@thepoacher2010 imo don't think cliffs was unlucky in this race, makfi may have gone first but he maintained the distance all the way to the line, cliffs certainly wasn't cutting into his lead with every stride..... also makfi's only bad races came at ascot.... maybe he just didn't like the course..... in this and le marois he looked right out the top draw
I remember that St Nicholas Abbey was being hyped beyond belief prior to this race in 2010. Then, when he ended up finishing 6th, he was treated almost as an afterthought. His 2011 debut in the Alleged Stakes in Ireland didn't do a great deal to reverse that. But boy did he ever look like the St Nicholas Abbey we saw as a 2yr.old at Chester winning the Ormonde Stakes. He just brushed away Allied Powers and Harris Tweed like nothing. That win over 1m 5f reopens a lot of doors for him, IMO.
Even though Makfi beat Goldikova and Paco Boy at Deauville in the Prix Jacques Lamoire. I still don't think he'll ever beat Canford Cliffs again. Makfi isn't always going to have the soft ground he had in beating Goldikova and Paco Boy at Deauville. This race was early season. All trial and error for them all. I think the St James's Palace Stakes is likely how you'll see any future race come out between Makfi and Canford Cliffs. Makfi is a grinder. Canford Cliffs, and explosive turn of foot. JMO
Does anyone know what St Nicholas Abbey's racing status is right now? So he didn't run his race in the 2000 Guineas, and finished 6th. Two of the five that beat him, Dick Turpin and Canford Cliffs, have proven themselves the best 3yr.old's in the world at 8 furlongs. I think Makfi got exposed in the St James's Palace Stakes as being a fluke winner of this race. But SNA is still an awesome colt that will win races. Cape Blanco ran badly in France. Came back to Ireland, and won the Irish Derby.
youve got to stick with canford cliffs for the rest of the season he will turn the tables on any horse he has run against this year then of to stud enjoy while you can you wont see him next year.
@TheEnglandWC total disater of a day makfi never ran too form but canford cliffs was very impressive perhaps i underestimated him and he realy is the real deal
@MANUTD4LIFE171 credit where it is due youve admitted that canford cliffs is the reel deel, makfi did run to form its canford cliffs has got better like i said stick with him and by the end of the season you will have bolging pockets full of money.
@thepoacher2010 Makfi did not run to form at all at ascot that is just ludicris to suggest, connections even said he scoped badly after the race, if makfi can get back to his guineas winning form he could certainly reverse the ascot form
, after Dick Turpins win on sunday i am starting to have doubts wether canford cliffs or makfi are better than him im starting to think he could be the best 3 year old miler i too thought he ran a little flat at Ascot
@thepoacher2010 the fact you use the term "manu" which is an offensive term to all Man Utd supporters suggests you are probably not a Man Utd supporter or your a plastic one
@MANUTD4LIFE171 ive been a man utd suporter since the georg best days so dont call me a plastic one i have proberbly been suporting man utd longer than you
dont go there stick to racing and watch canford cliffs win his next race whoever he
@thepoacher2010 If you have been a Man Utd fan since the Best days as you proclaim then you should understand the term "manu" is very offensive to all Man Utd supporters that was the only reason i reacted as i thought your post was a wind up but i do apologise if i was wrong
Dick Turpin is also a great price for the st james palace at a tasty looking 10/1 when you consider he has beaten canford cliffs twice this season proving he is the "top dog" at the hannons yard, 10/1 is a great price, i will also be having an EW bet on him for the race along with a win bet on makfi, both great bets for Royal Ascot
makfi will win the st jame's palace stakes, youve heard it here first, canford cliffs is the 5/4 favourite for some reason, i cant understand, yes he won the irish guineas well but he finished well behind makfi here so makfi at 9/4 ante post for the st jame's palace stakes looks the bet of the season certainly my nap for royal ascot
with Dick Turpin going on to finish a much closer 2nd in the french guineas and Canford cliffs romping home in the irish guineas, this makes makfis performance here very impressive indeed, makfi should never have been 33/1 he was unbeaten and looked very impressive in his 2 year old victorys, cant believe i never spotted the massive price on an unbeaten horse who had made the trip from france so the trainers must have known he was good enough to win great performance
If you ran this race a million times. the result would be the same 3/4 million times.
On the day Canford was stuffed......Another day, who knows?

Canford Cliffs is the horse that wants cut, he hates firm ground, Makfi can run on firm ground as seen here. Makfi can run on anything.
