Maybe, Maybe not - but the facts are that an E-Tec powered boat has ACTUALLY done it & nobody else has even tried. Records are made to be broken. And don't froget that an Evinrude V8 which is the fastest Outboard ever & the World Record holder at 176.556mph (average 2 way) for the past 22 years. I would think the other brands would have done it by now if it was easy. Give credit because it is well earned.

I think it would be safe to say that any comparable 2 stroke outboard (Opti, hpdi etc) in the same hp class could easily do this as well.

I can't help but recall early outboard motor promotions towing multiple skiers...behind boats with 40hp motors. history repeats itself!
