wouldn't be the judge.
John Lennon destroys...annihilates them both. First off, neither of them can enunciate properly, which is an affectation born of an inability to sing...and when Cornell says "Hey", it sounds like he's choking on a dead squirrel. And of course both of them have the dreaded condition known as "soup mouth". That is, they sound like they're trying hold soup in their mouths while they sing (a horrible condtion made virulent by the grunge movement). More props to Vedder...but not on this on though.
Anyone who hates the Beatles obviously don't know history. If not for them, the road would not have been paved for Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Chris Cornell, etc. And almost 99% of the time, the original is better than the remake. Still, props to Eddie and Chris on their versions!
I love you Chris

They're all good. And I'm not saying that blindingly, they are all good. Unique and different in their own way.

i like all the versions, but out of the second two i prefer the vedder version, strange as generally i prefer cornell normally.
