Perhaps I should clarify something here. The salvia that's been making news is a single little species called Salvia divinorum - just one of the more than 400 species in the genus Salvia.

The various salvias that I sing about are all flower garden species which are cold-hardy enough to live through winter outside in Central Texas. I think the one many of you are interested in is a tropical plant.

I think people come here looking for Salvia divinorum and are surprised to find a song about garden salvias! Salvia divinorum is listed as tropical on many sites. I don't have divinorum either.

In gardens without deer Pineapple sage is beautiful right now!
