Great tutorial. Do you have to hold your finger on the harmonic as it's being sustained or just lightly touch and release it?

I learned how to do this w/ a regular whammy. Works fine, you just can do backwards whammying without it. Are you able to squeal on the 1st or 2nd harmonics? I can hit the 2nd most of the time but I have never been able to hit the 1st harmonic.

dude, having a strat with a normal synch trem sucks for heavy stuff. you always have to decompress after raising it to keep it in tune and it cant stretch far, especially if its floating. no way in hell can you get the strings to be totally flapping, only a little loose.

Yeah hate to break it to you have to have a Floyd. The only other way I know of is to use a wammy pedal and set it up for 2 octaves, then hit the note and gradually decompress the pedal. Thats kind of a cheaters way to do it it and it doesnt sound exactly the same. I prefer the floyd. I use my wammy for mostly harmonies.

The Floyd Rose copy is an Overlord Of Music tremolo, and it also has the locking nut

EMG's are the shit! you should be good with an 81 no problem. You might not be able to snag that uber high harmonic but I dunno. My EMG equipped guitar doesnt have a floyd so I haven't really had the opportunity to try :(

Anything HOT. DIMEBUCKERS are by far the best for these kinds of squeals. You definitely need a humbucker. Single coils won't cut it.
